Canon 9th July "Reimagine" event for EOS R5 and R6 unveiling
PannySVHS replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
How do you think does the 1DC codec compare to the super tiny 75mbit h265 on the S1? I am pretty amazed by the latter, though I was able to break it in Resolve. The 10bit 422 150mbit on the GH5 I couldnt break. So that one seems to be one of the best codecs regarding compression and size ratio. -
🙂 I find it very heavy for shoulder work at the moment with my current rigging stuff. The monitor is very close to the eye. Putting the camera further away from the eye makes shoulder work impossible.

That was my first thought too.:) Ironfilm you are a cool cat with a F3. Now, get a second one!:) Video is kinda starting off in a boring manner. Just finished zapping through it. Not interesting. Good thing I only zapped through this. Not many people will buy a F3 after watching this video. Would love them to buy them though and do charming short films with them.
-
That would be awesome. Loved Geoffs beautiful colours in his shots. It is a bulky beast. If people buy them they must be very serious shooters. Would be fun to see an armada of them filming the heck out of them.
-
S1, S1H, count me in. Wouldnt mind Cind D and HLG to VLOG conversion for free as well:) GHA for S1 I would buy if possible to transfer the high quality of the GH5 and BMPCC 4K versions. BM version looks esp spectacular!

first music video, who cares! great music video! fits the music perfectly. besides that it is a showcase of cinematic talent behind and infront of the camera. colors, shot design, editing, rhythm within and between the shots, the whole experience, spiffy! A bit much grainyness sometimes for my taste, if digital. Who cares! Professional quality with a unique style and a unique video. Lovely.

The Big EOSHD interview: Metabones lens adapters
PannySVHS replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Hmm, would second that for a L to Mamiya 645 mount. Please! That would give the Kipon Baveyes some good companionship or not.:) -
I would NOT stay away from this great lens. My variante of it is beautiful, I cannot believe my eyes when coupled with my S1 and my GX85. As a photo lens it seems not sharp enough on a pixel level when wide open. As a film camera lens on a digital body- awesome rendering, fantastic colours except harsh backlight into the sun! By the way, that beauty starts at F2.5! Mechanically it is also a pure joy to use. Hanimex and Maginon are labels, not producers, just citing a bit of olypedia lens nerdom knowledge, if you allow.:) cheers

@IronFilm 5000 running hours for 5000 bucks.:)

Darn, this cam delivers with its tiny h265 75mbit flavour. Unbelieveable image quality for a codec like this. Shouldnt be that good! Battery life: Shot with it down to 40 percent. Next day turned the cam on and after pressing record it went down to 20 percent, which lasted me only a very few minutes of filming, 8bit 4k 50p really ran down these last 20 percent fast. I will keep the camera and will have to be equipped with three additional original batteries and an additional solid charging solution. Additional charger needs to be mechanically solid and especially not worse regarding charging than the cumbersome usb-charger-usb-box-cable-long-snake-solution.

Z-CAM quietly announce 8k and 6k FULL FRAME cameras - no joke!
PannySVHS replied to Oliver Daniel's topic in Cameras
@tweak, some crazy ass rebels infront and behind that camera! Hard to believe. What was your taking lens? -
That´s a tricky one for professional projects or projects where others rely on dependable tools. @Geoff_L Thank you for your input! I will see what I will do with mine. Image and ergos and mount are just too good to let go. Will give me some thinking and maybe some tinkering, if I keep it. cheers
-
@Cosimo, beautiful rendering of light. Now show us some moving images please, if you have a chance to. cheers
-
@kye I think the Super 16 mode of the GH5 would be a good mate to your BMMCC, with 4K 10bit up to 30p. ETC HD 1 to 1 crop would be very noisy.
-
@kye great setup and lens. Should give you some impressive image quality. You can also play with the Gh5, with its 1.4 crop mode giving you Super 16 format plus 4K.

