hi @Trevor Butterworth! i have a 5d3 and im really happy with ml raw i think the choice is about the image. if you prefer the higher resolution of the 5d4, great. i prefer the more analogue-y filmic image of the 5d3. horses for courses tho, totally depends on the project but $1000 is money, i get that. so in general i guess id say that if you view 5d3 raw as an option, and youre prepared to deal with the data, etc., and youd prefer those 1080p raw files to the compressed 4k of the 5d4... great, go for the 5d3 and spend that $1000 on other stuff thats more important for me personally, im just not into a dslr with touch screen dpaf on a screen that doesnt move. thats the #1 thing id change about my 5d3 if i could – flippy screen!!!

ok i watched that trailer again... SOME of those shots are clearly with a different camera. the 7d shots are obviously different

OHHH NOOOOOO OMG LMAooooo im deleting this account

given the clarity and look i would guess that fb clip isnt from a dslr – maybe one of the mirrorless cams, but id say CX00 if i had to guess but COULD you use a dslr for a piece like this? OF COURSE! if ive learned anything about filmmaking, its that NO ONE CARES about stuff like that but us theres never been anything shot on a dslr that was unsuccessful BECAUSE it was shot on an dslr so im just sayin... dont let the gear be a barrier between you and making great content. only nerds like us notice that stuff lol while some people are sitting on the couch wishing for a camera that costs as much as a new car, others are making films with what they have, and getting their work seen by the whole world online i want UTA to represent me as a commercial filmmaker and fine artist. do you think those folks have ever passed around something really great, and then it gets to the big boss, and hes like "Its good but the highlights clip like shit" looool me neither thats a funny idea tho

these are good points guys indeed. however i want this effect to be FAST– the sleeping person, who seems to wake, is then PULLED up into space very quickly – like within 2 seconds he goes from sleeping peacefully to floating in space, so the few frames of the "ceiling" (fake) shouldnt be too big of a deal? after watching some various clips like this, impossible zooms into space, im finding the upper layers of our atmosphere completely unnecessary, as no one knows wtf that looks like anyway, and due to the sense of ACCELERATION i want to create, it follows to basically skip all that therefore, i dont need to mess with google earth (too phony anyway) or look up that kind of stock footage, itll just be: -indoor camera looking down at bed, moves backwards, up to the ceiling -drone takes off from roof - a dozen frames of horseshit "atmosphere" - then ::poof:: space but idk its still forming in my mind...

yeah, thanks @Don Kotlos, that totally makes sense! anybody else have any thoughts?

alright, i really need to reach out to you geniuses for this one, heres the effect i want to do theres this concept of an out of body experience, astral projection, whatever you want to call it, maybe thats the best thing to call what i want to do, but its a specific sequence that ill describe. i want to create an effect where: youre looking straight down at someone body lying in bed. then, a translucent version of the body rises, at the same rate as the camera, as the camera moves UP, through the roof, out to SPACE. (yes, space) i figure that between a camera in a bedroom with a cut "through the roof", a drone that then takes off from the roof, google earth footage (??), and some space/earth stock footage, i could make this work somehow it doesnt need to appear completely continuous at all, its all in the feel of it. so like if the drone part was shot on a cloudy day, the clouds could be a place to cut or something. idk how would you guys go about doing this? ALSO: if youve seen something practically just like this before, PLEASE let me know and if possible link me up. im not tryin to go to all this effort if someones already done a better job lol

thatd be dope!!! id get one EDIT: wait, would the touch screen dpaf work alongside magic lantern for video? speaking of cameras with flippy screens, did you guys see this patent?

UPDATE: okay ive got it!! (that was a long bath) im basically gonna make a pilot, like 14 min long, divided into 3 parts, so theyre 4:56ish (under 5 min episodes) thereby acknowledging all the folks on this board and irl who have said "45 min?!? you might as well make a feature!!!" as well as peeps who have wisely stated "Keep the episodes short, thats what I watch" netflix, here i come~! p.s. been working on show themes. mind u this is spooky and supernatural. thinking about using this as a background track

it can be whatever i dont believe in doing any kind of screenwriting unless i know how long somethings supposed to be lol. i understand the spirit of what youre saying, but thats the feature i wrote that i love that i cant afford to make rn, im not cutting shit out of that. ppl will like it, itll find an audience, im confident. but i have to actually *make* something first that shows competency, thats what this project is right exactly yes i do, good point. ill be thinking this over ykno what writers do when the going gets tough? #bubble bath

help 911 i need u guys again i wrote a first 4 1/2 page episode and ive gotten some good feedback. a friend keeps saying that a total of, say 9 episodes is way too long, too hard, and itd prolly be just as effective and way easier boiled down to say 15 min. (lights out is 2:42 and it seemed to work out p well) SOUNDS LIKE IT MAKES SENSE TO ME??? idek anymore lol hmmm...
