  1. Ah, ct, they even had their own tv show. True journalists and nerds. Too bad they canceled the show due to cost reasons. Right... Public German TV going downhills since then. Only cool station left is arte. Dpreview made me search for the GH2 and made me find Andrew Reids website. Loved them back then, reading about the small four thirds dslrs form Olympus, then a lumix G1, which even had 720p video I think. Stopped reading them on a regualar base a few years ago after their relaunch.
  2. I don´t even want to say much about it. Still got my Pen EP2. Beautiful looking camera. EP5 looks like perfection! Olympus made by far the most beautiful cameras in the system cam world. I am not even talking about the analogue OM cameras nor Zuiko lenses. Sad, all I can say. Not much into posting ads but this one is too much cheesy fun. Video shot with the OMD EM5. Makes me want to be a hipster too 🙂
  3. @Andrew Reid Hallo Andrew, hope you enjoy the summer pleasures and don´t spend as much time with your social media device like we do. Not into italics or bold fonts, so here my question: Will you do your beautiful vignettes again, like you used to do back in your Berlin days? I know, Iggy Pop left the city 30 years ago. But he is still rockin. I loved and love your stuff like so many people do. You made the cams shine! Would love to see vintage classics make a comeback for these vignettes or even shortfilms, like 1DC or Digital Bolex. Your are right about putting tripods, monopods, walls and laps to good use instead of floating around like an ibis maniac.
  4. Or, if not on sticks, we just keep on doing handheld work like it has been done for decades, like in "Breaking the Waves". The handheld camera with eloquent framing rather than floating away from good framing by ibis´ mysterious forces. I trust you that you master this artform of camera operation. Seen it on your channel. Your GH5 video had spiffy operating as well fi. I don´t care for that camera anymore. Happy with my S1 and looking for those sweet lenses on ebay. Bought a 50 to 200 3.5-4.5 and 45 to 150 3.5! How sweet does that sound. Anyone in heat like an R5 already? 🙂 cheers
  5. Making beloved Panny look stupid. Yikes! 🙂 Well, Sony has given us beautiful underground hits like F3 and FS700, so I should be more thankful and accept their possible lead for the most awesome hybrid cam. Maybe it makes Panny gives the S1 a few meaty firmware updates. Perfect HD up to 60p would be awesome. GH5 is a HD monster. Back to R6, yes it exists. Thank you Canon, I filmed with your C100II. A very cool cam, best low bitrate 8bit, perfect HD and no overheating. 🙂
  6. Haha, yes, these FD adapters are quirky. Even the awesome one I got for my S1 from Cieco from Ebay, who uses another aproach without turning a ring on the adapter. Instead you align your lens to one of two dots and turn it to the other one and then the ring of the FD lenses needs to be turned. Funky, still much more solid and a bit less confusing. These FD beauties are worth the trick though. 28mm 2.8 one of the best lenses for indoor filming. Outdoors I have not been so lucky, maybe because of the reflecting surfaces of the adapter I used back then of mft. Back to bmp4k, you need to film some faces with your set up. Slowmo, bro, hair in the wind:) Cam tests are the realf films for camlovers! 🙂 cheers tasty. watching forward to seeing that cat in action!
  7. So many great suggestions for the interview. Awesome, cannot wait to read this tasty treat! My selfish wish would be a firmware update for the S1 giving us perfect HD just like the GH5 and 10bit 422 for the 4k 50p! That would make the S1 the perfect cam of its generation. Common, Panny, if GH5 has perfect HD resolution, your mega flagships S1 and S1H must have it. Especially the S1, my S1, you know 🙂
  8. Not necessarily. GH2, GH3 , GH4, G7, G6 all had pixelbinning and produced very beautiful HD. Better than from 1:1 readout. So if well done, it indeed should not be bad at all but rather mouthwatering. It would be like a mini c300mkII if anything else is good and if overheating will be not an issue.
  9. @Antoin e Hey, I meant, I was taken by the beauty of your footage with the F3, motion, tones and the whole canvas. Nicely done. Thank you very much for posting! This thing in 444 indeed seems to be a beast unleashed. Cannot wait to test it myself some time soon hopefully. I found some footage of its internal 8bit 420 SLOG. The seller left some on his car. I was rather impressed. Best implementation of 8bit Log I have seen. A contender to the internal CLOG of the C100 i/ii. One thing to consider is its best WB mode. Think it was 3200K. Google will tell and Alister Chapman. 🙂 Now, if you would still find that beautiful footage of yours for us to grade, please don´t hesitate to drop us some! @TheRenaissanceMan cheers
  10. Image quality of S1 is astonishing in VLOG and 10bit. Unparalled until now in a Hybrid. AF for video fans look somewhere else. Imagelovers and filmmakers should check it out. Sensor of z6, s1/h, a73 has been mentioned a lot of times to be the same by Sony @Super8 don´t be sold unless you have done some filming with it. Anything else is second hand knowledge. Just like mine. We are always grateful for ones own footage. You can check out some test footage by me in the S1 thread. Back to R6, if it shoots hasslefree pixelbinned 24-50p 4K 10bit 422 with same usuability and roughness as S1, then we have an impressive contender. I´m interested to see how CLOG 1 holds up compared to VLOG. Cannot wait to see some tasty footage with the Canon. Great footage is a rather rare thing these days with these impressive hybrid cameras though. Like Leica owners taking pictures of flowers.
  11. @kye Editing, the menace of every no budget cinematographer 🙂
  12. @Antoin e I don´t get it. Something in those f3 images sings to me. That´s all I get:) Cannot wait to get mine into gears.
  13. An update for internal 10bit 4k60p for the S1 in S35 or FF mode would bring me close enough @Benjamin Hilton
  14. Their 45mm 2.8 L-mount lens looks beautiful. Saw some footage from the Sigma factories, which Andrew or someone else posted a few years ago. They handcrafted a huge lens with water. That image has since then put Sigma in my memory plus Kendy Tys videos with the Sigma 30mm 1.4. Search EosHD for him and you will see.
  15. Darn. Hard to say. I am not trying to make a wishlist.:) Okay, wishlist for S1: -25p in photomode -full height in 4 to 3 photo mode. -4k 50p with h265 10bit 420, same codec like the S1H after the VLOG update Questions: Why are the HD modes not as high resolving as the the perfect HD modes of the GH5? Is it possible to "cure" the power management issue of the S1 via firmware? Are there any awesome plans on taking advantage on the fast XQD memory card port of the S1? Does Panasonic have planned updates regarding higher bitrates and 10bit codecs for the S1 in the future? Thank you for such an awesome camera!
  16. After plenty of testing and even more after filming half of a shortfilm with it last week, S1 is here to stay. Here is a sample of lighing test and giving my beautiful 35 to 70mm zoom a good testrun wide open. Awesome lens and fantastic image quality on the S1. Filmed in 2.5 to 3.5 at 800iso, all lit with tungsten and two tungsten flavour leds plus one kinoflo. Filmed in both, full width and apsc mode.
  17. La Piovra! Most haunting score to one of the most legendary TV shows of all time.
  18. @IronFilm Spiffy! Thanks for showing! Good short. Efficient shotdesign. Well done. This thread is becoming classy and classic.:) Did you shot internally or to the monitor/recorder device in the pic- Samurai? I´m in my coma state, 3rd day now. So feeling better. It was a week hardcore prep and a week of hardcore filming. I was dp with another guy pluas gaffer at the same time and packing and doing cables and so on. And director was insisting on shots we already did before, triple coverage on some, little on others. But a blast. No budget project, with hopefully big cinema looks:)
  19. @IronFilm Tell us about it, David. I mean on dvxuser is a whole thread about the f3 only. It´s from an Australian filmmaker who got into depths of his two shortfilm projects. I think read a post of yours too in that thread. Now tell us about the project. Just had an 8 days project with 6 days of filming. I am recovering from it right now for three days now. So please drop some insights on that beautiful project and the situation of the disappearing sun in front of your beautifully shouldered F3. 🙂

