  1. That shouldnt keep us from warming up with other cameras having some fun.πŸ™‚
  2. I know, it was just teasing to get ready for the challenge.:) @leslie So it would be natural light only? That's great too. I would love if we can decide for a variety of subjects in front of the camera, human talent included.

    Olympus OM-1

Rolling shutter, battery life, weather sealed body, superior Ibis, compactness of lenses..

    Olympus OM-1

I want this camera too. Why, oh why? The elegant appearance of the camera body and the AF. Never was interested in AF. But imagining that a tasty 17mm 1.8 could work flawlessy in AF gives me an appetite for this camera. Interested to see if HD 240fps is oversharpened or not, if low light video is without mushy noise reduction, if codec is at least as good as on the Gh5 is in good light. Super16 crop, open gate mode would be great. Battery life seems promising. Then this is a want to buy camera. Oh, mini Hdmi, yikes.

Here is my nFd 28mm f2.8 in action. It especially shines wide open for close ups of faces on 0.71 speedboosted M43. I did this video couple years ago and I posted it before on this forum. Grading is a bit over the top and too much to handle for the humble Lumix G6 But anyhow, to illustrate the magical goodness of this affordable plasticy Canon Fd 28mm 2.8

The 28 f2 is supposed to be a bulked up 2.8 with an additional lens element. It's not as good at the same apertures as the 2.8 regarding some lens nerds. I love the 28mm 2.8, which is one of my favorite lenses and still goes for little prices. A price of 99 USD for the f2 is way too low though! It's not so common neither. How did you come up to selling it for that low price?
  7. Bump, like the one on the OM Systems "Olympus" OM1. But indeed a thread bump. Impatience is a good friend of mine when it comes to seeing passion video pieces done as labor of love.😊

The rubber dissolving is in regard to some silver ring Fd lenes as well, not just nFd. Yeah, prices are nuts for these 24mm 1.4 Fd lenses. I love my nFd 28mm 2.8 which i got for 20eu six years ago. It gives a beautiful image. Mechanically it is typical nFd and rather a bit dull and no contest to other marvels but still great to hold and operate. I read the 28mm f2 is not worth the extra money unless you are in need for the extra stop in light gathering. I would love to believe that.😊
  9. We are exited to see what you will do with it. @Matt Kieley 8bit B and W with a camera classic. It's a perfect nerdom pleasure for us!😊
  10. Thank you very much! @kye This edit was fun to do. Lighting was a lot of fun as well, good old gels, blackflags, DIY reflector, thin styro. The model is an aspiring director, producer and writer. For this session I directed her though.:) IΒ΄m really looking forward to do some B and W work with the EOS M. Hopefully my Cmount adapter arrives soon. I think the GX85 is a pretty good BW camera though. BW is a lot of fun, even as an afterthought like this one. When I read through this thread again I saw and really liked your BW Slog look with the RX10@mercer. It has a beautiful analogue quality.
  11. Black and White all right. I read parts of this beautiful thread again. I never got to do a BW vid with my G6 as wanted to for this thread. So three years later comes come Black and White with my GX85, first and last shot are from the S1. LetΒ΄s show this forum some more BW love.:)
  12. Well, my friends, no Eos M as @webrunner5 assumed but GX85 with one shot of S1 in the mix. For the challenge Eos M might be the camera of choice though.:) Still waiting for my Cmount adapter to arrive. The lightest camera setup was with the GX85 and a Canon nFD 28mm 2.8 with a focal reducer, heaviest was the S1 with a Vivtar 90mm F2.5 the famous Bokina lens. I shot this last weekend as a leftover from shooting photos and did an edit and grade today. Lighting with two aperture spotlights, the 300d and an Amaran, plus two extra Fresnel Bowens mount addons, with two 150w dedos in the mix. So I hope you enjoy this as a little appetizer. cheers πŸ™‚
  13. So, you lazy cats, whatΒ΄s up with the challenge. Is it canceled, because @John Matthews pulled his Lumix GM1 and a pinhole lens into the spotlight, which is too impressively tiny? WhatΒ΄s happening? I did some photos with my GX85 plus S1 and 28, 50 Canon FD plus 90mm Vivitar F2.5 Bokehmonster. Middle and heavy weight setups in the DSLM class. So what now? No footage and edits we wanna create then? Lazy winter season it seems! πŸ™‚
  14. C100, really? I would imagine mushyness kicking in due to the slim codec, which is 28mbit or something like that. FPN in the important areas of the image are a no go for sure and one cannot always pull shadows down, if the wanted look does not allow. So lighting and knowing your camera noise are indeed important subjects. Lumix S1 is my bargain cinematic noise champ for now.
  15. With the Lumix S1 I had the first consumer camera with nice grain in lowlight instead of mush. Until that camera all DSLMs produced mushyness due to codec compression. C300ii does that, ugliest noise reduction in a 10bit cine camera body. By far the best mode, possibly even good, was the Cine 4K mode in that regard, 1080p 444 12 bit is terrible once the noise reduction kicks in. It then is as bad as a 8bit 420 codec of the same generation. Just sayin, that until some time you either had to spend big bucks or shoot with an external recorder to have any grain at all in lowlight.:) I recognized fixed pattenr noise, fpn, with my bmmcc but C300ii in the same scenarion gave me nasty mushines and the weirdest artefact I have witness, background shining through the face of a person. Pure wizzardry so to sayπŸ˜„ So how you all judge the S1 S1H noise? For me it is awesome when it has a chance to show with the great low light sensitivity of this cam. S5 must be the noise beauty bargain champ these days!
  16. Hallo Emanuel, it arrived safely more than a week ago. Now I am waiting for a Cmount adapter which should arrive from winter olympics land. Ebay gives an approximate date in March! It is in perfect condition. Holds and weights beautifully in the hand. Thinking about the 22mm pancake. The 20mm pancake on M43 was one of my favorites btw when i got my first Dslm back then, a used Gf1, which is my favorite photo camera body up to this day. Quiete irrational and only due to its design and simplistic beauty. Hope the 22 does not have that gnarling MF and the super plasticy touch of the Pana 20mm. The Eos M recalls some of the exitement of the Gf1 days in me. My Gx85 is different but an awesome lil cam in its own right.

