Atomos did better with their promo of the polish GH5 production, promoting 10bit 4K60p recording with the Inferno. It was called born for the sabre. This looks rather generic and image quality does not wow me. Title is corny. And if showing a maiden, there are so many other great examples with poetic power. This is rather ordinary to my eyes.

@barefoot_dp I recorded internal HD, 420, 25p. 🙂 Still, the internal image shows more aliasing than the external 2K, which I shot many months ago. This time it´s aliasing all over. It looks like a Canon Ti or worse. This camera is known for a very clean HD image just like the FS100 and better than a GH2.

Dear friends, just did a one day gig with the FS700 and 10percent S1 in the mix. Was super fun to roll with convinience of super long battery life, NDs and a light tripod. I really like the footage from the FS700 for the corporate look. SLog2 HD 420 gives nice colours and image, when graded with love. I used a preview LUT, which I built as a DIT for the Arri Amira!:) Image is fine, lively with popping colous. So far, oh la la. But one thing I am very annoyed by are the tons of aliasing. Back then when I loved to watch camera reviews and vintage reviews even more, I saw the FS700 with a clean HD image, without any nasties such as aliasing or moire. One year ago I had troubles with external 2K, showin lotta aliasing whereas the internal didnt show any of it. So I browsed the web a little bit and found some info on aliasing in the highights. Well, any of you, dear friends, with experience on this subject? I recorded in HD 25p, internal, 420, Slog2. The F3 on the other hand is supposed to be completly free of aliasing and moire. But that beast feels twice as heavy. Here is an example, original shot and crop with 200 percent.

Darn, @Parker, you nailed it! Shots are all from the S1 or some from the GH5? S1 or S1H?:) I was close to purchases Sage piece of art. But then figured I will do it for a S1 only job! Last one was FS700 plus 10percent S1 in the mix. Cannot wait to do a S1 only gig, once I got my rigging set!:) cheers
-
The same for me @Rinad Amir, coming from the S1, image is mindblowing. So give it internal ND and faster readout, like 15ms for the entire sensor place it below 3500 and it would be a tempting purchase, with SDI out, no contest.
-
@Amazeballs I would prefer a GH6 with similar image as the Lumix S series, also means absent digital sharpening. With a S16 crop, anamorphic S16, bummer! Take that above any other DSLM except my S1:) Would be a great addition. If it has internal NDs, no contest. With SDI out, it´s a must purchase for me. You can get the Laowa 7.5 f2, no AF though but stellar optical performance, perfect for moviemakers with the love for extrem wide view.

@Dogtown Thanks. Thats what I was doing and what I meant. :) My question was, if that is still the same SLOG as there was before in all regards, Ben and Renaissance have been talking about two different Slog settings for the same Gamma of Slog alias Slog1. Slog does not show up on working screen, just "PP" with whatever number, fi "PP8" and likes. Also, I cannot choose a monitor Lut. It´s greyed out in the menu.
-
Guys, thanks for giving your info. Why does it show pp7 for chosen pp7 but not S-Log, which I have chosen as Gamma. Before reset it did show S-Log on the screen, once chosen. I have the 444 update. Just couldnt find a way to regain S-Log after reset. Found it in the Gamma settings. So thats it? Slog 420 on the F3 is doing amazingly well. I had test files on my the card when I bought it. Amazing files, color response felt like 10bit HD on the GH5 to me, artefact hell was amazingly absent. In sunlight, as yesterday for my gig, Fs700 had to do it and I am happy with the results i got with Slog2. Hopefully that Slog is still THE Slog, TheRenaissanceMan or Ben Ericson have been talking about, if I remember right, as the were exchanging about two different settings in this thread.
-
I would say the latter, looking at Andrews samples. If the A73 has the same 100bmit codec as the A7s2, then it is rather underwhelming. Andrews examples look very solid.
-
Darn, you dudes are busy. Well, I found a way to set the Gamma to SLOG, but I cannot choose Preview Lut, which is greyed out. Also, before reset, info on my screen was S-Log, when chosen. Now it´s pp7 or whatever profile I am using Slog as gamma for. Still weird. Anyway, used my Fs700, second time and for a paid gig. So thats a moneymaker in 420 HD right there. 🙂 It´s lighter and image looks sufficient enough, colours are nice but not great. Still a nice change compared to a GH5, softer (not talking resolution but sharpness), somehow less video. GH5 graded well can look epic though. Codec is a monster. So still no F3 love yet for me to this point. 😕 It´s all in weight and the rigging and battery life, which worked well for my FS700.

New GH Series Cameras (Plural)! Live stream here
PannySVHS replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
If they include NDs and SDI plus punch in focussing during recording and keep the good battery life, I would love to buy this camera. -
Holy cow, fellaritas and fellas! I need your HELP @IronFilm @BenEricson@TheRenaissanceMan@Geoff CB! Sorry for calling out loud. But I have a small gig tomorrow and was gonna use my F3. I have one with the RGB update plus a Blackmagic Videoassist. I will have to record internally tomorrow for convinience and onemanband. For bright sunlight I want to use SLOG. For a lot of situations the internal 8bit 420 is pretty nice. So, problem is. Me dummy did a reset of settings and deleted all picture profiles. SLOG gone! Bummer! How do I get this beauty of a profile back? This sucks onion juice, I´m tellin ya. Thanks for helping! cheers

@IronFilm well, that's what "sound speed" is about a lot of times, recording people talk. 🙂

Click bait youtube and ticotoxic have devastating effects as papparazzi. I wish both were just dancin, singin or educational content, which they are, although burried under tons of toxic content. The burrying is done by a super aggressive push mechanism, working and interconnecting across media, showing toxic content in all its camouflages, on all kinds of media and channels and occasions.

