tysm!!! yeah, im from SD but i moved a couple years ago, but being that its the place im most familiar with besides LA, i decided to shoot it all there~! @Jonesy Jones is from the hood too! [warning: the golden west hotel is like arkham asylum ? and the horton plaza parking structure security guards are REALLY humorless ?] lol thank you. i hear ya. @Snowfun @thebrothersthre3 heres a thing: one scene is out of order like honey bunny and pumpkin at the beginning of pulp fiction, where youre getting a glimpse of the last scene, theres one part that isnt chronological: the part when the girl finds the red book in the hallway happens AFTER the following scene where the young man tears a page out of that same red book. he presumably drops it, and she finds it – its his journal. so she reads it, or something, and learns how to meet him "out of body" on the roof. hes been taking notes on his experiences previously, the young man goes to the old man with a pen, and tears a piece of paper out of his journal, because they have communicated about this astral projection phenomenon. the young man wants the old man to write something arbitrary – it could be anything – to see if he can subsequently "read" it at night, (which is a thing that i dont believe in called 'remote viewing' lol. the CIA did have some psychic spies tho... ?) so the film goes like this: (1) the young mans day (2) the womans day (3) the old mans day (4) the meeting on the roof BUT 2 and 3 would have to be switched to make it chronological maybe that helps a bit ? naww, dont say that about yourself~! ive made plenty of stuff that turned out to be a complete disaster, thats why im getting better~!!! ? my biggest reflection on making this film is that it was a TRANSFORMATIVE experience for me because you just dont GET the whole filmmaking process until you DO it. you might have a strong intellectual understanding of it, but much like being in a NASA swimming pool it is not the same as being an actual astronaut in outer space lol. we learn by doing! at least i do. seeing the process as a whole was eye opening in an indescribable way for me, hard to explain, but you guys know what i mean~! ?

actually, youre all wrong. a digital camera is a lightproof box that houses a tremendous number of little creatures that paint the pictures – theyre kind of a cross between the so-called dmt "machine elves" and the south park underpants gnomes anyway, thats the amount of bits that your camera has. the more bits (gnomes) it has, the more expensive it is, and then the gnomes can draw faster, better pictures. its p simple really

looool web was a lil cranky but i turned on fox news and then he calmed down. wouldnt take my money! stand up guy

man... thank you so much for saying that my whole idea was ~dark and low contrast, really saturated~ and my 7GB prores render looks GREAT...! but it gets m u r d e r e d on youtube. this is not the best quality upload due to this file in particular, but i did tests and......... its rough on mobile its exponentially worse. 1080p on the youtube app is not equal to 1080p desktop, and its PARTICULARLY destructive to all the ~pretty dark shots~ that i actually succeeded in making, *not that you can tell* from this upload~! tbh that was sooo frustrating to me, thats a big part of why i was like "i haveta take a lil break from this" ? anyway, thats amazin that you totally saw what i was goin for thru it all... makes my day! tysm edit: see, lookit this low res png screen grab on tumblr... STILL SOOOoooooo much better smh. i mean the ridiculous banding isnt there u kno

ok so in the spirit of eoshd togetherness I have decided to share this video to see what u guys think. maybe it will inspire zach ☺️ let me explain: i made this short at the end of last year, but I never completed the edit/fx/etc 100%. Got busy with other stuff, and I was working up my gumption to come back to it with a fresh eye. then my iMac broke, and I have a new ‘puter on the way, but I’m anticipating the nightmare of opening resolve and Siri saying ERROR: NO MEDIA FOUND, because my files, ALTHOUGH BACKED UP, are super disorganized, there might be a few things missing, but at the very least it’ll be a big pain in the ass to relink everything to get going on this again aannnyyyway I always feel bad for posting literally zero videos but numerous dog pics and I was like Screw it, its not perfect, but here ya go. this is not the best file, its the one I had in icloud, there could be a better render, etc etc, and its getting murdered by youtube compression, but my first reaction watching it after not messing with it for a few months was…. …Hey~! Its not too bad! ☺️ not bad for a first film i made all by myself! imagine if I had a crew, a budget… ? so, if youd like to see, pls check it out, and if you have any helpful feedback that involves changing/adding things, that’s great, but I do NOT have access to the actors/locations any more and there is almost no chance of me shooting additional footage, so as long as suggestions don’t involve me spending any more money on this project, I’m all in ? at best, I think this is a cool example of what one person can do with a 5d3 in 2019 with no budget, crew, or resources whatsoever... as indie as it gets lolol

