Just sayin. Its a mockumentary. 🙂

Like I said perfect HD coming from Alexa or PMW F3 or C100/300, GH5(s) is beautiful. That in 120p is an attraction. The 4k120 footage on youtube didnt impress more than this. My word has been said enough for now. I believe you, that the original footage looks much better than the youtube stream. My laptop is not beefy enough for davinci and h265, let alone 4k120.

@gt3rs unfortunately this is the best i can communicate my impression about the 4k 120p footage I have seen so far from the R5. I was not impressed. Others can still be impressed. I am sure when avid filmers put that camera into use for a short film it will shine image wise. But so do S1, S1H, Nikon Z6, Canon R. The 120 4k to my eyes does not look better than pixel perfect HD. That can change if less compressed footage will appear on vimeo. 4k 120 in 10bit 422 is an awesome spec, even 4k 60p 10bit 422. If it will show in the quality of the images then of course it will be an attraction. Pixel perfect 120fps HD with 240th second of a shutter or even 500th second is an attraction by itself!

Would need a web search. Please be adventerous enough to do so. A bit of info from my side: GH5s shoots pixel perfect HD up to including 100fps, GH5 up to 60fps. Though only in 8bit from 60+ fps on. Imagine a pixel perfect HD image of 60fps such as from a GH5, GH5s or C100II, just twice as slow.

Thanks, Andrew. Gives me chills. In the end, Chow Yun Fat will always be cooler and funnier than the guy from Kung Fury. Though latter is not unfunny.
-
Back to topic, so sadness will not come over us. Canons pre model does not impress me by the footage seen on youtube. Canon R5 4K 120p does not look better than pixel perfect 120p HD to my eyes.

The way I even see it, is to not to reveal the beauty to the hipster world, so they cannot claim it, pervert it, abuse it to their own selfcentered or even strictly economical agenda. How does one reveal beauty without endangering it? These days... When Techno started it was so absent of hipsterism. A hipster makes even concret to be hip and lose its steel like hardness and rough nature. I dont mean the original hipsters of the 1940ies of course.

Looks like a mockumentary to me. If so, please call it that. Matias Nordahl Carlsen is an actor who looks like the Matias Nordahl Carlsen in your video. He might enjoy the luxury of living in the nature and he might enjoy doing forklifting meanwhile once in a while. A professional forklifter he is not. Sony PMW F3 btw or filmstock?:)

Unfortunately I cannot bring myself to do that anymore. Even worse, I hardly can stand taking the Sbahn. These pretenders indeed take it all. Attention, public space, language, thought, real estate. Trees being torn down for their fugly townhouses. I get you, Andrew. More than I wish I would have to. People will have to learn to turn away from click bait and from the new camouflages of new click bait. In the end this distraction forbids the public to mature and thatfore to act against threats of our times.

Our avid action choreographer and director @hmcindie has done several high paced pieces. Many of them were some of my favorite posts for showing off a variety of cameras. Now one with the original Canon EOS R, testing its capabilities and showcasing the skills of the filmmakers. Awesome indie stuff. Interesting enough that this footage looks more compelling than Canons official footage for their new R5 and R6. This is a rolling shutter test par exellence. And great proof of handheld skills. No overheating camera, just heat of the action!
-
@hmcindie Super cool. Lovely handheld camera. Too bad the subforums not as much visited as the other threads. So, which is your favorite indiefilm/shortfilm/actionshortfilm camera as of NOW. BMCC, 5DRAW... ? Always loved your videos. Would love to see more of these kinda posts in the main forum. Talking practical relevance and such.

I am pretty sure about the 2x on the GX80/85. I will check and hopefully not disappoint. Would love a writeup from you about the Oly PL9 and some footage. And some lens nerdery in the lens thread. Back to topic: MarkusPix gave away a GX85.:)

Glenn, would have loved you giving the plastic fantastic approach more time. I finally bought the FD 35-70 f4. Should arrive soon. Interested to see how it holds up against the Soligor 35-70 2.5-3.5. Latter one has one bad trick up its sleeve. When you put aperture on 3.5 it will still switch to a lower one on the long end, making it 5.6. Starting with 2.5 of course will switch it to 3.5 at 70mm of course. Still, that vari aperture is a bit of a pain for fast zooms

@John Matthews I remember back then when I followed your posts in the GX85 thread. Being my greatest reading pleasure on the forum those days. Still, a bit 10bit in the mix with 100mbit pixel perfect HD would be just perfect. GX85 also has a 2x digizoom mode, giving something like 2.5K video, if I remember correctly. Cannot check, cuz I am not at home and cam is not with with. Now that is a shame indeed. 🙂

Wow, I bought Fishtank years ago on DVD. And didnt keep the directors name in my head. Now, you putting it back in there. Thanks. What a cool forum this is. And what an awesome thread. Classic!

