Yes, yes, yaw. Thanks to Seb Farges and his awesome videos I got myself an awesome SLR Magic 12mm T1.6 now! Yeeehaw! @jonpais, now we can do a battle of the 12mills. Oly 12mm 2.0 anyone?:) I am so happy, my first native lens in two years. My list now: classic 14-45mm, Panny 20mm 1.7, Oly 45 1.8 and soon in my hands SLR Magic. Magic! Nice vibe, really! One of the nice vibes masters is Seb Farges.

Love that lens more than the 24-40. It is lighter, ergonomics are close to perfect with a small cam like my GX85. Optically I think they are of same quality when it comes to resolution. The 24-40 has a beautiful heft, which is also beautiful to hold on to. For the 25-50 I paid only 15bucks, with postage plus an extra defect Sigma Zoommaster 35-70 2.8-3.5. Great bargain. Love the math behind it: 25x2 makes 50, great focal lenghts to have in one lens. Dunno, just like that lens a lot. It is a flare giant though. Would love to test the Rokkor 24-50 F4. That is not a bargain lens though. Would love to have a 25-75, there is none. What mount is your 25 50? Mountable on your 5D Mark III? Supercool range on that one for Fullframe RAW video? Please get that combo on, some day, Glenn!! Back to the thread now:)

Hallo Glenn, there was a Firmware update for HD 10bit 24p and 60p in April, 100mbit Long GOP, which should be a very, very fine codec. This is awesome, since the HD is pixel perfect Canon Cinema level up to 60p. HD from GX80 suffers Aliasing and Moire and has not the resolution of the G6. Bitrate is same, codec seemingly so. Downsampling from the sensor cannot be the same. Well I got two Oly cameras, a Pen EPL1 and a EP2. Should change my alias to PannySVHSpen:) Oly was always JPEG king before Fuji took the crown. I am scared of Panny Jpegs:) So EM5II seems a fun option. They still go for the same price as a G80 on the used market. By the way. G6 is really an awesome cam. Graded, it is the best image for the money and it is the best usablitiy for the money. I have convinced three people in the last two years to buy one:) I also like the feel of the body much better than from the G7. Have the G7 for four months now and have not filmed a single thing other than a CineD test for dynamic range testing. The G7s HD looks to be even better than from the G6 resolution wise. Saw a test on youtube comparing HD and the EX Tele modes.. Still, G6 ist the queen, Gh2 the legend, Gh4 the shining prince, GH3 the lost son and GH5 the king. G7 the beautiful princess, G85 the spectacular princess, GX85 the dandy niece princess. And GH1 the originator, Little Richard the Great.

Yeah, there are two great deals on renting a GH5 via sharing platform where I live. Package with two 64GB cards. I think I would shoot 1080p and 100mbit. Not sure if it has VLOG installed. Not sure about the use of CineD. I don´t have that much time for testing, so maybe in the end I shoot Natural again. A new camera is always raising new questions.

Hey Matt, pace and interviews and overall experience are nice. Gives me a nice artsfair vibe. Sometimes the harshness of the 12- 35 came through and some of the shakiness. I think a more moderate wide angle would be more tasty than a 12mm. I think the perfect setup would be a G85 with a China speedbooster and a Tokina 25-50mm F4. That also gives a nice mechanical control ring to the manual zoom. Did you turn sharpness all down to -5 on CineD?

Okay, Jon @jonpais and Glenn @mercer, It is starting to materialize. I will reshoot my exercise as a shortfilm end of August. It is going to have a vampire in it. Not sure, if shooting with G6, GX85 or renting a GH5. My GX85 is still depending on just one battery. No good:) Maybe this time using the luxury of a BCam.. Dreaming

Cool! Gonna watch more of their videos. It´s a fun thing because of the BTS knowledge you´ve been giving to all of us here on EOSHD. That makes watching even more worthwhile regarding a learning effect. Great stuff. Fuzzynormal of EOSHD is also a shooter who makes these small cameras shine in a very elegant and seemingly effortless manner. Art of Zen. Thanks for showing! Slider, no curve tracks then. You must be a wizzard of optical illusion then

Well done and shot short film. I pressed the prestigeous EOSHD like button. Chim in more. It´s a fun forum. cheers

Don´t make me buy those! Darn!:)

@cantsin, good question. I doubt there is a cheap good 24mm f2.0 lens. The Walimex 24mm 1.4 is not there, starts being sharp from 2.8 on, Fstop 1.4 for distant shots is miserable with it. For photo work the Oly 1.2 might be hard to beat in the 17mm m43 realm. For that money though I´d rather get a GH5 plus a SLR magic 12mm 1.6 and use its 1.4 crop for 4K Extele mode, making it like a 17mm lens on full frame M43. Full frame M43 sounds funky

