  1. I used the FS700 on one shoot, I found it to be a horrible experience vs all other options used these days. Would not recommend this camera at all. The LCD is useless, even worse then the canon c series. The menu is soo bad (its a sony after all). The image is not up to the ask either if you ask me(internal).
  2. Haha yeah. I started out wanting to be a director. So my first project looked so bad, that qi said to myself ok I need to learn cinematography first. And so I am learning, not quite there yet. But I feel more capable as a director because now at least I could say, I dont like this because this or shoot it more like this against a dop. I might want to learn acting, writing and audio as well soon.
  3. Dont you miss 1080p 60fps on the 5d iii ml?
  4. Haha yeah I understand your dillema, each year I set out a plan for myself I am going to shoot this and end up postboning it because I keep telling myself I need this new lens for that shot and that new toy for this and that. And honestly I should just shoot. The list is never going to stop at any point.
  5. Yeah as expected. This will not replace even the ronin 2 or the original ronin let alone the movi. Im buying the ronin s next to the original ronin which I still use to fly heavy setups. And the ronin s for some more event type shooting with the pocket.
  6. Well I dont like to do events. But im buying a pocket 4k for events. Because it will match my ump, but the ump on a ronin is really hard work. So im buying a ronin s for the pocket for event shooting. I never used ibis or autofocus, so I dont care about them as im not spoiled by this lazyness haha. Well play with one before you buy one though. As I owned the c100 and the c300, but never really loved working with them(lcd and bulkyness). Now I hear you saying the ump is way bulkier, thats true. But I can use the lcd screen on the ump. Where on the c series you need an external monitor. + the ump packs a lot more punch where I can forgive the bulkyness.
  7. Yeah maybe I am a bit too exited, and it could be a dud like the slr magic anamorphics.
  8. Yeah I shot a shortfilm on the c100 recorded to a blackmagic video assist. And that worked fine, ok the cost is next to nothing and you def can get cinematic video out of it. Aswel as on the c300. But there are for sure better cameras out there at a similar pricepoint. But you can get good results on a lot of cameras as you know whag youre doing. The color science on the c series is its best feature.
  9. Would not be that bad. I would still seriously think about getting one.
  10. Yeah sharpness isnt the issue with the c series.
  11. I have seen similar shots in camera with just a handheld move, just spin the camera on your arm. Not as great as the Lakai video offcourse, which is indeed a phantom camera with a bolt probably.
  12. Nobody did.. was an original c100 reference. Shooting 12stops 1080p 8bit in 2018 is not really what I would call an awesome camera though(try 6 years ago).
  13. When can we expect any news? I am so exited! Im guessing this will be the end of the steep prices of the anamorphic adapters as well if these perform as well. As the complete cost of an anamorphic adapter adds up fast (hardcore dna, redstan clamps, kowa bell and howell, taking lens) + is clunky and hard to use (aligning it, afraid it will drop, not easy to transport,...) I can't wait to get my hands of one of these Samyang anamorphic lenses I might do even some weddings shoots(which I hate) just to get the money fast to buy one of these.
  14. Ha I sold my c100 2 years ago. As I found there were much better options out there. Oh man did I hate that LCD screen and the lack of 60fps. The internal ND is sweet though and the image isnt that bad. Prob still better then the gh5. I owned the 5d iii and the c 100 back then and I shot 90% 5d iii raw, the 5d iii image just blows everything away. I recently bought a 5d iii back again, and boy do I like that image. I do miss 60fps and a faster workflow. Thats why I upgraded to the ursa mini pro. But 1080p vs 1080p 25fps in low dr setting I would prob still prefer the 5d iii raw. If I could get my hands on a anamorphic lens, then it would be a different story, then the UMP would shine it away.

    Lenses

I think there would be more demand for their anamorphic lenses then their spherical cinema lenses. Where most of us dont upgrade because the image is the same as the still lenses. As for anamorphic it makes a completely different image. So I for sure would upgrade to that. Hope to get more news from Samyang anamorphic lenses soon, otherwise hope the orion atlas lenses will hit rental stores in europe soon, as the rental price of these is still quite ok.
