  1. Do you still need footage from the GX80? Just got mine yesterday. Any specific picture profile, WB settings, etc?
  2. The GX80 finally arrived in Norway too. First impressions are really good and stabilizer is truly amazing! If anyone is building a rig with an external monitor please share some images of it.
  3. @Michael Ma I live in an a classic old apartment and it's pretty hard to find a 100% straight surface here to do the gyro calibration. It seemed straight according the in-camera-leveller, so I didn't want to mess things up even more. You could be right though, cause even when I was walking really slowly it buzzed mildly to cause camera shakes. Same when tilting it 90 degrees forward. I agree with everything you said. The marketing is not very accurate and it would be better for everyone if they just took the time to show and tell us how to use the device. The lack of support and documentation is poor. This is the first time I hear that this might be the problem and they should have told me straight away when I said it was not working. 1.2.3.4.5 etc checklist. "Let's figure out what's wrong!" I sent it back as they didn't have any suggestions for how I could get it working, other then adjusting PID which didn't help. I couldn't sell it either so it's probably gonna cost me 200-500 USD depending on of they give me a full refund or not.
  4. I'm not sure, check out reviews btw, @photographer-at-large posted a link to a to the successor of Came-TV Single on page 7 in this thread.
  5. I haven't used it, but I believe that If you mess with PID you breach warranty. I'm not 100% sure though. Check out Cheesy Cam, Dave Dugdale etc I hear you, but when the manufacturer tells me that it works out of the box, I don't expect to spend 10 x times more time trying to get the unit do work than actually using it. As I said maybe I got a bad unit, the USB cable with extended connecter didn't work until I unscrewed the handle and updated the software with another USB cable. Even with Pilotfly's own settings it causes camera shakes when panning and tilting from time to time. As I said I would not recommend this product to anyone who's not willing to spend a lot of time learning PID. With that said I believe the H2 has the most potential of the 3-axis gimbals on the market right now, but it's just not for me. Expensive lesson learned.
  6. Agreed. I think on the Came TV gimbal's you actually can't mess around with PID settings, but I'm done with gimbals for a while. Let's wait and see how Panasonic B.I.S works!
  7. Sorry guys but I'm cutting my losses and sending it back. I tried to load Yoshihide PID settings and Pilotfly's settings that they posted on facebook yesterday and it just keeps freaking out. I had to unscrew the handle back and forth to change settings and switching between different USB cables, sometimes bluetooth works and sometimes not. I've been getting a lot of error messages. But I assume all gimbal manufacturers buy boards from BaseCam Electronics and uses their software, so I'm not sure who to blame, Pilotfly, BaseCam or myself. Maybe I just got a bad one, who knows. This gimbal might be easy to balance, but if you want your footage to look like Dave's or Yoshihide's you better start learning PID and spend a lot of time learning to walk. The H2 sure has plenty of potential and the 2-hand handle is really nice, but for my needs I rather get a GX85 for now and wait for the GH5. A lot of people are having great results with DS1, H1+ and a few with H2 so far, but unfortunately I'm not one of them. Cinegain stated in an earlier post that he wanted something idiot proof, and in my experience the H2 is not.
  8. Get that man an English interpreter!! It really looks amazing! He made a video with PID settings for A6300 + 10-18 which is 629 grams, which is roughly a GH4 with 15mm. I will give the settings a try when I have time. It's raining here but I did a short test with GH4 + 12-35mm and the pistol grip yesterday. It's pretty heavy and the footage was bouncy, not worth uploading. It was my first try with a gimbal but I have to see how it works to figure out how to use it. As you know Yoshihide is using the 2-hand handle and his own optimized PID settings. If you haven't used a gimbal before don't expect anything like Dave's first test though. It's a lot harder than it looks. The heavy shakes etc only occurs when I tried to flip to motor to use the vari-angle screen and before I managed to update the unit. I could upload some footage but wouldn't it be fair to let them try to sort it out first? If the weather allows it I will do some test with the 15mm during the weekend.
