  1. hlg uses the entire range of the the 1024 values, so for low light it should give less artefacts. For SDR delivery i shouldnt make a difference on the GH5s at ISO6400. For HDR delivery we are not able to tell yet:)
  2. GH5s is a legit iso 6400 camera, without artefacts and Super Nintendo blocks and blotches of a Sony A6300/6500 in LOG mode. Giving a really usuable image at that sensitivity. Here is the HLG comparison between the GH5 and its S sister. Again 12Lux, iso6400, 25th shutter, F2.8 GH5 GH5s
  3. That´s how our films should be seen too:) There is a big difference in this super lowlight setup when you enlarge them to original size. Better check it out again on your computer:)
  4. right click and new tab to enlarge both and compare them. it´s a very obvious difference between the two:)
  5. The non leica version with f3.5 to 5.6 would save you some money for the GH5s:)
  6. @DBounce I wouldnt write VLOG off. Check this comparison in real low light: GH5s and GH5 compared in VLOG at iso6400, 12LUX!, shutter 1/25, Fstop 2.8: GH5: GH5s
  7. Hello, HLG with its dynamic range and color is a great curve and color space of 2020 to work and in future to deliver in. It uses the full 10bit range, whereas VLOG uses a smaller range from 128 to 768 compared to the full range from 0 to 1024. On the camera, congratulations! Enjoy your 6400 iso 10bit lowlight camera with up to 100 fps slomo in pixel perfect HD resolution! Vlog l has some awesome color science, so a great thing to have.
  8. Jitter. Normal shake without stabilization looks different and so does IBIS. Seems like the lens would not play well with your camera.
  9. GH5s processing is not making anything worse than that of GH5. Best to shoot both cameras with noise and sharpening at -5. Look at Luk Neumanns launch video for enjoyment of what this camera has to offer. No denying in my opinion. 1.66 stop advantage over GH5 comes from Pana exec talking with the two kewl Gentleman from the channel I posted above, that advantages shows in the photo raw comparison tool of Dpreview.
  10. slashcam is your friend, dee:) I think I saw some of your posts in the forum, fortunately not arguing about true 4K with that one eloquent senior member To me footage looks less sharpened than GH5 but still not in the same league as a lower dynamic range version of the EVA1 would be.
  11. I see no plastic skin whatsoever. I see great, awesome lowlight, ready for big screens and projevtion. In raw photo mode it has the acclaimed 1.66 to 2 iso steps advantage above the GH5 in lowlight, in video even 2-2.5 iso steps. Especially skin looks richer with more sublte and accurate tones. Pixel perfect HD up to 105fps. I think you will be proven wrong by your estimation. Professional users will purchase this camera and achieve exellent results. Just like a variety of exellent launch films has shown.
  12. From what I have seen GH5s shows much better color fidelity at low light and better overall image, an advantage of two iso steps, 6400 perfectly usuable. That is quiete the opposite to your findings Give extrashot on youtube a try.
  13. If 3680 px width for 4 to 3 format photos goes along with sensor width of 17.3mm, then 4096px for C4K should have 4096px / 3860px x 17.3mm =19.25mm sensor width. Giving us a crop factor compared to FFrame as follows: 36mm/19.25mm = 1.87. Giving us theoretically a speedboosted factor of 1.87x0.58=1.08. So math is right. But in practice it might be different, because the optics of the Bmpcc speedbooster work to its full extent with a factor 0.58 on the Bmpcc only. The larger the difference in sensor size goes, compared to the BMPCC s16 sensor, the less boost it´s giving us. They show the 1.66 increase in sensitivity as advertised by Panasonic. In video it is rather a difference of 2-2.5 ISO steps in sensitivity, giving us better ISO 6400 than GH5 at 1600 ISO. They should come up with a video comparison as well.
  14. Panasonic will take advandtage of the 2020 Olympics in their own country to launch new hybrids. Tokyo 2020, heck yes, you bet they gonna launch some nice cameras. Pride in their tech and national heritage commands that opportunity like no other! 3 CMOS 2/3 inch 4K broadcast cameras from Ikemgami and JVC, very recent 4K tech too:)
  15. Or the regular mft sensor only provides us with 15.5mm. What a treachery!:)
  16. Hey Max, but only because you are up to some great treats real life has to offer, I am sure! Don´t bother with one or two polemic comments in this thread. You are contributing very well written, very interesting and knowledgeabele articles, providing perspectives and approaches to novice techies like me and others. What I know is, DR helps big time to avoid clipping. What I also know, 8bit SLOG does that by stealing too many values in the dark areas, giving us natiest banding of two color values instead of gradations of 20-60 values. This is something I found in your comments as well beside a whole lot of interesting observations. Anyway, great post of yours and some great arguments and knowledge from some other posters as well.

Holy cow, Matt! That is some massive color! Is it filmed with a higer bitrate with magic lantern? @mercer Glenn, your shots and color look like cinema. Not just cool but DOPe!
  19. This This!!!:) Even for musicvideos I sometimes turn the music off to evaluate the visuals. Even some very trickery and expensive visuals cannot hide their lack of imagination sometimes. I watched a super hip hexy sexy musicvideo a few days ago. I left the music off, to see, if it was more than trickery. It was not, it was a complete rip off of from Wong Kar Wais and Chris Doyles masterpiece "Fallen Angels", but not referrencing or admittingly using inspiration, but copycatting into a lackluster montage and story.
  20. Hey Gregor, tomorrow it´s gonna be beautiful in Berlin. So Andrew should grab a shot or two, don´t you think?:) We would love to see some classic footage from the fleamarket crowd and all the chills and thrills in beautiful sun and sunset, hmm, sunrise too, it´s gonna be a long day of beautiful footage!!!:)
  21. @mercer, you beat me with the first Like by one second! @hyalinejim, massively great color. Pics don´t look good but fantastic! Awesome write up. Super fun to read. One of the most interesting and enjoyable posts of the last weeks. Thank you!
  22. You as filmmakers are referring to my honest and very positive feedback in a way that does not do anything to give me a smile as well. Did you get me argumentation? You both know the power and craft of silent film. To judge the visual interest of a very short clip is to concentrate on the visuality of a film, espcially when it´s only 1min long. To do a 480p test on Jons video was a compliment and trust towards the very high resolving lens. It´s the only time I have seen such good 480p on youtube. Hey Mattias, great find! It would be awesome, to get this pony running with a Bmpcc speed booster: 0.58x1.796= 1.04, plus 1.7 stops increase in light gathering!
  23. Yeah, I think that´s an exellent idea. Minus the osiris lut and color will look better too:)
