I must correct, ALL of my forum friends, who had voted for the current potus back then, were very polite, kind and participating in a discussion, like voters for other authorities. Anyway, none of them got banned. So no need to put this thing into context with this thread. The potus is not in need of attention right now. He knows how to promote his conduct. Would be cool to have this thread free of potus stuff.

@rawshooter, would be awesome if sigma would give it some firmware updates. It is a beautiful formfactor with a lot of cool tech underneath and a new exiting mount.

Hallo Andrew, what flavour of ipd codec was it, 8 bit? The 8bit 4K from the Lumix S1 with its slim 100mbit is very strong. None of the artefacts like the example you posted. Seems like Sigma has not implemented the Panny codec.

@Viridian What is it that you don´t like about my post? That the discussion back then about Covid was viscious? Well then I take it as a compliment. Because I assume you rather support kind behaviour.

@BTM_Pix It was a joke, my friend. I guess it was a joke of a joke then. I had troubles with moderate usuage already. Never had before until now, twice in a row now. So thank you everyone for putting some light into this.

Hmm, tasty thread. Thanks. Now I´m off to Flickr and pixel peeping. Love this photo, from the plastic fantastic Canon 400d with one of the lenses mentioned above. Some oddity in the mix.

Great way to show off the DVX200 also. @heart0less

It was a coincidence that my experience with the battery failure came along when Andrew wrote about the SL2 failure. Funny. Or rather not.:) Why connecting it to the Panny app? Are you planning on something? Raw recording modification for less power draw? This experience sums it pretty much up for me: https://***URL removed***/forums/post/63941805 I am hesitating of buying another battery and maybe being equipped with two of them and thinking I can rely on the second one, when it will be failing me on a shoot instead. Thanks everyone for chimming in, Andrew and Geoff. For now I guess I will have to make up my mind.

@hempo22 I think the most powerful person in the world has already enough media attention, esp. in these days. Please leave it at this for this thread. The discussion back then was very disturbing. I would love your post to be deleted by Andrew. Some of my forum friends who voted for the current potus were still polite, kind and with generous amounts of emphathy. Sofore none of them got banned.

One of the many favorites of mine. Classy posts and even classy links.

@noone Tell you what, without a patronizing tone, of course!:) S1 in 4K at 25600 pushed by two stops downscaled to HD might look better. Will test that with my 50mm FD 1.4 these when I´m back home. Unless someone else is faster.:)

Dear Andrew, thank you very much for your reply! 1. manual lens, Soligor/Unitor 35-70mm zoom in FD mount- just to name it for the lens lovers among us:), sofore it was in 2. manual focus 3. ambient temperature about 20 to 25 degree Celcius, indoors 4. short video clips of ten to 120 seconds mostly 4k 8bit 25p full frame, ten percent h265 mode with 75mbit in the mix, 50 percent photos 5. battery about six monthis in use, problem occured the last two times in the row now within the last ten or so days. To give my perpective on it, original batteries from Panasonic never failed me on my G6, G7 and GX85 cameras. I have been using these cameras in 30 degrees air, under direct sun. GH5 has served me in super hot conditions for a whole week when we had 40 degrees in Germany two years ago. So would it be possible that the S1 gives that lack of battery performance after a certain period of battery usage, after a few months, I am thinking. If this is not the case I would just buy another original battery and be very happy with my camera. Even moreso once I got the Vlog ugrade.:)

Panasonic S1H review / hands-on - a true 6K full frame cinema camera
PannySVHS replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
@deezid That would be super cool!!:) Did you come across problems with the original battery? My camera shuts off at 20% battery power left. Have been using my S1 very moderately. Issue occured after six months of usage.:/ -
For lowlight I film at 4000iso with the Panny S1 and push it two stops in post. Massive low light quality for the S1 and probably S1H. Much, much better than ISO 12800! When filming with the rather slim 75mbit h256 10bit 420 codec, quality is even better. I was very surprised by that codec option.

