Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)
zerocool22 replied to newfoundmass's topic in Cameras
Thanks! Just checked the light, its the same for me. I also tested it on the original S5, and it only lights when charging. Maybe there is a setting so you can use it as a tally light (not sure). I guess the AF eats battery and that's why its default to off when its not recording. -
Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)

update 2: ok it does not need to lock onto my face when I hit record. 🙂 Just tried out my canon 50mm 1.2 at 1.2 and worked pretty good. My panasonic 85mm 1.8 allthough does make a lot of noise. Looks like there is no firmware update for the 85mm 1.8, just updated the firmware of the mc-21. (sorry for fast posts, just trying some stuff out and typing at the same time). Does anybody already have some AF settings recommendations? -
Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)

Update1: looks like I need to actually hit the record button. ( I hope I do not need to lock onto my face when start recording. As in some conditions I will need to record and climb a fence or whatever so my face will only be on screen after a while). -
Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)

Ok stupid question, I just got my panasonic s5 ii and have not read any documentation yet. But I just set the camera on a tripod flipped the screen. Put the lens to AF, camera to AFC, and focus area to human. Ok great, so now I run to the front of the camera, and there are boxes appearing around my face. But the focus does not change whatsoever. Do I need to change something else? Or do I need to actually record, or press the half shutter mode? Thanks -
Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)

Yeah was a S5 user (with lots of EF glass with the sigma adapter), but was thinking about getting an A7S III just because of the AF performance (vlogging). But now the S5 II just fixes all my problems, I can keep my EF lenses and don't need to buy any sony lenses. So in my opinion Panasonic just converted a lot of Canon users to panasonic. -
Thanks, If i part with my sennheiser g4 that is a option indeed. (don't have a need for 2 wireless lav systems). I do wonder how people are doing it recording it camera on the best way possible. Syncing in post does slow it down a tiny bit. (mainly the loading/offloading of the SD cards, importing the tracks, auto syncing them, set it to stero, bypass the original sound)

Hi guys, I am getting a panasonic S5 II, mostly for vlogging. Would make my life so much easier vs the original s5. I currently own a sennheiser G4 wireless lav set, zoom H6 and a sennheiser mkh416 (and small rode videomic shotgun). But for vlogging and walking around, what would be the best setup? In the past I always recorded into the zoom H6 and synced it up in post. Just because I found the quality a bit better then recording straight into the panasonic S5 mini jack port. (maybe the zoom has better pre-amps? But now I am thinking of removing the zoom h6 out of the equation, just because it eats battery, and it is another device to handle, the easier/faster I guess) - sennheiser g4 into the panasonic S5 II directly through mini jack? - get the DMW-XLR1 and rig up the s5 ii for mkh 416 use Thanks!

Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)

I just tape gaffer tape on it, that way the camera doesnt look like a million bucks when travelling + I can pull it off whenever I decide to sell the camera again. -
I wish they would care to make this work better the bm pocket 6K. That is my main irritation about the dji ronin s. You need to offset it so bad to make it work and takes so much time. While when you put a small camera on there like a panasonic S5 its like 1 min work.

I do hope its one without external motors, not looking forward powering external focus motors as well. -
Apparantly not, due to the new design.

Smallrig just announced the RC450D, which has rougly the same output as the aputure 600D, but for 400$ less. So I guess the ball is in aputure's park now, to release an amaran 600D.
-
If interested I am selling my kowa bell & howell (based in Belgium)
-
oh that's great, did not know that feature. I was going for either a canon r6 II or the sony A7IV. So I will prolly end up with the sony A7IV allthough I have a bunch of EF lenses, which is prolly better supported with the EF-RF adapter.

Hello guys, Never been into autofocus for video, but lately I see def a use for it. Which are your favorite Full frame autofocus lenses? On canon or sony (panasonic is still behind). As I am thinking about buying a canon or sony camera just for autofocus. I will keep using panasonic S5 or blackmagic camera's for manual focus stuff. - With the least lens breathing. - Slowest aputure I would use is 2.8, 35mm 1.4/1.2 is prolly all I need. But a runandgun 24-70mm might be handy as well. Thanks!

Sounds they fixed most of the bugs of the R5 and the R6, I hope they fixed the IBIS as well. The ibis on the panasonic camera's was way ahead. If its the same now, I might get one of these.

So when do you think we will see cheaper 600W/1200W led lights? I mean like a amaran version of the aputure 600w/1200W. Some of you might say the 600W version is already cheap, but for my wallet it's still a lot. Allthough its much cheaper then lights were before, I guess at some point amaran or godox or whatever will bring a cheaper version around. Do you think it's still years away?

Hmm the video image does not seem to be an upgrade. I wished they would focus on colors a bit more, as they seem quite boring. Offcourse they are just test video's, but still. Can we expect an A7S IV anytime soon? camera news has been quite dead the last 2 years. Still hoping on a full frame blackmagic camera, in a smaller body (The width of the pockets is a bummer for gymbal work).

Ok found it Set alpha mode to Premultiplied and change Dominance to "Upper field" and make sure data levels are on "full data".

Hello guys, I am trying to use a video overlay in my video's. When I import and drag it over in Premiere it is instantly fine. But whenever I do the same thing in Davinci Resolve. The default clip Alpha Mode setting is "Straight", So I see these weird black edges. ==> https://postimg.cc/vDPZwMhG But whenever I change the Alpha Mode setting to "Premultiplied". The background color of the video overlay changes (even when it hasnt been scaled down). ==> https://postimg.cc/Wqtj1F8T So this is doing my head in, does anybody know a fix? Thanks!

Yeah I got one recently as well. Prettt good. 2 lightning ports does kinda suck. Did not know until I tried to connect external disks and mouse 😄
-
Its gonna be good and bad news when they do. I would love such a tool, as I have it on me 24/7. Problem is that everyone else also does. Which will saturate the markets even more, it will get harder to make a living. Sure you could move up a level, but guess what, every creator will try to do so.

Been so for years, super annoying. Not sure why those accounts dont get removed.
-
A bit early I guess, but would love to see a side by side with the panasonic s5. Def shooting underexposed and bringing it back up in post. (Also DR wise) I love my s5, but would love to get my hands on that canon DPAF for vlogging purposes, would save me so much time.

What camera is the best in bringing up the shadows? I am using a panasonic S5 right now. But for vlogging purposes I def am looking into something with better AF. so A7S III, A7IV, R6, R5, C70 etc come to mind, allthough have not shot anything with these camera's. But I rather underexpose stuff and bring it up in post then the other way around. The s5 does that pretty good, but the continious AF is horrible. Any suggestions?