Lovely! Keep it up, Parker! Now, I wish Andrew would post more again. Back then his videos where my hightlights of the day coming home from work in the evening.

@QuickHitRecord Looking at your great looking Teaser makes me want to buy the original BMPCC or BMMCC. Plus it made me check out your vimeo channel as well. 🙂

Please keep in mind, this was shot without a clamp! The Isco was held by hand infront of the taking lens. So don´t expect any anamorphic greatness here. 🙂 The flaring goodness comes from the Angenieux. That little guy is a flaring champion!
-
More Angenieux 75mm goodness with Isco 16mm 2x anamorphic. Shot on S35 anamorphic crop with my Lumix S1. This lens covers open gate m43 and Super35 in 16 to 9 and s35-ish in 4to3, which is less width but more heigth than Super35 16 to 9 on the S1. Wish the S1 offered all of the full frame sensor heigth for 4to3 ratio plus full width of s35 crop in anamorphic 4to3. Anyway, I combined this lil beauty with the Isco, without clamp, held by hand. So here goes y first anamorphic "test":) https://vimeo.com/549191623

I would love a 10bit update for the GX series, with the awesome Super 16 crop mode. Starting to discover, what the system is really about, perfect size of body and lens, plus IBIS. Love the GX85 form factor. Give me the perfect HD, 10bit codecs and Super 16 mode of the GH5, swivel screen, minus the All Intra if you like. Put a price tag of 699 on it and skip the GH5II.
-
Some Angenieux 75mm glory, c-mount for S16 format. covers full m43 sensor with some light vignetting. Another gem to support the yearning for a GH6 with prores, oplf, sdi out, internal nds, super16 glory, 10bit HD up to 240fps, etc. 🙂 Lens has a glorious glow wide open at f2.5, which is like a light source of its own. I love everything about it. Hopefully it will become more thant just a magical item but for pratical use in a short film or wait, why not shoot a paid gig with it for some talking heads footage! Photo taken with the beautyful GX85. Hope that body gets the GH5 sensor and codecs some time. Now that would make m43 my format of love again. I saw a Nikon 35mm f2, a lens from the 60ies vignette pretty strongly on a S1H in 16to9 video mode. So this little lens is doing pretty okay in that regard I think. And it´s my first and only Angenieux lens.:)

@newfoundmass would also love the goodies of a GH5 in a GX85 body. That would be a standout move. Also, like Andrew stated, cut 90 percent of the other cams and focus on the GX, GH and Lumix S cameras. The Panny lineup has been plastered with too many and redundant releases. The GH5II leaked specs list is awful to read. So the standout feature would be 4k60p 10bit 420. Well, I got that in my S1 with a larger sensor area. @MrSMW what makes your S1H so much more exiting than your S5? Hopefully your comment won´t make me want to update to a S1H.:) Anyway, GH5ii with same image sensor should have full sensor opengate 10bit 24p to 60p 422, 444 HD up to 60p, Prores options, perfect HD for up to 240p, 10bit 422 of course. SDI, XLR, internal NDs, full VLog- and Gamut. 2000 USD. Then it would be a tasty treat. GH6 would be allowed to top that. Other than that a GH5II would be a rather uninspiring affair. And better keep the S16 mode!
-
@IronFilmC70 should do well though in regards to reliability I would assume. I would love to see some BMMCC or BMPCC with glorious character C-mount lenses shot by our forum friends. I know some of you are piling up beautiful footage on your hard drives, such as @TheRenaissanceMan has proven in the Sony PMW F3 thread, old gold from one of his shoots. So please start hunting for your own gems, friends. 🙂
-
@OttoVGet a Blackmagic Video Assist HD 5inch. I went that road. It was recommended in this thread either by Ironfilm or Ben Ericson. You would want the F3 with the 444 update as that gives you to opportunity to recorde 10bit 422 up to 60p to a BMVA 5inch.

Is the EOS-M *THE* Digital Super-8 Camera?
PannySVHS replied to Matt James Smith ?'s topic in Cameras
Darn this thread it tasty as the other other EOS M RAW thread. Both threads are some of the greatest browsing pleasures for nerds like us. 🙂 Anyone shooting narrative shorts with this beauty? How does it hold up against a BMPCC? Anyway our friend @ZEEK has provided us with beautiful pieces like this one. -
Raspberry Pi Releases an Interchangeable-lens Camera Module
PannySVHS replied to androidlad's topic in Cameras
On another forum someone was dreaming of a speedbooster for this to push it up to super 16 sensor size. Maybe time to rethink the classy classic EOS-M rather then waiting for a speedbooster for this little kitten.:)