fascinating yes, the ipad's "file system", or the lack thereof, amazes me in many ways, but i have to think its going to be "improved" because osx has become SO much more like mac os in recent years. the irony is that in doing so it has become SUPER complex compared to its origin, with all kinds of gestures and options, and i LIKE those things, but as an ex appl store employee i can tell ya that all that stuff makes ios way too hard for grandma... so i think that osx is headed for something of an overhaul... if it were kind of rebuilt from the ground up that would be amazing, but that refresh might come in another 5-10 years ? or never ? soooo many ppl use one, thats why im trying to embrace it~! making an actual pro level *thing* on my ipad recently was... kind of astonishing. i was like ? ...but its so thin and portable~! ??

when youre spending that canon money, could you give me one of those jobs where you dont have to go like on the sopranos? thanks buddy

well guys its 2019, so according to tim cook you shouldve all abandoned your useless desktops by now amazingly, i am using my first gen ipad pro for actual work for the first time ever – meaning, in my mind, that im spending TONS of time on it. 8hrs a day, which God knows ive never done before im using Procreate, an AWESOME app for drawing and art stuff with Apple Pencil™©® the adobe cc apps continue to absolutely suck. the long promised ipad photoshop is coming "soon"... well my book will be done by then. so. what i wanna know is, WHO here is using an ipad or other mobile device/tablet for actual WORK of any kind? video, photo, design/etc...? anybody? and if so recommend me some apps ?

Zach, since you started this thread, I created a brand new short, wrote it, storyboarded it, did the costume designs for 12 characters, found a new DP near me (yay!), found a killer location for that shoot, AND, i WROTE A 24-PAGE CHILDRENS BOOK WHICH I AM NOW ILLUSTRATING and i STILL managed to study for my biology test~! ?

BORING i want more exciting announcements!!! ?

true, kye. but also i was talking to a guy whos doing a short in premiere right now, and he has no idea what resolve is FOR in the first place — grading, power windows, etc. l mean he knows in the abstract, but not really lol
-
this update is insane. if you havent tried resolve before, youre in for a treat
-
thats a great point!! the possibilities are kind of amazing ?

additionally, id love to see some screenshots from anyone who is actually using it already, i dropped CC and i only have photoshop ?

this is where YOUR artistry and YOUR brain are supposed to come in to play Zach @Snowfun suggested “My Town” — super, thats a broad concept that you can clearly execute because..... you live somewhere, right?? so think about that phrase: “My Town”. ask yourself, how many different ways could you interpret that? What is your town? Is it small or large? Do you like it? How does it make you feel? Do you like the people? Do you think theyre cool? Do you wish they were different? Why? Would you rather live somewhere else? Why? What would you tell someone from Los Angeles who came to visit about your town, to describe it to them? In a word? What about an alien from outer space? Whats your town like to him? Maybe your town is internal, its a place inside you Maybe its your inner view of the outside world. or maybe its something you’re trapped in, and you dont like seeing out maybe you live in a ghost town where everyone is dead maybe your town is lost in time Maybe your town is a tree because youre a squirrel ? just let your mind wander its art mannnn

this is a killer feature and its only gonna get better, i was gonna start a thread. if you use it the right way in photoshop its unbelievebly effective and easy, so im really stoked to see where this goes i love the boom removal usage that @IronFilm mentioned; stuff like that can be HUGE for an indy shoot too...! the future of vfx is so bright its ridiculous lol. kids in the future will never kno the agony of the stuff we’ve had to learn ?
