What lenses did you use most? Or what were the favorite lenses you used? Not surprised about going the vintage route, allthough I would have gone for more pricyer vintage lenses like the contax or summicrons. What was the decision criteria there? Budget or specific looks? And surely impressed how good you made the FS7 look

Only spec difference out there so far is native Iso and other sensor. The different sensor could be a huge quality difference though.

So that makes it basicly an Mavo LF right? or what am I missing here?
-
Does the kine-enhancer also work on the Mavo? Does anybody here own a Terra or Mavo yet? And will the Mavo work with DJI-Ronin S? I was thinking about buying a second smaller camera. But this mavo seems really small already. So I could just use one body instead.

Aah this already dates from december, and there has been zero news since then. Not sure if that is good news. Update: http://www.kofic.or.kr/kofic/business/noti/findNewsDetail.do?seqNo=44218 So we might get an update by the end of this week.

Well the SLR magic anamorphics are the worst anamorphics, so for my part they can double the price if they also double the performance.
-
Holy moly, this could be big news. Depending on the price. Hoping they are shipping them fast. Yeah 2.8 would be awesome. I am exited as the atlas orion glass is still a bit of a reach pricewise, and also is already in backorder. Please be awesome, have an amazing big stock and have a decent price.

Who would pay twice the price if the new BM Pocket 4K had Canon DPAF?
zerocool22 replied to wolf33d's topic in Cameras
Yeah I was going to buy one as soon as they hit market. But maybe I better wait a couple of weeks and buy a used one from someone who doesnt like manual focus and buys a A7III,c100 instead ^^ -

Well the cinema users are using manual lenses, DPAF will not work. DPAF is great for wedding and events and such, but for scripted work nope. Heck they don't need to, a wireless focus operator will give you more control and better results. So no I would not even pay 100€ for it as I am also shooting mostly manual lenses. -
Well you kinda answered this yourself, I have absolutely no need for AF.

I never used proxys and I am running intel i5-4570k, 32GB RAM, gtx1080. about your average joe pc setup. I could do some speed test comparison vs prores. But probably someone already has and will tell you before I can test this.
-
I am not even interested in the A7S III at this point anymore.
-
Yeah compared to Full frame it will be close to 70mm.
-
Yeah I should note, working with prores or RAW definitly saves time in post. As if I would edit GH5 h265 files, it would not be a joy working in post . And in a professional enviroment every minute must be payed, so definitly a money saver in that perspective. And I dont really have that much free time anymore as I am juggling a baby around. So this workflow saves time for me and allows me to have more quality time with my family as well. You cannot put a pricetag on that, Time is the most valuable thing.

Well pretty close, but not all the way. I notice the image quality over any dslr. (DR, color science, robust codec). I do kinda struggle with the grip that comes with it, as everything is heavier making my shoots more slow. If I see something I can improve on and even if nobody else can see the difference but I can, that is enough for me. And I feel the UMP is keeping its value more then any other camera I ever bought. Allthough I am eying that kinefinity Mavo LF and the new orion atlas anamorphic glass(just one lens though) lol All that and it is still cheaper then a decent Car.
-
Thanks for the info! Well I live in Belgium, so not that much rental houses over here
-
What PL adapter did you use? Did the rental house list the anamorphic lenses per piece or by set. As all rental houses over here only list them as a set. But I would be happy with just one if the price goes down 3times. Would love to hook one of these babies to my UMP.

Well kinda sucks that he did not test the camera. That would the first thing I would try out. I could care less about the hologram function.

It might help to let them practice the scenes in private. After they practiced check what they have come up with. Take the actors seperate and try to get them to feel the emotion you want. Let them use their memories to give the scene emotion. If they need to be angry, you could annoy the fuck out of them. But there is always the possibility they walk off set. So there's that as well.

I went to Cuba without insurance, I never had insurance anywhere in the world so far. I did not have problems either. But I am very protective of my gear. So it depends on the user, and what activities you plan on doing. I don't do nightlife, so if you are planning on doing nightlife and getting drunk at the same time, it might be a good idea to get it insured ^^

Yeah for best performance and all framerates and resolutions you will need Cfast, no surprise there. Not sure why somebody is expecting something else really. So I am wondering if prices of cfast will go up or go down in the next few months. Probably up because of high demand.
-
I will be sticking with cfast 2.0. I probably dont need 4K RAW mostly. But I rather have all options available when I need to.

Hello, I am looking for a movie scene. Where the camera is face front on 1 guy(driving/riding/running), and it appears to be only 1 guy. But when the camera angle changes, there are 3 or 5 riding in a straight line. Or the people in the back move sideways so they all appear. I have this gimmick several times in films. But offcourse now I cannot remember any of those. Does anybody have an idea. Can be films, animations, cartoons. Anything really. Thanks!

Some tips. - Use some kind of stabilisation, glidecam, ronin. - Or use a tripod (I really dont like the handheld look) - I get thrown off by the handheld shots, but it looks like this clip did not pay much attention to composition. Your other clip with the available light is much better. This clip is very crowded and the location does not seem that nice. And you are using a high fstop, on this kinda situations you want to guide the eye of the viewer so a smaller fstop would help here. If you have amazing locations and good compositions you can use more high Fstops. So good locations will always help out a ton. Even a Alexa will look crappy under the wrong conditions.

I dont mean investment in $ profit. I mean investment in my skillset. I learn something with every camera I buy. I am more about investing in knowledge. I could do wedding, event, corporate video's but then I would loose my passion so fast. I am not in this for the money as most of you are, as I already have a job. Its a hobby where I choose to spend my time and money on. I rather develop my skill up to a certain level, so I could do certain projects where I could work creative but still deliver high quality.