@Geoff CB, thanks, Geoff. The BMD VA just looks so handy and perfect for the F3. Afaik, the F3 itselfs outputs 10bit 444 at the max? Here is a photo from Bens setup. The Video Assist also fits the width of the F3 very well at 5 inches diagonal.

Some more awesome footage from our friend Ben Ericson. Too bad he sold it a few days ago. Great for the buyer though, I can say on the other side. Happy that I bought that camera. With the 1080p 5inch version of the Blackmagic video assist it is a beautiful looking and practical setup with even 60p. Took that inspiration from Bens setup. Now I will wait for a video assist for little money, so I dont have to lugg around my big Atomos Shogun.

The Big EOSHD interview: Metabones lens adapters
PannySVHS replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
You rascal, I introduced the Kipon Baveyes to this forum. Bow your head to the king of this very post. I am also king of this sentence! @Andrew Reid, thank you for asking about the L-mount Speedbooster. Would love one for the 4K crop. Like androidlad stated, would be best to have one with stronger focal reduction thant the 0.71 version. That way speedboosted APSC would perfectly fit the full sensor FOV. Would also be interested to see the maximum image circle of FF lenses. -
@Andrew Reid Just a quick reply. They discuss some odds with testing method in the forum. Still, the Panasonic 10bit 150mbit codec is a feat, which has been treating filmmakers very well. Even pixel peeping professors like deezid found it to be impressive. Here is the link to the original test from Dec 2017, showing the qualities of this codec: https://www.agdok.de/de_DE/kameratest20172 A quick translate in deep l will do. I have been at Felix Trolldeniers grading suite once in Berlin, showing us footage on his color calibrated projector and screen. Really something. AG Dok did a screening at moviemento back then with their test results. Your friends at slashcam are really some kick ass people!
-
@Andrew Reid Hallo Andrew, regarding slim but powerful codecs, slashcam has a nice article out. Their mates from AG Dok tested a variety of cameras for use in documentary enviroment. S1 and S1H with their 150mb 10bit Inter Codecs still impress on the codec side. As I am still without the update on my S1, I can only relate to that coming from my experiences with the GH5. That codec was mightily impressing me back then. Right now I am in prep for a short and pending between a few great cameras (no red nor arri though due to non budget and no sponsorship:). The problems are not in the cameras but in the pending:) Pending without sufficient prep so far. Wish me luck.:)

So this leaves more attention for the famous EOSHD list of the less well known youtubers. Should become a sticky topic: https://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/35846-lesser-known-youtube-channels-people-should-know-about How about this guy. The Iggy Pop of youtube camera craze. Love the straighfowardness and his own kind of realness and also mellow cheesyness. Still plenty to see for the minute. Great entertainment and display of friendlyness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-O6YuBixTPY -
As much as I love Panny cams, PannySVHS sounds funny when called by forum owner or forum members.:) Back then it was a kewl name due to my exitement about my Lumix G6, which I bought because of Andrews test calling it the GH2.5. I will think into this alias thing.:) What I was seeing is having a battery working down to around 25 percent within a week. On the day of powering down, shooting a few 1min clips and photos, having power down at 20 percent and then camera shut down. This happened to me twice in a row. Have not had the desire to touch the camera since then. GH5 would still be my recommendation no.1 for any Lumix hybrid shooter sofore. Different beast, awesome battery life, perfect mix of image quality, reliability UI, versatility, and so on. UI on the S1 I find to clusterd and one step too much of into to submenues. Battery metering should be perfect for a workhorse or professional camera! Other than that, awesome image even in 8bit, great mount and body and so on.

Great idea. @heart0less Would love to see a tracking shot or dolly pushin like shot with it. Deep staging as well. Now I´m getting greedy:) Loved the shots from this thread in the anamorphic forum. Aweseome stuff: Btw, I would not have guessed that the test you posted above was with an Alexa Mini, but with a Fuji. All these affordable cameras put out an incredible image these days.
