Man it looks like 2010 mft camera footage. I would never use this thing for video. With all the hype I expected much more.
-
Thanks, unlimited recordtimes is nothing I care about, never used timecode so I guess I will not miss it. I dont know the difference between the 150 and the 400 mbps codec. Is the quality that much better or is really trivial (not into recording externally, but I guess that evens that out a bit, i might only care if prores raw gets supported in davinci resolve)

Does anybody own a s1h and a s5? I ordered a s5, but I can buy an used s1h for a bit more. But I stil feel the s5 is the better camera for me. Smaller, less weight, better battterylife. The IQ looks the same to me. (1stop of ibis and antu alisasing is not worth the extra weight for me). Am I wrong?

Idk at the end of the video it didnt nail the focus good enough. Could be the lens aputure, or the lens ring smoothness or maybe this thing is not quite there yet. Very cool though.

Image thickness / density - help me figure out what it is

Is this a lut, or could you just simulate this with adding saturation in the shadows in Resolve? It looks like a lot more going on, but not sure. -
Offc it does, Deakins also stated a couple of times that he would shoot a smartphone if they asked for it. But I bet he wont get any nominations for best cinematography if he uses one. Or even better, he might pull it off and win.

That launch video does look absolutely horrible. I did not know it was the same sensor as the S1H, as the DR looks quite poor in this video. I have a s5 on preorder, as I think it will suit my needs fine (mainly ibis for quick shoots). But the RED komodo man oh man does that camera rise the bar for all camera companies. I was really skeptical in the beginning, and the first video's looked very poorly. But the stuff that has been released recently is drop dead gorgeous. Only downside is I have to sell a kidney to get one.

Allthough it was not great. Looks like on the video side they are still some years behind mirrorless/dslr's and cinema camera's.

I think chivo earned a pretty penny for this one.

There is massive value in these smartphone camera's though, it fits your pocket. Its truly a pocket camera, battery life is amazing, low weight, sharing your photo's is fast and easy and you have it always on you. For taking pictures of the kids during the day nothing is easier, or when doing a hike or climbing a mountain, you do not want to carry any more weight then you should. People are cutting their toothbrush in 2 to save weight, think about how many toothbrushes you are carrying along when you are hiking with a dslr/mirrorless, battery and a lens. Allthough I do not see them replacing any pro shoots, imagine walking into a set, everybody is looking at you. And you flop out an iphone instead of an actual camera. Besides quality there is always the perceived value of customers when you set up an alexa/RED any big camera.

Yeah I have seen some comparisons between the 5d III ML RAW 16 bit and 10bit back in the day. And the difference was indeed not that big. But is it possible that the quality might be better as the source is 16bit, not sure if the R5 is capable of 16bit? -

canon 5D III ML RAW is 16bit, canon R5 is 12 bit RAW. I am surprised nobody did a comparison between these 2 yet. The colours of the 5D III might still have the edge over the R5. (Allthough resolution, dynamic range and framerates are better now) -
Has anybody have a link to a7s iii 16bit raw footage, what external recorders support this right now? I kinda dismissed the a7s iii, but now i have seen how much better the komodo (16bit) looks over the pocket 6k (12 bit). Im kinda curious about the a7s iii's potential.
-
They should, the A7III is a dinosaur. With all these camera options the A7III is lacking behind. And for write off's its kinda important to release the camera before the end of the year.

Panasonic S5 Entry Level Full Frame seems to be real...

No Belgium. Yeah thats my fear, that they only have 100 lenses, and then stock is depleted. In that case I am done with panasonic. -

Yes over here we need to fill out a form with serialnumber, invoice & purchase date. I thought it was the same everywhere 🙂 -

Surely they can confirm that it is approved and then send the lens 30 days later and ask for new proof or something. I only bought the camera now because they offer the free lens because its a good deal. If I dont get the lens I do want to return it, cause then I can wait for the a7iv which prolly will outperform the s5. -

In europe is the sigma-21 cheaper then the fotodiox adapter, would you still go for the fotodiox diopter? -

I ordered the S5, but looks like I will not be getting it in september. But this prolly means I will not be getting a free lens then or am I still entitled. -
I remember everybody was complaining about cfast prices but these sd prices are far worse.

Canon Cinema EOS C70 - Ah that explains it then!
zerocool22 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Well I have no intention in buying L lenses, I will just use an EF - L adapter. But yeah I wished the R5 or the R6 was the chosen camera, but the main problems with the R5 is high cost, overheating so trust issues but also the files arent edit friendly. (A7S III price is also too high, at least in Europe)