Panasonic S1H review / hands-on - a true 6K full frame cinema camera

For me it would be: Pony up and get that S1 shortfilm on:) Just that battery issue i discovered with mine, shutting off at 20% battery life left, yikes. -
@Andrew Reid I assume you will love the quality of the image coming from this camera. Would love you to hear your impressions regarding the "cinematic" image, also in comparision to the Sigma FP or Lumix S1. cheers

Hallo friends, Before one buys a camera one of the rather important things for professional video is a reliable battery solution. That includes not only adequate battery life but precise power meterting and levels as well. It is very unpleasant to say the least to have a camera shut down during filming. My Lumix S1 has shut down twice in a row now at 20% power left. After six months of moderate usage the original battery seems not reliable anymore. Anyone of you S1 owners and users with the same issue? I am planning on selling my camera, as I am not willing to test and test for battery issues and to have to bother with doubts. Hopefully some of you can give some insights. Otherwise awesome sensor and soso menues. Pipeline in 8bit is also impressive. Cheers

Panasonic S1H review / hands-on - a true 6K full frame cinema camera
PannySVHS replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
@deezidzero sharpening look is looking good! Was it shot at 1080p or 4K? Image looks creamy. What lens did you use? How is the S1 holding up to the S1H with the FW 2.0? -
I second that. Regarding the infamouns DOF, the ZV1 with F2.8 at the long end would still give s35 look at 5.6 regarding dof. 1.8 would give a 3.5 at the wide end. So this camera wide open would give the same dof look like a standard kit lens on a Fuji XT4 or Nikon D500 (the latter in HD mode ). S16 format is often shot at f2.8. Sure thing, if one loves the handling for fictional work. Otherwise, no.:)

@MrSMW My S1 also has a battery problem. Second time directly after the first incident and after recharge it shut off at 20% remaining power. I am using the original battery. This is puzzling me. Do I buy another battery which will give me the same bug after a few months of moderate usage? Should I sell the camera? I bought it for image quality and portability. So it would be a pity to sell it. I was planning on using it on a rather challenging shoot. Now I would rather grab a GH5 instead. Afaik the SL2 is similar to the internals of the S1R. I would like to know if the S1 also has a problem with battery or if I just got a new model with a bad onion of a battery.

Panasonic S1H review / hands-on - a true 6K full frame cinema camera
PannySVHS replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
@deezid What´s your take on the S1 vs S1h regarding pure image quality now, after the update? Full analysis regarding ghosting, smearing, aliasing, harshness of edges and so on, as we have been appreciating it coming from you before, our dearest watcher of the cinematic VLOG image! cheers -
I proved to myself what I am capable of as an camera operator and originator of my own cinematography. I am pretty happy about my potential. But the it takes so much to keep senses and body and soul and metaphysics:) sharp. To keep the game up is where it is.That is the skill game. Hard enough for me to deliver all the time under these exhausting circumstances I having been working under. Now, the "industry game", getting paid well is even another story. A lot of talent struggling to make it as a creator. Many of them leaving the industry or switching towards being an AC, AD, Boom OP, PA and so on. I admire the amateur, I love Maya Deren and the likes. Nolan never did it for me. Super tough stuff to make but as much art to me as a super high skyscraper would be to me, none. I love my shit. To me it is art. I love a lot of your guys stuff. There is a photographic Gestalt to some of the images you people created one will not find anywhere else. So keep it up and sell the burden of too much gear for a darn good price. There are many out there willing to buy some of that promise of newly acquired happiness.:)

I second Djangos thought on the lenses. Left one is a Vivitar? Don´t have my 90mm with me as I am on the road. Not the 90mm I think. Middle I won´t tell, too awesome of a lens it is. Andrew has already mentioned it:) Camera I think is S1. Rich focus rolloff with characteristic corners from the FF lens, thick colours. Funny if all of ous got a bit fooled by our preassumptions.
