Blackmagic Pocket 4K media & power thread -- the best alternatives
zerocool22 replied to Emanuel's topic in Cameras
I was thinking about another battery solution (the core swx v-lock). But now they have increased the battery life of the lpe6. I am not sure anymore. -

according to the tests on bmcuser they were pretty good though(only downside was you couldnt see the percentages and you can only load it through camera) -
I wish there were more manual lenses. Most photography gear has no manual aperture, and its such a good feature.

Does these brick/work the blackmagic batterys? (as the blackmagic batterys only could be charged with the camera otherwise, it would just keep up charging to no end) -

Yeah what about the chargers. What chargers do you guys use? As charging is a problem for me. Charging 5-6 batteries at a hotel at night, needing to go at morning. I usually need my sleep as well, so I dont want to set clocks every 2 hours to exchange batteries. Is there a official dual charger from canon or something? How do you guys manage this? -
Well if you have not used the product or compared it too other solutions, then its a bit early to say it will be the best solution for the pocket 4K. I feel the only company that can come up with a better solution then DJI is freefly. But it usually requires a certain amount of cash.

I never used the usual raw from the ump. So cannot compare. But RAW from 5D III was also smooth sailing over here. Yeah smooth over here, possible that I had to reduce the playback quality a bit. Can't remember. -

I use Resolve. (dont use proxies) -
I would say get the original ronin, its much smoother and can hold heavier loads. (I owned all 3)

Yeah I never bothered with cinemaDNG because of the file sizes. But now with BRAW I dont use prores at all anymore, it is so much better at the same datarates as prores! Its a gamechanger for sure. -
It is quite high though, is that adjustable? As when im run and gunning, id like to rest the camera on the floor or table. But this will surely tip over.

Hello, I am looking for a baseplate I can use on my pocket 4K but also on my ursa mini pro. So def pretty small one. The idea is to mount a lens support on it. Any recommendations? Cheers

atm not really. But lets wait and see.

Fstoppers moved to Puerto Rico. Have you had the desire to move?
zerocool22 replied to webrunner5's topic in Cameras
Yeah def agree on the grass is always greener on the other side. I live in belgium, but want to move (or travel around the world). But my wife and kid are not into that. So there's that. That leaves the annual vacations ^^. My main reason for moving is, that it is quite boring over here, the scenerey is all the same and I am stuck in a rut. No big cities a la NY where I can keep walking around at keep finding nice places to take pictures. I don't have a reason to get outside over here, I rather spend it at home. Berlin is one of the most overrated cities I have ever been too though. But thats prob because I live in Belgium, If I lived in Texas or something it prob would be a whole different experience. Most americans come to europe to see castles and remainings of the world war(s) or in other words the old world, while we want to see the Grand canyon, New York, LA, etc. -
Hello guys, So what options do I have to store my lenses in a backpack(which will wiggle a lot during hikes etc) and where I can place a anamorphic lens like a kowa + leica summicron as taking lens and it will stay togheter, will not budge. As I really hate aligning lenses. I rather do it once good, and leave the lens and adapter togheter. So I do not loose any time everytime I get this anamorphic setup out of my bag. I have lost connection between the taking lens and anamorphic adapter before. And then I need to realign this thing again. For me this is way more frustrating then the dual focussing. Cheers
-
Yeah I am hoping anamorphic mode will come to the pocket 4K as well. Not sure if it will.

Thanks for this! Looks I will be buying original canon batteries. As charging in camera sucks.

Do you guys ever use Lav's for film/documentary, as I would guess shotgun mics like mkh-416 are preferred on most sets.
-
You prob mean the sony UWP-D11? Over here there are still more expensive then the sennheiser g3 though. (almost 100€ more). But then again if they are much better, and hold resale value more, it would make sense offcourse.

Problems: - Only internal battery that cannot be removed/replaced which will die out over the years. Best case scenario only runs for 5 hours. - Plastic housing: more risk to interference - The signal is 2.4 Ghz, so maybe wifi signals could be a problem as well not sure. Wondering if the G3/G4's will get a pricedrop.

I just bought the ronin s ^^, looking forward to a side by side to see which works the most stable. But I like it so far, pretty great for something this cheap.

Hello, I am waiting on some affordable beamers that I can use for projections so around 15000 lumen. This looks like a market that still needs to get budget friendly. (I have asked about this 2 years ago, but looks like it still not has happened yet). So if anybody comes across any news, let me know. thx!

Well yeah, but at least for me it means "Dont stick to the native iso's and try some stuff out if needed."
-
Captain hook from BM shared this on bmcuser. "Native" ISO is what we determine is the best compromise of noise and dynamic range distribution (over/under). It doesn't necessarily mean the most dynamic range, the most even distribution, or least noise. It's more our 'recommended starting point'.
