  1. Hey guys, I like the image out of the EX1, which is comparable to a GH2 when it comes to color fidelity and low light performance. That in combination with the super fun pro camcorder body with a nice zoom lens with rings for aperture, focus and zoom. It has NDs, great stabilization, great controls, stupid menu:) Very versatile, fun to use, nice image. And CCD magic, guys! That EX1 mojo with its triple CCD magic:) Now, finding a EX1 below 1000EU is not possible. So I started looking for alternatives, which turned out to be either cheap with not convincing image or expensive with a nice image. Speaking of Sony PDW 200, the pimped EX1 here. So I figured, if there might be some HDV camcorder in the great body of an EX1.There are some like a Sony HVR Z5, which can even be used with an additional flash recorder instead of DV Tape. But image didnt convince me enough, too much aliasing going on. So I became to open this thread. Sony F3 is the ongoing darling of this forum and really tempting. Still not a cheap package with an external rekorder. AF100 has the image of a GH2 in a real camera body. For 500EU it would be tempting. So my question was, if it gives out a better image quality to a recorder, like intraframe 8bit 422. And if it was easy to rig up and use as a shoulder camera for longer shoots. FS700 with a Shogun is ridicilous in the sense that it is so small and light and that it puts out such a great image, but I don´t like the ergos and price is still prosumer region:) There was a thread about DVX100 mojo. I look for something like that with a much better image and without tapes, for an amateur auteur price:) I think the most compelling cameras I found in the 3chip category besides the legendary EX1 are Sony AX2000 and Panasonic AC90, the latter still around 1500, though. AX2000 for 500EU would be worth a look for me, it is still runnig for 800 plus. So there are no "cheap" 3CCD or 3CMOS EX1 style cameras. I wouldnt mind trying modern 1inch cams like the X70, but these guys are not cheap at all. That´s why I was looking for alternatives, that and some CCD magic. Though the AX2000 has 3 CMOS chips. But it writes to cards, has a nice and stabilized lens, has NDs and puts out an appealing image. Hey Liam, Sony AX2000 might have some appeal:) So far my first pick.
  2. Hey guys, It´s kinda odd, having a Lumix G6 and loving it. Loving the UHD image from my GX85 but not doing shorts with it, having a G7 in the closet laying around. But being intrigued by the AF100. There are some avid AF100 lovers around here. So my question is, if recording external with an Atomos Ninja or better Samurai (SDI) is giving me a better image than the small 28mbit AVCHD files from internal recording? What are your experiences with making it a shoulder cam, plus external recording, pluc older ENG lenses? I have also been browsing the net lately for some old school cams. Would love a camcorder with image quality and stabilized lens and body like a Sony EX1. But these still range around 2000EU. Older HDV cam don´t have the image quality of clean progressively recorded frames. Also, it should record to cards. The Sony ZV5 does that to an external Flash recorder and looks to give a clean noninterlaced image in 1440x1080. Any suggestions for clean 720p or 1080p 3chip camcorders? AC90 from Panasonic looks nice but is also around 1200- 1500 EU.
  3. I think, framing, shot design and lenswork is superbly well done from 1.40 on! Really great job, A+ rating. Before that it does not have that quality, neither regarding framing nor rhythm nor shotdesign, lighting the least:). But from 1.40 really beautifully shot, with true talent and skill. Also showing of the lens very nicely as well
  4. Yeah, I see that point about feeling and actually being lectured without actually being in need of it. Climate change is as real as is the north pole melting. Trailer seems interesting to me, if not as a study, what players are in the field of debate, politics and economics. If not as a study of Canon RAW filmmaking.
  5. I would like to see this documentary because of the voices themselves, not because of their specific pros and cons regarding climate change. There are more benefits and gains one can get from seeing this. To some it might be the first time they are confronted with this topic in RAW cinematic beauty. Who has watched this film anyhow? Not more people exited about the BTS knowledge, which Andrews article provided? Also, interesting voices in this movie. As it seems from the trailer, it gives a good overview on players in this field of debate and industry. I rather watch this movie, instead of just reading an article about it. I would read it afterwards though. Just like I did with Bladerunner 2049 reviews, other than the one from James Bernadelli, which I always have to have a short glance at beforehand:)
  6. Oh, this sounds at first a little bit strict to me. On second thought, thank you very much for opening your suggestion with such kind words. I almost did it again:) @maxotics , putting the word SPOILER here for those who have not watched the film yet, so spoiler alert!- I thought the same, the killing of the newly born adult replicant was very unpleasant and seemed like a vehicle for Jared Leto only to show off his acting. In general I felt his character was like Stallone in his 80ies flicks, showing off some prowess, not in muscles but in grim looks. Remember when Stallone flexed his muscles in every shot, just like a fitness poser on instagram? That´s how I felt about Jared Letos character- just an opportunity to let him give us his wicked looks. Bautistas role at the beginning of the movie on the other hand was a very well written, with a fine performance of his. Did you watch it on Sunday then, 20.30, Neukölln Arkaden? That´s were I went. I was a little bit annoyed about the emercency lights in the beginning, which were left and the right of the screen. Also, for this movie I would have enjoyed a bigger screen. It´s a film one might be able to enjoy even more in the privacy of a home theater, close to the large TV screen.