    Panasonic GH6

For the first time I am not excited for a new GH camera. Makes me a bit sad to realize that.:/ Andrew and members of this forum like Kye, if i remember this right, have been suggesting and inspiring the discussion about different form factors for hybrids. I was hoping for something else. With Prores LT to HQ for different resolutions and framerates it would bring some excitement back to me though. If for 5.7K 30p only, not so much. Prores 4444 in 2K modes and downsampled 2K opengate or S16 in 4to3 format with full S16 width, now we are talking.

    Panasonic GH6

No Sdi port.:( Hope they give it expandibility like the sdi interface for the Gh4, but with batterypower and much smaller. The S1h is a handsome camera. This picture though makes the GH6 look kinda cramped, rather unattractive to look at.

If you look closer on the photo from kyes post, it indeed appears to be the same or similar screen like the S1H one! @MrSMW @kye

Not commenting on affordable FD lenses since prices are high enough already.😊 55mm 1.2 asph, sheesh. One sold for "cheap" last weekend for 1600 EUR. They usually go for 3500 and more. Afaik all the Fd 35mm f2 lenses and other FDs as well will have mechanical faults due to use of rubber in the focussing mechanisms. My 35 70 f4 has a gnarling focussing sound and lens elements are rattling.
  21. Great write up and presentation. Thanks. Back then you matched the Gh5 to Canon 5d Raw. Now mercer wants you to match the 5d back to the Gh5.😊 @hyalinejim Little joke, dear friends! Would also love some 5d3 magic in Kodak and Fuji flavors! I am looking forward to test this Lut. Until now I still prefer grading the Gh5 more than the S1. Could be that Gh5 is supposed to be in 709 color space when in VLog while the S1 is in VGamut. The larger color space giving a different response and metric when working curves. Anyway, thanks a lot and looking forward to what we can achieve with your lut.😊
  22. Another tasty treat to watch before going to bed. Ordered a C-mount to Eos M adapter today. Will take a while to get here from the land of Olympic Wintergames 2022. Anyway, our friend zeek, who has no time to drop by anymore and is busy shooting great footage and uploading his beloved videos. Not a bad thing to do as we can see below.
  23. @leslieI think, it was the photo burst mode. So it might and hopefully would be found in the options for photo mode. Yeah, those times... We all surely accumulated a whole bunch of stuff in those times.:)
  24. Talked to a "real" DP just two days ago. He really loved the image from the F3. I am just too wound up by editing that I dont prep much with other equipment but choose the tech which I am used to, C300ii and GH5, which both I rent as a package. But I am really looking forward to using this beauty!
