hey i wanna see! do i have to make a onedrive account? -
tru tru, thats why you need a business card with your account!! then they can see some of your work and girls LOVE instagram anyway as im sure you kno. are you #tagging your posts? dont be shy with that, ive seen people get mad overnight with the right tags, girls who put 30 #tags on their selfies mercer you have got to live in CA, amirite? outside of socal, ny and a few other places in the US, who the heck knows what scale is? ? (not trying to dox you feel free not to answer that lol) dude! thank you! ive never hear of this in my life. apparently my friends have lol ill check it out EDIT/UPDATE: holy cow people rlly like this show ?
-
do you ever go up to strangers in public to ask them about being in a film? i totally do when it comes to my art im not shy lol. the point i was trying to make is that ive had at least as much success from talking to random people like that as ive had from casting calls on various websites... kinda weird really. and in terms of success i mean the whole enchilada – reliability, attitude, performance, look, etc. switching gears, ive decided to seize inspiration for my new miniseries from Twin Peaks by David Lynch™, even though ive never seen TPbDL® nevertheless it seems: • spooky • kinda surreal • odd • ????? im well on my way!

Industrial commercials or interviews w/ work lights
kaylee replied to AaronChicago's topic in Cameras
damn i swear i just saw an interview with construction worklights as practical background decoration.... man let me see if i can find it... examples are definitely out there! -
wow hockey youre so smart... thats some food for thought. thank you, ill mull it over tbh this is exactly what the sum total of my knowledge after trying to learn about this stuff for the last ten years has led me to believe, thank you for CONFIRMING all that. seriously. what do i know? fookin nuthin (conor mcgregor) i have all kinds of vision. i want to talk with these people so i can convince them to love me. its absolutely key to my master plan. i have a fine art practice which im currently starting to reach out to galleries about – but those doors are not open. call up blum & poe and ask if you can email them your work. theyll say no. you have to shmooze your way into these circles, and unfortunately i fucking hate stuff like that, it feels SOOOooo disingenuous, like im not here to be your friend im here to sell myself, and im pretending im not, and it seriously makes me want to puke. im terrible at stuff like that. on the other hand, in a meeting that people actually want to have with me its quite the opposite, im delightful. but on a certain level i am shy, im an introvert, although you might not think so based on some of my work yes!! thats my thing tho im trynna draw that grand idea out over the next 20 years. im saving all my best ideas for (a) later (b) when my agents at CAA wanna kno what my plans are for the future i remember reading about kevin smiths meetings in hollywood after making clerks, and if im not mistaken he was borderline offered superman, and he couldnt say yes, as much of a comic nerd as he is, he couldnt do it~! he didnt have the skills. and ive thought a lot about taking advantage of such opportunities great analogy ? right! so what is that commodity...? ? im with you, tim

no shit when i was in school, i remember asking one time Whats going on with the video village? Seems like a bunch of people standing around doing nothing now i DREAM of people standing around. smart, talented, informed people... just standing around. standing guard against the chaos of reality @Liam congratulations on finishing up your edit! whats the latest piece about?

@mercer youve inspired me ive seen the stuff youre making and i was like Time to get off my ass and do something my thoughts exactly...

wow tons of good stuff there thanks @squig!!! i had a similar experience with a friend in school – he NAILED the horror look/atmosphere in a way that was..... i guess professional is the word id use? looked like something expensive even tho it was $0 budget, everyone was blown away although ive never been into the horror genre per se (does the shining count? lol), i recognize its popularity, im definitely going with the idea of paranormal/supernatural. people love ghost stories! close enough, right? ? basically, @squig, ive done the same thing, i wrote a great feature that i need $250k to produce, which isnt much for a feature, but it might as well be millions to me right now. THIS TIME, im only writing for what i have at my disposal, i swear to god, ive learned my lesson lol *looks up at sky fearfully* im gonna find local small town actors who wanna be in this (for FREE), and im going to write FOR THEM, not the other way around. im gonna put a flyer up ASAP!
-
bah gawd im gonna do it~! and im gonna write shorts the Rebel Without A Crew way (this time) – limiting the zero budget production to stuff i already have my parents just bought a house in an adorable mountain town, and my visit got me thinking... i should film something there so im going to, feel free to wish me luck or share stories of how this could get me high level representation or make suggestions or... whatever i feel like the best thing to hit up CAA with would be like an episodic series, with short episodes, and maybe theres enough of a flow so you could watch like, six ten minute pieces back to back if u wanted to. throw it up on youtube, see if anyone salutes seems like thats the hip thing, what do you think guys? *i understand that what im attempting creatively is very difficult if not impossible, but lets just ignore that for the moment lol
-
wow... that was really great @HockeyFan12 i want CAA like representation more than anything in the world, its essential to accomplishing my fine art and filmmaking goals. youre telling me that if i made a short that was hot, that could get my foot in the door? im aware of things like this happening in the abstract, im not questioning your point in any way, im begging for encouragement smh
-
i feel like the creative writing part of my brain is very much separate from the nuts and bolts production/budget side.... like they need to have a meeting to reconcile writing something you can produce frugally is extra tough for this reason imo i feel like: Kaylee, since you dont have the money to produce your feature yet, if youre such a genius why dont you write a little no budget short to get attention? easier said than done