  7. Watched it today. Have a direct comparision to the original, as I have watched it for the first time right before some friends and me went to the cinema. The original was very enjoyable as was the recent incarnation. Both with similarities but total different beasts in other ways. 2049 is a real cinematic experience like the first one is. The longer and calmer scenes gave it its own rhythm and tension. Some of the deaths felt not necessary nor helpful for the story and the film itself. The photography is impressive and must be seen on a big screen. The bigger the better. James Bernadellis review describes the qualities of this film very well. Visually it´s a masterpiece, plot wise it does fine.
  8. Well, Marco, if you like to, install the Lite version and enjoy. For grading it really is an awesome piece of software!
  9. guess I´ll have to check myself then:) will check that out, though not so much well looking cineD footage outthere besides yours or some Italian wedding footage with the GH5 in 10bit.
  10. Kidz´A6500 is the best footage of Sony DSLM night footage I´ve seen, looking like oil paint rather than this akward charcoal look. No banding witnessed there:) @mercer, weren´t you planning on getting a A6500 yourself? Sorry for the temptation, but you must resist and be strong:) Just had to teaze you a bit:) CinedD, well, until now I don´t have so much trust in it at the moment. Though there is some awesome but rarely awesome footage shot with it on vimeos clips. Maybe I should take out my G7, which I have not used at all, and do some CineD filming and give it a try. @kidzrevil, hey kidz, what are the adequate luts for cineD?
  11. Exactly. Exellent comment to an exellent review, with exellent footage from an exellent camera. But bummer, where is the footage
  12. Exellent color but vibe also. Love it, as always! So, your fave profile for G85 is natural rather than Cine D? Myself, I love natural. I´ve been keeping on regrading some of my older G6 footage. Well graded Panny color is monster!
  13. @IronFilm, I dare you to post a link without your own awesome opinion about it It's just so much more fun with you guys' opinions and comments. So much more to learn from and to enjoy. Imagine an Andrew Reid article consisting of links only. No fun, right? But nice post and link anyway. Extrashot is becoming a favorite of mine.
  14. From your sample it seems, the Panny might be second for certain light situations compared to the sony though. Lookin creamy as heck! Lookin forward to seein more.
  15. On S35, speedboosted m43, it would be the 28mm 2.0 Contax Zeiss. @Snowfun, you knew that one would come up, didn't you? Though I cannot stretch it enough how awesome the Canon FD 28mm 2.8 lens is on speedboosted m43. Razor sharp wide open and so cheap, crazy! But the lens body feels a little bit too tiny.
  16. @kidzrevil , hey, could it be that this has the best kidz colors ever? lookin fantastic! But there are still two pieces of yours with equal great color, both with the G85 and one shot in portrait mode I remember. So neutral style means cine3 profile was turned off and not in use then? cheers Edit: really lookin massive! what strength did your tiffens have?
  17. The doc on your grandpa was very beautiful and very well done. Sorry for your loss. I was hoping your grandpa would live to be a 113 like his aunt. It is really great to have a beautiful documentary like this of a loved one. Very well done! Yeah, we camera lovers have a sharp eye and a soft heart for cameras:) LX200 with mic in and a mechanical focus ring and IBIS and pixel perfect HD up to 60fps with at least 100mbit would be an instant buy for me:)
  18. To me it was. I´ve been a Panny fan for years. And GH4 filmmaking is an indicator what even greater can be done with an EVA. It is always great to see GH4 footage in comparison with footage from a camera like EVA. The latter one clearly being the superiour camera. The former one with the better filmmakers at hand still, such as producers like Zak. The remark about Red- I hundred percent agree with you though on that one.
  19. Looking great. Exellent trailer! When will it be out? Is your film "Down and Dangerous" available for VOD? Edit: Just checked, it´s on Itunes.

Looking great. Had to dl and grade that footage pretty quick:)
  21. Fun video, just had to watch two episodes from their channel. Down to earth and delightful presentation. The presenter comes across a bit like Phillip Blooms older brother. I enjoyed just listening to the audio of this video. So, UMPro is good in low light indeed
  22. @sgreszcz, nice video and great effort. I think your audience must be very happy with your documentary. One other thing, your mididoc about your grandpa was very beautifully done! In your BTS you write, you´ve been using the EP5, but your BTS video shows the LX100 and the GX7, great cameras too of course. Just saying
  23. Punchy colors and vibrancy are not making things look like video, neither does deep focus. Taxi Driver most definately does not look like video. I think your A7Sii color could benefit from EOSHD Pro. People are getting nice results with it.
  24. The color in your wedding and concert films is still on the video side of tones. I think EOSHD color would improve the color in your videos. People are getting great results with it. https://www.eoshd.com/pro-log
  25. That´s right. That´s what I´d go for. 200MBit is the right data rate for ALL I HD. What profile did you test the sharpening with? Would be awesome to have a REC709/2020 profile without any sharpening.
