My Canon EOS R5 recording 8K video 50 minutes straight
zerocool22 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I think at this point they cannot do this anymore. Maybe just maybe this will end up resulting in a very good thing for us. If they would have just called it a time limit. Fine nobody would have bothered. But now they lied and made it a so seemed overheating problem. They just cannot change it into a time limit anymore, its too late for that. They will have to either remove the overheating problem and release the full potential, or do nothing at all and ignore us all. I am no lawyer, but this might bite Canon in the ass, if anybody sued them. -
My Canon EOS R5 recording 8K video 50 minutes straight

Probably same problem/same fix is needed. The prices in Europe are really up there though. Happy I dont need a camera right now. -
Hello, Is there anybody here that uses their gaming headset for audio monitoring (zoom h6 for example). Looking to buy a new one, but was thinking about buying one that I could use on my pc for gaming/editing but also onset for audio monitoring? Any recommendations? Thanks!

True but there is no hybrid IQ wise as good as the bm pockets. But ibis, photography, AF do have their selling points. I will get a hybrid and just keep the pockets and ump for other style projects.

Removing internal battery resets EOS R5 overheat timer
zerocool22 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Ha this article started out so good, I thought the it was fixed completely by removing the battery. But I forgot it also saves the settings you set in the camera. Which is kinda a drag if you have to set up picture profile, framerate, AF settings, ..... But now we know magic lantern is one option to fix this camera, allthough they dont seem that active anymore so it might take years and then even Canon could have released an R10 without overheating problems. -

Is it the same sensor as the s1? -

I wonder how the AF and ibis is going to be with EF lenses. -

I looked up the price of S1, it was briefly 1690€, now it changed back to 2400€ perhaps a S1 pricedump is coming as well. (that or it was a listed refurbished, grey market item or something) -

Yeah why would I want to buy the S1 then? I was actually gonna buy one, holding off now. -
Would be better as a addon. So we can use it over all our bm cams.

Yeah the problem with this is you need to use a different software. I dont like cutting, exporting, importing, stabilizing, exporting, importing for 100 clips. If they would create a resolve plugin it might be a different story.

EOSHD testing finds Canon EOS R5 overheating to be fake
zerocool22 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Are there any Canon events coming up that have an Q&A? I would love to see an official response from those guys. -

Isnt the S1 the entry level ff camera? -
Pretty good comparison. Hopefully Canon will come with a reply soon and implement clog2, and hopefully a resolution for the overheating problem. Kinda surprised by the autofocus of the A7S iii, as it seems to be on par here with the A7S iii, as other sources claim its miles ahead.

EOSHD testing finds Canon EOS R5 overheating to be fake
zerocool22 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Yeah which is pretty good for interviews which has the benefit of recording prores instead of h265 as well. But for quick B-roll shots, or while travelling an external recorder is not going to cut it. So we def need a lot better internal recording durations. -

What about removing the battery out completely? -

Awesome work Andrew! This will prolly also render the tilta solution worthless. -

canonrumours just posted that canon will release a firmware update: - Addition of Cinema RAW light option to 8K recording - Addition of CLog 3 - Increased record time limits (but don’t expect a huge boost) - Various bug fixes -

I think the question is not why, but will Canon respond and how will they respond. Over a long period of time, perhaps Magic lantern can look into this. -

Sure thats a possible route, but why would you market it as a video camera that works great next to a c300 iii, if you can only use it for 1 take. Sorry no retakes on this shoot. -

Its gonna sell tons regardless for photography alone. Not buying this camera wont solve the R5's problems. But at this point I wont buy one, because of the overheating and also the price is too high atm. -

That might be a start, lets share the link and cross our fingers. I would love to see a "yes we are aware of the problem, and we are working on a solution" tweet/post by canon.