Hey Oliver, great topic. Thanks for posting. I don´t use luts on REC709 footage, which I´ve mostly been shooting so far other than some FS700 8bit SLOG tests. The only ones I used with success are from Juan Melara, his free Kodak and Fuji Print Luts. Some interesting results can be achieved. But after two or three months I started to grade all my footage by hand. More reliable workflow with much better control and achieving better results regarding the final look. Here is my latest example of 8bit REC709 footage, shot with the kewl and always fresh Panny G6:) By the way, Oliver, we would love to see more of your awesome work in context with the cameras you shot them with. I think you could give great BTS glimpses into the trickery of small cam big result magic! Well here my latest shot and hand graded piece:

How could you let it go? It´s a Zuiko!:) What two 28mm f2s do you have? Had a Kiron Kino f2, which performed astonishingly poor unfortunately for my taste. Though it was in perfect condition, like brand new. Well, couldnt resist. I must post another Seb video. This time the legendary 12mm. Will be my next lens and a native one after a long time again. So here it goes, 12mm slr magic from the king of lens tests:

Great looking footage, Matt! That G7 and 12-35 combo is lookin great. So you used a curved dolly track filming on the wide end of 12mm? Looking exellent. I think you make every camera shine with your lighting and set up of a scene. Great work! Did you shoot more for hecticfilms? cheers
-
You lucky!:) I won and bought an Olympus Zuiko 28mm F2.0. Hope to get to test it soon. Need to buy another adpater. It´s just not fun to buy adapters as it is with buying lenses. cheers

It is a great pleasure to read Andrews latest articles. They are awesome, informative, entertaining and beautiful reads, awesome trademark quality content. This article I do not agree with, regarding its premise. From 3200 ISO on D5 and D500 sensors are among best in their classes, trumping Canon and Samsung cameras. DXO numbers show minor differences. DXO numbers have always been taken with a grain of salt from a lot of people on this forum. So why would they matter now regarding the small differences they are showing between NX500 and D500? Andrew is still right on the awesome performance and value of the NX500 and its competitive image quality even compared with the newest APS C cameras from Nikon.

Congrats! As far as I know, the ZF is sharper at the edges when wide open and sharper for distant shots when wide open. Flaring is also much less. Great buy, you got yourself a modern "Hollywood". Oh, yeah, and show us some footage please, if possible. Beautiful lenstest vids are the best!

@kidzrevil, you better tell us the focal length(s) you naughty! Looking gooood. Where is the video?:) cheers Never getting tired of some good old fashioned Seb Farges action. He is the man of joyful video work, full of life and energy and awesome taste in lenses. Here it comes, from the man himself, slr magic 10mm: Enjoy I bet Zak, @Zak Forsman, can give some more insight on the slr magic 10mm. I think it shows some very interesting characteristics in term of close to midshot distance bokeh, great dynamic perspective when moved in z axis and around the subject. See yourself in a lenstest video from Sabi Company:

Mission impossible. Thank you and thread closed I like this idea. Somebody? Nah, thread closed for sure

The 35mm 2.0 Zeiss on the RX1 is supposed to be the best 35mm lens to sensor combination as we know it. There is a seller offering the lens module for 130 GBP. Any ideas to modd this baby onto any modern camera mount, supposely to Sony E-mount, as flange distance on the RX1 is very short? Would be awesome to see that baby in action on Emount cameras. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sony-Zeiss-35mm-2-0-lens-module-for-Sony-RX1-/152625992700?hash=item238937d3fc:g:c9UAAOSwyWZZPnb5

Hey Mark! A7s has pretty much pixel perfect 1080p and should compare very well to downscaled 4K.
-
And, beautifully, 1080p is perfect 1080p resolution, even seemingly better than C100/300 and it keeps that quality up to 60p, with some detoriation up to 75fps and from thereon going downhill until 180fps. Would have been awesome to have pixel perfect HD up to 120 or 100 fps.

Hey Glenn, awesome find. Visually one of the best DSLM/R cinema verite style narrative shorts I´ve seen in months, if not the best. The montage is stunning, leaving more impact on me than the highly acclaimed eyecandy piece "Towers of Turkey". Thanks for showing, very inspiring piece for every single no/low budget filmlover/maker. Colors are magnificient. @meudig, Panasonic G85, better HD than GX85 and mic in. IBIS, 4K, 60p, strong 8bit codec, CineD, nice colors. It doesn´t have audio out though.