  16. Well I have nothing against the youtube clip link, but at this point if I see if its only a video. I will not look at it. People who can/like watch videos can still watch the video. I don't think you would be missing much traffic, unless the content is bad, you could sniff that out looking at the summarizing for 5 seconds then you would obviously not click on the video. Further more, just posting video links on a website like fstoppers is kinda lame. I could just visit a facebook group for that. My 2 cents are: you gotta evolve or ya might be closing the website sooner as you think. What I would also love is an option on youtube for the content creators to give a written summarization on the description page. With screenshots if needed. That way they could still earn from the ads, but still give information on a more effective way. And man am I sick of people talking into the camera for 5 minutes on youtube. Everybody seems to be looking for fame as a influencer. I get it, if you can pay your bills this way instead of working in a macdonalds, it's a no brainer. But they are only creating content so they get revenue, not because they want to share actual information or the joy of sharing information. They end up creating bad content because they need to upload weekly. I rather see one decent video once a year, then waste my time every week. Money really does run the world.
  17. Yeah maybe the internet 10 years ago with all the data limits wasnt so bad after all. It felt bad then, but looking back now. I was at least not sidetracked with social media or youtube, but there was not as much content/distraction either.
  18. The move would be too big (this would work if I could tilt the head 90°). I would like to stay on somewhat the same position.
  19. haha yeah always interested in good website if you got any. Agreed nofilmschool is 99% bs these days, they keep on fixating on beginner stuff. I always end up forums for more detailed or more expertised solutions. But I do like browsing sites like fstoppers, no film school and such because now and then you do pick something up.
  20. Hello, You all have probably seen the gif where a guy spins his camera 360 degrees and follows a kickflip so when playing the video out the camera follows the movement of the deck. Which is a cool in camera trick but would it not be easier and smoother to just do this in post these days shoot +4K resolution. And just spin the image 360 in post? Or would that not result in the same effect? Cheers
  21. Yeah only problem with that is what if something breaks, the cost of the repairs will probably exceed the price of a ursa mini pro.
  22. Well I also invested deeply into EF lenses. (shooting with UMP EF), so I will get a metabones speedbooster instead. As EF lenses are still the best still lenses mount choice. Not because I like the EF mount, but because you can mount EF lenses to about any camera and not vica versa. I shoot manual anyway so I dont care for the autofocus problems.
  23. Yeah me too, and I may not have been clear about this, but I mean every article out there tips, tricks, tutorials not only product reviews.
  24. Well in most of the cases they are linking to a youtube video of somebody else. So the one who is posting it on fstoppers/nofilmschool doesnt get payed for the link to the video either as they are the article poster not the content creator. So in that regard I dont think it would result in affiliate links. The youth is already lost to countless hours browsing youtube each night so they will still have a fanbase on youtube. If this trend continues I think nofilmschool, fstoppers, ... will have to close the website down as its just links to youtube. I can go to youtube straight away, I dont need another website to bring me to youtube. And maybe even pushes authors to create original content.
  25. Hello, Sorry this is a bit off topic, but I have to say this out loud. The last few years the following has become a trend: Review websites are posting articles with youtube links without summarizing the content of the video. And this is annoying the hell out of me. Is it that much to ask to write an article summarizing the content of a video. All the big websites are doing this, nofilmsschool, fstoppers, ... I cannot watch video's all the time because of various reasons: 1: I cannot use audio (work, school, library, public transport, ...) 2: Video's take forever, I do not have that much free time (they will have an intro, outro, jokes, ...), I rather spend my time on watching an actual film or spend my time with my family then watching several youtube video's, where the content could be summarized in a 5 min read. 3: Reading is more efficient for me at least, as you can reread faster with less distractions 4: Clickbait titles with shitty content. 5: Its making influencers the biggest contentmakers, why should I visit other websites if everything links to youtube videos. So please if you are writing articles on photography/cinematography summarize the video's. I will be very thankfull! Cheers