    RED Komodo

Behave:) Dear forum friends, I really like you. Just that Komodo footage I have seen so far, not so much. Who is the youtuber Tim Daust whos videos have been posted on this page of the thread? He has only a few videos and all of them are Komodo.
  21. @IronFilm nice rig, especially for the monitor! Though you don´t seem to look happy about its weight.:) Still I am fascinated by this camera and cannot wait to put it to a useful test.
  22. I second that. Was doing a short with a powerbank in my pocket or hooked to a tripod. Camera loads slower than the speed it takes power while filming. So in between shots the battery can load from the powerbank. Not perfect but helpful. Just watch out the flimsy usb-c connection.

    Lenses

This is one of the coolest threads for photolenses on digital filmcameras on the web. I am always exited to read about your posts. It´s also cool to get answers to ones questions. Here is mine regarding the M. Holtze video above. What is revealing about it besides the advise to go the distance for pitches and to do testing ahead of the pitch? Footage seems tame to me and rather unspecific to the task of setting a 70ies mood. Maybe a large projecition of TV will reveal the use of the presented material to judge character and vintage flavour and consistent color rendition through the various primes? Thanks for putting this video up for discussion @kye
  24. David, you shot with it. You still have pictures of a rigged F3 for shoulder work? With my rigging skills and rigging stuff the cam is hugely out of balance with shaking parts. Not worth the effort. If on sticks it would do fine of course.
