Zach, it’s Sunday, almost Monday, are you writing something? If you saw my art practice, ANYONE who sees it, would agree, love it or hate it, that it required a TON of work on my part. Clearly decades of development. Sitting on your ass playing video games or whatever the fuck does not make you an artist... no exceptions!!! Sorry not sorry!!!

@Snowbro its possible that youre seeing other EOS cameras that ppl have drawn little white Rs on to look "cool" -- dont be deceived

i would but my imac just broke ? so give me a min on this and the color grading challenge ?
-
ha, interesting, i just watched the trailer and it was pretty badass overall...! looks like a solid film yeah, his voice in Batman has so much character because the way he’s talking is just so WEIRD. There’s a TON of inflection, he’s being really dramatic vocally, almost absurdly so. But with the distortion, and the visually menacing persona, it works...!

ZACH ^^^^^^^^^ (emphasis mine, sorry @mercer)

Zach, this is good. Here’s my advice: WRITE SOMETHING dont worry about screenplay formatting if u don’t know how to do that — doesn’t matter right now. write something short. Something less than 5 min long. Start there!

the idea of vr games that could be less quest based and more about interacting with the real world is super interesting to me... and also super scary ?
-
Zach, what is it exactly that you’re trying to do right this moment — write, direct...? What else? what exactly is at the core of your creative talent that you want to share with people?

great points @kye i think that saying one can use any and all software options would get the most ppl involved! and all i care about is the finished product after all! if you get killer results out of FCPX, resolve, or whatever, who cares ???
-
cool idea!!! ill play ?
-
wow, this is an amazing thread, rlly got me thinking. I was gonna post something smart but now my mind is elsewhere... trip on this: there isn’t a single image posted in a thread about cinematic color ?

@Snowbro pet people are weird ?

id bet that it is lol haha yeah... the caucasian mtn dogs can get huge, but the big male in the above video is 160-170lbs according to the owner... my doggee Jasper is 176lbs, so it's like Jasper with fur lol. but they look like german shepherds crossed with bears ? the caucasian shepherd above is gonna grow tho, even after 2 years he'll fill out a lot and prolly be around 200lbs ? also, its true that one day someones gonna make a hello kitty branded camera and im gonna buy it do u think this thing shoots prores

welcome @Rinad Amir~!! ? @kye is right, we should have t-shirts... its a pretty badass club ? i cant actually *help* you with resolve like these other folks (lol), but i did make a short film with it and i love it – no way im going back to the alternatives! im on the adobe $9.99/mo photoshop plan!!! i feel like im beating the system!!! ?

@thebrothersthre3 i currently live in the san jacinto mountains about 2.5 hrs east of LA so... i can go down the mtn for whatever, but my resources are mainly here right now, so im trying to think out of the box about locations, and how to pull off the look i want, cuz if i can make that shoot happen where i live, it would save me a TON of money+time+effort NOT going to LA or similar that being said, the priority is making it look good, so ill do whatever it takes!!! ?
-
i *might* lose it if that happened thats smart as heck YOU ARE SO RIGHT. THATS HUGE *explosions* ::boom:: harbor, awesome!!! for sure, like... all the best places for this would never let me shoot there ? but im still lookin, and one thing ive learned about independent producing is that it sure doesnt hurt to ask, and you never kno, you might be surprised~! its happened before~! this is some advanced thinking, which could change everything... to be honest, the success of the aesthetic of this piece is about it feeling *real*... almost like this: Bane is real, and he's broadcasting a message from his lair, one of his henchmen is filming it, and he's walking around talking while stuff happens in the background: his goons are moving around busily, clearly *working* on some kind of task so, im not doing an establishing shot at all, it just starts with camera on the masked man. its not "cinematic" in that way, that we'd have the storytelling of an establishing shot, u kno what i mean? all that has to be packed into the location, but that comes together pretty fast with some water and set dressing... u guys r awesome thank u soooooooooooooo much

so, not to change the subject back to dogs, but i just found out that these exist i shrieked when i saw this puppy. HES A TINY BABY JUST A VERY BIG ONE

also: @kye those are seriously all good ideas, thank you!! particular words that havent come into my searching lexicon like 'railway', 'abandoned', and 'tunnel' got me thinking... anyway, the idea you pose of "a long wall" is right on point – that was kinda my original idea. remember that its fairly dark in my shot, and say that the set is lit mainly by practical work lights – we dont need to see a ton of background, i could shoot in a place like this hang some spooky chains, hose everything down, add some kind of moving water element in the shot... annnnd that could work. but i dont have access to a place this cool looking where i live at all, and if im going to LA to shoot, like i said the skys the limit and i could shoot anywhere ? ...still thinkin this thru lol aaand like you said, kye, sound will add a ton~! echoey footsteps/ambience, dripping sounds, water running... for sure ?
