  1. Alright, ignoring how much of a rant and rave this appears, just use this tutorial as it'll have a better answer than I would https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htqrTTSZp-M
  2. And personally, I would like to read what your thoughts are on the camera.
  3. Personally, I think the Mavo will be a better low light camera than the RED Gemini and at the same time be much more cheaper and efficient.
  4. Start off with Auto exposure, then metering modes, and then the sunny 16 rule. Metering modes help since they help us guesstimate properly what we would want out of the camera and the same with a histogram. Histograms help as well. To use a histogramm ETTR as they say, which is expose to the right. Another thing I'd like to say is expose to the point where you clip highlights and then back down a stop until it's not clipping like in the histogram. Waveform monitor helps as well since waveform monitors give a reading like Histograms, and to use a waveform monitor you expose an area in the graph around 70-90 percent to get proper exposure. On a DSLR you can rely on spot metering mode or perhaps center evaluated metering mode. You can check whether or not you have the proper exposure by relying on a properly calibrated monitor and constantly checking the auto settings on the camera. Auto settings are a great learning tool. Also I may be the only one saying this, but being able to see the photograph or video is more important than noise or grain itself. So better a noisy well exposed video than a not noisy underexposed video. When you start having problems then you add more light or move to a spot or area in the room or place you are in which has more light or angle it in a way to create a silhouette. Well how did they do it back in the 1950's or 1930's with black and white TV and films? Sunny 16 rule and this: Sunny 16 rule: Lighting works like this, a large circle dot on a blank white piece of paper. There has to be a way that light forms to distinguish the subject from the background like a silhouette as well. Here is a movie scene that definately illustrates what I'm talking about: But this also illustrates what I'm talking about as well:
  5. I understand this may not be the answer you are looking for, as a videographer and photographer I think you have to learn how to utlize shallow depth of field and deep depth of field. True, it's very complex to have to use deep and shallow depth of field all the time and constantly be changing the setting on the camera, but after learning how to use them and getting comfortable with them, you learn how to focus on just the subject with the camera in any setting. Camera setting are second nature like driving a car.
  6. I don't use ML RAW. I haven't noticed your problem until now. It could be because the contrast is at -4 or -3 or something like that. You could also try doing half stops or third stops in Magiclantern like for example, 320 ISO instead of 400 or ISO 200 if this helps.
  7. My photography professor told me that there are only three lenses that you'll need: 85mm F/1.4, a 24-70 F/2.8, and a 70-200 F/2.8.
  8. Two things, the negative and the positive, first I'll go through the negative and then the positive, The Negative I'd like to apologize for my behavior on this website. I have a spare EOSHD account and found my name on google and still attached to this website. I looked at the email message and found out it was about caps lock on the lenses section of this website years ago. I should have not used caps lock and also I should not have shouted at everyone on this website. I'd like to return because I have made some discoveries, and I enjoy being around very bright and intelligent along with extremely practical and very informative folks like yourself. May I please be allowed back on this website and blog and comment and speak to other people? And it has been an honor for me to speak to you all on this website. I apologize and wish to undo anything that can lead to me being banned again. I will try my best to not act defensive and not to take things personally. I apologize to the moderator Jon Pais for being rude. I would also like to if I graduate from Film School, have employment from a master's degree and college with my computer science degree as well as my bachelor's in theater with photography as a minor. The Positive I have taken a photography class at college and passed it with a D, unfortunately I didn't know how to use my DSLR creatively, but I passed. I know now how to use lighting better. I am almost done with having an associate's degree in college. I am taking proper medication for my hyperactiveness and mood swings and I've been through therapy as well. I also have been discussing a lot about filmmaking on the other site, Reddit under the alias, Zack194a on the filmmakers part of Reddit. I think I'm getting a good idea on how to use lighting for video, and I took some recent photographs I have taken with my T2i after learning from Photography class. I learned new things like metering and sunny 15 rule as well as light distance (distance from light affects the image). My college major at this moment is computer science, which as I searched up I hope will get me jobs at many places. I am taking 4 courses in community college at this moment and two of them are A's and the other two are B's. Thank you for reading this. My previous account is Zach Goodwin Here are some of the photos I have taken They were taken on a Canon T2i with an FD lens: 35-105mm, F/3.5 :
  9. Sanveer... You missed out on a great chance to beta test the 7D Mark III it was in the Philip Bloom video which had a link.
  10. As soon as I bought this new camera I got a new feature film released as well as Scarlett Johansson and Megan Fox as my girlfriends. This the sheer power of the new Arri.
  11. I like the idea of the gopro like audio recorder, but this I don't know.
