  1. Well pretty close, but not all the way. I notice the image quality over any dslr. (DR, color science, robust codec). I do kinda struggle with the grip that comes with it, as everything is heavier making my shoots more slow. If I see something I can improve on and even if nobody else can see the difference but I can, that is enough for me. And I feel the UMP is keeping its value more then any other camera I ever bought. Allthough I am eying that kinefinity Mavo LF and the new orion atlas anamorphic glass(just one lens though) lol All that and it is still cheaper then a decent Car.
  2. Thanks for the info! Well I live in Belgium, so not that much rental houses over here
  3. What PL adapter did you use? Did the rental house list the anamorphic lenses per piece or by set. As all rental houses over here only list them as a set. But I would be happy with just one if the price goes down 3times. Would love to hook one of these babies to my UMP.
  4. Well kinda sucks that he did not test the camera. That would the first thing I would try out. I could care less about the hologram function.
  5. It might help to let them practice the scenes in private. After they practiced check what they have come up with. Take the actors seperate and try to get them to feel the emotion you want. Let them use their memories to give the scene emotion. If they need to be angry, you could annoy the fuck out of them. But there is always the possibility they walk off set. So there's that as well.
  6. I went to Cuba without insurance, I never had insurance anywhere in the world so far. I did not have problems either. But I am very protective of my gear. So it depends on the user, and what activities you plan on doing. I don't do nightlife, so if you are planning on doing nightlife and getting drunk at the same time, it might be a good idea to get it insured ^^
  7. Yeah for best performance and all framerates and resolutions you will need Cfast, no surprise there. Not sure why somebody is expecting something else really. So I am wondering if prices of cfast will go up or go down in the next few months. Probably up because of high demand.
  8. I will be sticking with cfast 2.0. I probably dont need 4K RAW mostly. But I rather have all options available when I need to.
  9. Hello, I am looking for a movie scene. Where the camera is face front on 1 guy(driving/riding/running), and it appears to be only 1 guy. But when the camera angle changes, there are 3 or 5 riding in a straight line. Or the people in the back move sideways so they all appear. I have this gimmick several times in films. But offcourse now I cannot remember any of those. Does anybody have an idea. Can be films, animations, cartoons. Anything really. Thanks!
  10. Some tips. - Use some kind of stabilisation, glidecam, ronin. - Or use a tripod (I really dont like the handheld look) - I get thrown off by the handheld shots, but it looks like this clip did not pay much attention to composition. Your other clip with the available light is much better. This clip is very crowded and the location does not seem that nice. And you are using a high fstop, on this kinda situations you want to guide the eye of the viewer so a smaller fstop would help here. If you have amazing locations and good compositions you can use more high Fstops. So good locations will always help out a ton. Even a Alexa will look crappy under the wrong conditions.
  11. I dont mean investment in $ profit. I mean investment in my skillset. I learn something with every camera I buy. I am more about investing in knowledge. I could do wedding, event, corporate video's but then I would loose my passion so fast. I am not in this for the money as most of you are, as I already have a job. Its a hobby where I choose to spend my time and money on. I rather develop my skill up to a certain level, so I could do certain projects where I could work creative but still deliver high quality.
  12. Yeah I agree when I compare it side by side, the differences are more noticable. It looked pretty close to me when I was watching the video. Curious how dramatic the colour science 4 update will be
  13. This is still color science 3
  14. Yeah apparantly color science 4 is the closest color science to the alexa. I wish they would release it for the UMP already. Its already very close right now though as you can see in the following comparison video.
  15. I am pretty sure I am not, there are hobbyists out there with RED camera's. So I am no special snowflake. Is it a substantial amount of money. Yes, but I didnt go to film school, I am 32 years old, I worked for 10 years hating my job. So why I drop this kind of money? I see it as a investment in myself. I did not go to film school, If I did I would have lost more then 10K on education, If I lost my job this could be a backup plan. People invest much more money in sports cars, horses, motorcycles, addictions,... So investing 10K in something I love is not that bad of a deal. haha yeah maybe the name dop is dropped too easy, everybody who shot a shortfilm calls themselves a dop, and nowadays anybody who operates a camera. And yeah most of them are in their 20's, and I should note they do not do narrative work. They grind small business for corporate video. As I know zero DOP's that do professional narrative work fulltime. If I knew one, I would be on set all the time perfecting this craft and getting tips from directors, gaffers and everybody else on the crew.
  16. Yeah I am digging theses lenses(ecept the blue flare, which reminds me of slr magic). If I sell all my lenses and do some more jobs, I can afford one of them. a 50mm anamorphic should be pretty versatile.
  17. Well I am a hobbyist and I got a ursa mini pro. So that argument does not apply to me. But I guess for most others it is prob true. I do kinda cringe at times when I meet DOP's that say they dont need anything more expensive then their A6300 because nobody can see the difference. And I look at their work, and I sure can see the difference, and the reason they make a living out of it is because out of networking and not skill. So even when they would upgrade to better camera's the work would render still the same.
  18. It does. The ursa mini pro (6k). But I sure will be buying a pocket v2 for my gimbal work from now on(depending what project it is). Prob will also become my travel camera if the stills pan out great(hopefully enough shutterspeed options)
  19. Thanks!! and god damnit!!! That damned warp stabilizer is the only thing I still need my adobe products for... Djeez I have been requesting this from BM for the last 3 years, I know I am not the only one who dislikes the stabilizer. Does it make a difference if you stabilize through the fusion tab?
  20. I am talking about the ursa mini pro
  21. Can you ask them about the Ursa mini pro? - Is color science 4 coming? - are custom buttons possible and coming? And about Davinci 15 -Also wondering about the stabilizer in resolve 15, if there has been an dramatic improvement or it is still the same shitty one? Thanks!
  22. Thanks! Well I think 5" is too small. I also like to dual task the monitor as a directors monitor. And I have tried 5" monitors in the past. But its simply too small to notice certain details.
  23. Nothing on the UMP, that is kinda frustrating. Grant mentioned color science 4 coming to the micro and production camera's, but he did not mention the UMP. which makes me wonder, will it come or not??
  24. what about blackmagic pocket v2 :D
  25. Too bad its a recorder, I want a 7" cheap sdi monitor that only weights around 300 grams or so. I dont see the need for recording externally anymore (exept for maybe dual backup). As most camera's record RAW internally or with an addon. Its just needless extra weight on the camera.