  9. Update on the H2! First off all, the unit I received was not working straight out of the box as advertised. I don't know if was unlucky as I got one of the first shipments, 28th March. Unfortunately support was limited to short sentences and the fix was not very intuitive, at least for a Mac user. Here's how I got my unit working: 1. The USB cable that came with the product was not recognized by my Mac or my friends PC. We unscrewed the handle and tried another cable (the lock-ring on the handle is blocking the USB-entrance so you're supposed to use the the supplied cable which is a bit longer). 2. We managed to establish a connection with a PC and update the firmware as described in Team Pilotfly's video, see Cinegain's latest post. Note that you need a PC to update the firmware, doesn't work with mac. 3. After the firmware was updated I mounted the handle and tried to connect with the supplied USB cable to my mac, and it worked. Go figure!? It's also possible to adjust the settings via USB to Mac or via Bluetooth, but you need a freaking PC to update the firmware!! I adjusted the settings as described in the video. I haven't tested the unit outside yet, but it seems to be working as it should. It's exhausted from trial and error and is charging right now. I will post some tests later today or tomorrow. Vari-angle screen mode for GH4 etc 1. IMO the unit is not designed to have the motor on the right to make space for a vari-angle screen but it is possible according to Pilotfly. 2. Only problem is that it's not working for me and at least one other commenter on the video that describes the procedure! The motors are working to hard causing heavy shakes, rolling shutter and noise. 3. Home mode doesn't work, and they haven't said anything about whether they are working on a solution or not. 4. The extra safety pin on the baseplate/cameraplate is not compatible in this mode so make sure to tighten the srew. (Not a big deal) The last thing is that you can hear the motors buzzing (in a quiet room) when they're compensating for movement. I don't know if this is normal for all of these devices? Footage coming soon! hopefully...
  10. That's the videos I used when I was balancing and trying to upgrade. I have both and the plan was to replace them with 2 GH5's. Didn't expect any Panasonic cameras to have BIS that good (!) and for most part BIS is all I need. That opinion might change after using the H2 for a while though But seriously, a set consisting off 2 GX85 or 2 GH5's with native lenses would make an exceptional kit for run & gun and travel! I might get 2-3000 NOK for GH3 and GX85 is 7500 NOK. I saw you got a G7 for 4000 SEK (NOK) in Sweden and Cyberphoto had the same price for G7 in Norway a while back, so I will definitely get one if there's a similar deal for GX85 In the second video it would be nice if he explained what he is adjusting, and do you have to do this or is it optional? I think Dave also said you can use straight out of the box and tune if you like to. They should really hire someone who speaks English to make complete guides of everything. I'll let you know when I'm out flying!
  11. Thanks! I balanced it watching a video from Cheesycam with H1 and another one from Pilotfly. It's supposed to be a 2-minute balance so I don't think that's the problem. Hopefully I can get it sorted with the update today. If not then it's probably a faulty unit and I have to send it back. I think they buy the 32 bit boards from Basecam Electronics who also makes the software. They don't have IOS app either, only Android. I agree that's very weird they don't support Apple products. I actually considered sending it back, selling my GH3/GH4 and getting 2 GX85. The image in 4K is probably better, but I'm not sure it's worth loosing Cine profiles, slow motion, vari-angle screen, batterylife, etc. I haven't seen any info on the crop either. As I said earlier I think the GH5 is gonna rock, so it's probably best to wait another 6 months!
  12. I received my Pilotfly H2 yesterday but unfortunately there's not much to report because I haven't got it working properly yet. I balanced it and it seemed to be ok, but when I started it the motors were working heavily causing severe rolling shutter and unusable footage. After trying different lenses and setups waiting for customer support they told me it could be the old firmware. After installing USB driver, the Android app and Mac software which need to be activated via terminal it turns out the upgrade doesn't work on Mac. Then I was told to download Parallell to run Windows. So I did that but I obviously don't have a Windows license as a Mac user so that's not exactly helpful either. I have to borrow a Windows PC and see if I get get it working. In my last email I told them that I still believe it's a good product but I am really disappointed it doesn't work out of the box, as advertised. They told I could return it and get my money back...
  13. Strange that he didnt mention the 2-hand handle which I think is one of the most important features. Not only for stability when running and walking but also for fatique. There might be an updated version of H1+ soon also so if youre not in a hurry... I will getting mine next week so if there is anything you want to know thats not been mentioned by reviewers just let me know.