Wow, Peter McKinnons mouth is doing some tricks at 1.07 to 1.17. His approach is different from the times when he was still below 1Mio subs. This mimical artistry is not as engaging as Jim Carreys awesome physical acting but feels out of place instead. @Andrew Reid I bet one of the new Canons is the right camera for Irene. I wouldnt call her photography art, but commercial art. She does some things very well. Others she is not interested in. I would not see her approach as a threat to the arts. Kitch has always been around and always will be. I can enjoy it and recognize it as not being art at the same time. I enjoy it for the playfulness of her BTS videos. The results are technically well done, form without content. Pure Uberkitch. Btw, Peters footage looks like shot with a 5D or 6D. Was dreaming of getting a 5diii back then for RAW video. Now I got a Lumix S1 and couldnt be happier. Still thinking to myself, wow, it´s like a 5D but even better with pixelperfect 4K and awesome lowlight.

I watched the video where you talke to that BM representative politely and he was very grumpy. It is indeed very, very unpleasant to not be treated with kindness or respect. Why buy from them, if the whole experience is unpleasant. I hope it works out and they get their act together when it comes to dealing with human beings. Possibly even moreso towards people like you, who have always been supportive and helpful with feedback and big exposure on the forum.

Hey, I was first who posted about MarkusPix on this forum. I am quiet proud of that! Now I am sure you have been watching this guy more than I did, because you´re a super cool dude, the cool cat with the GX85, right? 🙂 @John Matthews But still, makes me happy I was first to post about him. Btw, loved your posts about the GX85 back then, John. Made me pull the trigger and get one. Awesome little cam, still. Would love it if Panasonic put on out with 10bit 422 and HLG. 600 bucks and I´m sold.

Blackmagic casually announces 12K URSA Mini Pro Camera
PannySVHS replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
@Laurier Thx for commenting and for contributing an interesting perspecitve on colour palettes of cams. Still, IR pollution was very hard if impossible to tame from my experience with BMCC 2.5K footage. I would recommand always doing some IR and other testing beforehand filming, especially paid work. The latter has given me some headaches fighting IR pollutin in post due ingnoring the issue. -
Darn, sick of all these new cams. Andrew, put your Fuji into the race and kick these new cams tush! ProresRAW Monster allert! @Andrew Reid
-
My Eureka moment: I was wondering about these new cameras and older new cameras like BM Pocket 6K and all these image monsters. Then Andrew posted some rumour about a full frame Blackmagic camera and youtubes algorithm put some BM Pocket 6K footage infront of my nose. Now the challenge! Produce some of these shiny camera showcase footages with an 8bit HD camera! Challenge the claim superiour image quality by these dynamic range monsters. Reshoot the shiny ads with an 8bit HD cam. GH1,2,3, no. 4 in hd, nikon dslr, canon, whatever. Challenge it with beautiful 8bit rec709 glory. Special category 8bit LOG, but HD only. So I am talking about monster footage like this from the 6K Godzilla Cam. Darn, tough as bricks challenge. Maybe we need to shine with orginality as well. And keep your fingers off that IBIS 🙂

Holy crap. Not only for the rumour but it gave a heureka moment. Off to the eoshd challenge thread. Thanks, Andrew 🙂

Canon EOS R5 overheating vs Panasonic S1H and Sigma Fp designs
PannySVHS replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Tested the S1 before using it for a more elaborated project, running more than 2hours with a USB powerbank in 30 degree Celsius recording 4K 10bit h265. Easy, not breaking a sweat. -
I hope you´re doing very good and everything is fine! Thank you very much for uploading so much test footage. It is a parade of nerd heaven!:) Is this external 10bit 422? My harddrives are bursting from footage at the moment, so how much data are the files? @mercer Wha?t about some footage of your cat? You would give Mattias Burlings Gunpowder a good run for the money. What´s your cats name, for a start?:) cheers

@BenEricson I loved your skater piece, which you shot on the F3 and on 16mm. Which parts of the footage were shot with what camera though! They intercut so seamlessly. Aweas some colour. The example you posted above does not look as awesome like yours colourwise, imho. Another example of stunning colour, even within the Fuji like greenish palette. Always associated Fujifilm with maginficienat greens. Hopefully there will be a project soon where I can put this camera to test!
