Could you try without a cfexpress card in the slot and only a sd card to see if that makes any diffetence at all? -

No im not, but whats the point of 39 pages of "this is unacceptable, canon cripple hammer hits again, only canon fanboys will buy this camera, wow look that guy uses a r5 on a wedding what an amateur, no pro would do that....." over and over again what is this? Middleschool? -
Thats too bad, cause sony AF is already way worse then canon. Yeah I knew it was pretty good but wondering how it stacks up against the a7s iii. (Not sure which is the best ibis now r5 or s1, a7siii seems not that great)
-
So based on youtube reviews the A7S III its IBIS is worse then the R5, what about the panasonic s1? I am planning on using EF lenses btw. Is the ibis system of the A7S III still the same as the A7III/A7S II? (which wasnt that great vs gh5/S1H)

Dude everybody and their momma knows the r5 overheats at this point, and nobody likes that. But lets just only post news, questions, videos, workaround or fixes for the r5 in this topic. There is no point in repeated hate or canon bashing, its just spam. -

Are all overheating tests done with the CFexpress? Or did someone test also with just the SD card slot, which is possible can also make a difference. Perhaps a CFexpress adapter could also make a difference. (so you dont need to bother with external recorder) -

So what would be the smallest best rig setup for the canon r5 + ninja 5(or alternative) + dummy battery? How to power this thing and where to place it all. I dont like mounting and demounting everything everytime I take the camera out. So a rig that allows it to put it in a bag without demounting anything? Allthough while typing I realised for gymbal shots you would need to demount this thing, which is a letdown. -

Yeah call me crazy, but I am going to snatch one when either prices drop or I can find one used, as the price in Europe is crazy. + ef adapter. So hoping a lot of presellers will sell their camera at major discounts. I wish there was external prores recording to something the size of a usb thumb drive. So without a monitor. Arent there any smaller prores recorders then the ninja 5? Battery life of these external recorders + the extra weight defeat the purpose of a small hybrid camera. -
Well Red is a terrible company, but hey they got their image going for them. We are all used to seeing it in movies, so I might buy one, prolly not this year. As I dont have any video work lined up anymore. But its a tradeoff IQ vs usability. And I guess its far more easy to earn money with a camera that has more features like AF and IBIS. But those are not the projects I want to do mostly. So might be better to buy a hybrid, make a lot more money and with that money buy a RED as well.

+ even if hollywood graders are able to turn it into something beautifull, it will take them a lot more time then grading something from arri. Time is money as well.
-
Yes that might be true, but the people shooting with these cameras are not hollywood level colorists, so an good colour science straight out of a cam is important for most users. A lot of shooters just drag and drop luts on their footage, hence the shitty footage of the a7s iii online atm.

This looks actually pretty good,

Well even at 1080p the R5 is possibly the best mirrorless camera out there if it does not overheat and you dont need 4K. There are a lot more important factors (DR, color, ...) to camera then resolution (for me its the least important, well it needs to be good 1080p though). But time will tell, too soon to jump on the R5 wagon as it might derail. -

I think nobody on here was shouting I need 8K or 12K. I think we had several discussions in the past that even 4K is overkill(def for delivery). Even the holy grail of digital camera's the arri alexa only shoots full hd/2K and a lof of the best looking movies and commercials were shot on that and still are getting shot on that. -
Yeah did kinda like this footage, nothing mind blowing but looks like stup up from mirrorless and dslr's type camera's. And I did not like the first footage that was released of the komodo, the dynamic range looked kinda low at the first video's, but just also saw that comparision video with the pocket 6K and it has similar DR to the pocket 6K, highlight rolloff is nicer though so it might have a stop over the pocket 6K. So this might have my interest again also. Waiting on some more comparison video's and actual commercials shot with it.

Well 1080p is all I need anyways, if it looks great. So if the 1080p does not overheat the R5 is back on the table for me. I can allways use the bigger resolutions for special occasions, but honestly for these corporate interview + broll is plenty... -
Nah John Brawley said bm told him full frame is too expensive atm. There are a lot of ff sensors that dont pass QC, so 70% of those sensors are getting tossed away. So they are not profitable atm. So I would not expect one anytime soon.

Will Canon recall the EOS R5? Small first shipments
zerocool22 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Great news, now canon cant ignore the videoshooters anymore. I guess they will have to try to fix it or release a new camera(faster then normal). -

I would if it didnt have this horrendous crop and low DR. + now I get superb AF and ibis. -

What about 1080p though, does it overheat also, hows that quality? The overheating tests are allways at 8k or 4k and slowmotion modes, but I really never need 4k. -
How is the AF with canon EF lenses on the S1H? As for video AF is overrated, but for photography it is kinda important.

Btw I read in a previous post about the canon RF cooling adapter. Found some article about it ==> https://www.indiatoday.in/technology/news/story/canon-designs-additional-adapter-to-fix-canon-eos-r5-overheating-issue-1705356-2020-07-28