  14. If you cant get decent skintones out of G7 or GH4 with Neutral or Cine D + Leeming Lut its not the cameras fault.
  15. @Cinegain I thought I recognized you in the Guinness book of records for most m43 lenses! Must be nice to have a selection, but how do you choose what to use ? I "only" have PL 15, 25, 42,5, P 12-35mm, 12-32mm, 35-100mm, 35-100mm mini and Oly 60mm, but I still have to consider what to take with me. Loving the primes but zooms are convenient. I actually didnt like the Oly 45mm, but absolutely love Nocticron, which I use mostly for stills. The Oly 60mm and 75mm are amazing too. The Veydras are my dream lenses for m43 but I will not buy them until I learn to make better use of them, only then would it be worth it for me. The SLR Magic 10mm will do for now
  16. @Cinegain I think I am going for the SLR Magic 10mm. Yeah, I am gonna fly it on H2, but I also plan to use it for travel photography, so the Tokina is a little big I think. Do you have the Leica 25mm too? I think its a great little lens and it stands out from the normal Panny lenses. I have to see how it pairs with the SLR Magic 10mm, might have to look in to that SLR Magic 25mm in the future. I tried the Veydra Lenses and the aperture ring and focus ring were so much easier to use for video! I would prefer to have one set for both video and stills, but we cant have it all I guess...
  17. Thanks for advice! I know its 23 in 4K, but its 20mm in 50p and for stills, and probably the GH5 as well. I heard about the Leica 12mm but I already have the 12-35mm so probably gonna skip that for now, even though I am very pleased with the other Pana Leicas, 15, 25 and 42,5. The Oly 7-14mm is too big and also expensive + the filter situation. Have you tried the Panny 7-14? Its half the weight and I have seen it often on the used market, but its only f/4.0...
  18. Hi! I am looking for ultra wide angle prime for GH4. Thinking about pulling the trigger on the SLR Magic 10mm T2.1. Is there any other setup (MB+lens) or lens you think I should consider? The Voigtlander is too big and expensive and I dont think there is any other native UWA. Thanks!
  19. Andrew, thanks for the review! Do you still rate this lens as the best native wide angle for GH4? Or do you recommend a SB booster with something else...I would prefer a native lens due too size and weight but I am open for other suggestions.
  20. I bought from the international site so I could pay in USD which is cheaper for me. You can preorder at BH also at 996$ but the 2-hand handle is 259$ vs 199$ at http://copter-rc.com/en/
  21. I'm not sure there's is a massive difference. Other than battery life and payload, the H2 has encoders. For me the H2 was just a little bit more expensive due to free shipping and expensive shipping on the DS1 (to Norway). The H2 just seems a little bit more refined with all the right features (for me), but maybe the biggest reason I ordered one was the optional 2-hand handle. The DS1 seems like a great option though. I guess we know more when Dave Dugdales' review is out, or any one else for that matter. Shipping started yesterday so we will have more answers soon... The new models are coming so fast since the Nebula 4000, so my advice would be too not buy unless you feel the price and features are right (obviously!). Also the H2 is for DSLR's so there's probably gonna be a smaller (cheaper?) version within the next 6 months... who knows!
  22. I'm sure some other reviewers will make that happen before I get my hands on it. Anyways I will let you know when I have it and make any test you want. I'm interested to see how it works too, so it won't be a hassle at all. Good for me to get feedback on the footage as well. I use a GH4 and have native m43 lenses from 12mm to 100mm. Lot's of fov and mm in your post... If I understand correctly you want to see footage shot in 30-35mm fov (full frame), meaning 15mm - 17mm in m43? I have the 12-35mm zoom and the Pana Leica 15mm, 25mm 42,5mm and will test them all.
  23. I learn a lot on this forum so it would be nice to return the favour if I can! Check out this video with A6300 + 35mm. Also check out his channel and Pilotfly's channel for more footage. I guess for walking the wider the better, but for everything else it looks promising! What Cinegain said. That's also a quite extreme situation and I don't think it would be that noticable if the fence wasn't there. I'm not sure, but I think you would need a large rig on rails (don't know what it's called) or a steadycam and west to get that shot perfect. For size and prize I can't think of anything to match all the features of the H2. Can you?
  24. Is it just me or does this look amazing?!