"peaking"? wtf (meanwhile my 2012 5d3 is doing 3.5k raw) http://www.canonrumors.com/canon-eos-5ds-r-mark-ii-talk-cr2/ canon doesnt get that their slrs are the entryway to their cinema line, as you guys have said. like theres no relationship. like cinematographers dont own stills cameras
-
tell that to David Miscavige's wife ? im p close to gold base rn they own the road out front ? not that the pope doesnt have a secret prison... im sure he does, but at least it doesnt cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to be a catholic scary sounds like this guy has a p good life, way better than being a slave with a billion year contract /shifting gears, a Leica Q to me is like a rolls royce: theres a reason that you pay a huge premium for a hand made bmw, its another level of craftsmanship, design, and yes, luxury ive never shot w one but id love to. when im rich ill DEFINITELY buy one lol
-
i said See ya later to Adobe~! well not rlly i still have photoshop and lightroom lol resolve 14 is way faster on my mac. havent used it much but so far so good

omg im gonna have bad dreams about a red head burning my face off amazing. stuff like this honestly makes me feel better about myself bc youre sooo smart. btw just wondering – when were you shooting the tour de france? i read tyler hamiltons book about lance lol >>> OOOO! I thought of ANOTHER refrigerator related incident: one time an actor was getting some ice out of the freezer above a fridge at the studio we were shooting at and the freezer was stuck a little bit and when she gave it a pull she managed to hit herself in the face with the freezer door causing immediate swelling and what turned into a black eye

when steven spielberg made jaws, they built a mechanical shark that sank. then he embraced the aesthetic of shooting around the shark lol

Hey guys!! I was thinking it would be fun and even therapeutic to have a thread about production disasters – war stories about our own mistakes as well as those of others (feel free to omit names to protect the innocent) that have been embarrassing, tragic, etc. It’s fun because we have such a limited camaraderie in our little filmmaking tribe and we can all relate to each other, and also, of course, this is how we learn~! I find that when these things happen, and I say, “I’ll laugh about this one day”, that’s usually the case, but it might literally take years for that day to come. Here’s an example… Once upon a time I was doing a photo shoot with a midget wearing prosthetic makeup. I designed the makeup, built it, and worked for months on it with another artist. Some talent was flown in. Makeup, photographer, lighting, etc. At the time I was living in a big loft/industrial space in downtown LA, so we did the shoot at my place. And of course, being a good producer and host, I had a plethora of snacks representing crafty. Along with all the food, juice and sodas, I got a 12 pack of beer for my friends to enjoy if they wanted to hang around for a minute AFTER THE SHOOT. Naturally I put that beer in my fridge with everything else. As things were getting set up and Bob* (*name changed to protect his precious professional reputation) the midget was getting his makeup applied, I noticed that the lil guy was sitting on his stool sipping a beer. “Ah, he’s having a beer,” I thought. “Long makeup process. Enjoy.” Sometime later, after hours of makeup being applied, I noticed Bob going to the fridge for another beer. I said, “Hey Bob, I was saving those for later, but I can get some more, do you think I should?” Bob slurred, “Yeah, this is almost gone,” and held up a box formerly containing 12 beers, a box that was nearly empty. It was at this point my friends, that reality started to melt just a little bit. The calamity became apparent. I immediately started thinking, “I’ll just do it again, I’ll do this whole shoot again…” Things started getting a little visually trippy despite my sobriety, think Fear and Loathing. Bob was completely, absolutely plastered. He was literally falling off his stool drunk. My friend the makeup artist persisted as Bob began fussing like a child. “MY WIFE…WHERE’S MY WIFE?” he howled. “Your wife is in Chicago, Bob. That’s where you live.” Then the pizza arrived. Bob was hungry. He sat down on my couch and proceeded to eat half a pizza AS WELL AS HALF THE PROSTHETIC MAKEUP FROM HIS FACE. I was in awe. Things did not get any better from there, but everyone on my crew reacted to this hot mess like a champion, they all hung in there for me, and after a ton of work in Photoshop that I should’ve never had to do........ I got images that were pretty close to what I’d originally wanted. I can laugh about this now, but this is the kind of shit that they don’t teach you in art school. Expect the unexpected. Be aware of variables you can’t control. Limit them. It’s become a mantra. HERE’S ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF ME SCREWING UP: One time earlier this year I was shooting some personal stills on my 5d3 with my sunglasses on, cuz I’m so good at photography that I can’t be bothered to take them off at 9am, and I completely fucked up the settings and a bunch of the exposures were ruined. I’ve never done that with a digital camera in my life and that happened this year, in 2017. Thank God this account is anonymous Wow, that WAS therapeutic, I feel great now~!
