  1. what are wasabi batteries, ive never heard of – oh ok jk lol i have them too mine are fine, ive got three, came used with a camera, life seems to be ~about~ the same as oem theyre hit or miss~! 5. lol what a great thread title ? GUYS!!! did you know that there are these things called state film commissions where they give out location permits?? ? i forgot that they existed lolol but little did i know that places where i thought that filming would ~never~ be allowed, may be allowed, with a permit, under the right circumstances~! oh, i forgot to mention, im currently obsessed with caves. i wanna shoot something in a cave i got into the idea of building a fake cave, which is borderline easy in that i already know how to make stuff out of foam/plaster/chicken wire/whatever, but to make the amount of rocks and stuff i would need for my shots would be a TON of work. id be making boulders for a year ? so then i started looking at actual caves, which i figured would just be all blocked off bc... idk why?? like, ppl could hurt themselves? the state i live in has a lot of laws... anyway, come to find out that THIS exists https://ca.reel-scout.com/loc_detail.aspx?parent=loc_results.aspx&id=1059&cid=50&search=cave&rgn=All Regions&rgnid=&cnty=All Counties&cntyid=&city=All Cities / Towns&cityid=&subcat=&style=&lname=&lid=&dist=&zip=&mat=all not to mention THIS (??!!!!) https://ca.reel-scout.com/loc_detail.aspx?parent=loc_results.aspx&id=10120444&cid=50&search=cave&rgn=All Regions&rgnid=&cnty=All Counties&cntyid=&city=All Cities / Towns&cityid=&subcat=&style=&lname=&lid=&dist=&zip=&mat=all i was like... how in the heck could a film crew possibly be allowed in that place ??? so, heres my question: can i actually do this? whats stopping me? besides money my understanding is that they assess fees based on your project, havent found any firm info on that yet ...im guessing that some of you guys have dealt with film commissions, or state parks, or something of that nature...??? lookit this pic tho
  6. @kye totally. ive done that with my favorite shows particularly the x-files for me. also the sopranos – a show like that, thats so well made, i can watch it over and over and learn stuff all the time i credit that practice with a lot of my understanding of filmmaking. it really is this invisible art that no one really knows exists, but when you start to watch films and see the blocking, the sound design, etc etc, thats a total game changer today, i can get something out of watching OLD films that i never wouldve watched in the past, that i absolutely love now~! like, once you can see through the "movie magic", black and white films become a lot more contemporary, a lot less alien. for me at least
  7. amazin! ive tried mirroring apps that havent worked well, but then again i want the latency to be next to zero super interested to see how well sidecar works~! tbh, even if gen 1 sucks, apple will figure it out in the future. im so glad to see "iPad OS", that means theyre finally all in on the ipad being more than a giant iphone that doesnt make phone calls
  8. to be fair, the new monitor DOES come with a free cleaning cloth
  9. back in my day, my parents bought the house i grew up in for $150k. its worth $750k now apple completely went back to their old design! ? talk about admitting defeat lol
  10. well, here it is. looks remarkably familiar... ? just for the record, i used to work at an appl store, and customers legit used the previous model as a trash can. im not being figurative or exaggerating. they would just crumple up the wrapper for their ice cream cone and toss it in there anyway, what do you guys think of the new one, specs/etc? i think im going PC workstation for vfx in the future, but idk!
  11. lol calm down guys its too funny that trump gifs trigger ppl still i thought that was gonna be over by now

  13. @mercer when i saw the specs for the new rebel i shook my head... ...amazing! and it has a flippy screen. full flippy i was gonna start a thread but i was like, *shrug* everyones used to this by now...
  14. tbh, thats ~vintage~ michael bay tons of shots, tons of angles, etc. it does show a lot of style you have to find things that you admire in order to emulate them. find something that you like, and post it, maybe that would help
  15. watch this guy explain the graph
  16. i was literally gonna say "moving lights" ?
  17. yeah, im sure they can get even more out of the sensor with better glass (why not?). this image is SHARP at 100%, therefore, for my needs, i could easily resample it to double the resolution, and it would be totally usable. its a TON of detail ?
