  1. i couldnt agree more that keyboard sucks if youd like a durable, backlit alternative, ive been rlly happy with my $79 https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Bluetooth-Illuminated-Keyboard-Smartphones/dp/B0099SMFVQ arrow keys are too small, but besides that i love it!! had it for two years and i legit toss it around a lot key travel on the new mac stuff sucks ass. have you been in a small room with 5 people power typing on those keyboards? its horrible
  2. was that meant to be funny? thanks a lot you moron anyway~!!! im learning all about zbrush and its really awesome~! i might be a lot better at this than i thought, it seems very intuitive, like sculpting with clay, and i can use my wacom tablet! ? i made something in sketchup recently that almost killed me ? sketchup is NOT what i would call intuitive, but at the end of the day it inspired me to think that maybe i could do even MORE with 3d programs...???? ? should i use zbush?? is it kewl?? pls let me kno addendum: im assuming that models made in zbrush can be used for vfx, a video game, 3d printed, or whatever... is that right?
  3. i hear you, this is what im thinking might work best. giving a good 3d sculpt artist a mediocre 3d model and tons of great reference photos would prolly work out just fine (?) thanks for the info and links jcs, im checking them out rn~!!! i think i need a place in LA that does this, right? and id give that 3d file along with a bunch of great reference photos to a 3d sculpt artist – how does that sound? although my ultimate goal may be to make a giant sculpture – far beyond the scale of the current capabilities of 3d printing, as bunk explained – i like the idea of having a great 3d model to make editions of small ones, different sizes, out of anything, plastic, metal, chocolate (lol). in the future ill prolly be able to 3d print one that looks like a cut diamond or something ridiculous personally i think that ron mueck is a genius and i like his work very much. unlike jeff koons (ballon dog, above), ron actually makes his pieces himself his beautiful hyperrealistic sculptures tend to have an obvious surreal twist, which just for the record is not what im going for, im shooting for Friendly Doggee lol
  4. thanks @bunk, thats so helpful~! what youre saying makes complete sense... i thought this might be the case. being that my ultimate desire is to make a HUGE statue (30' or something), I would actually be using a 3D printed model for reference for the sculptors who make it i just thought that if possible a 3D scan would be ideal because its true to life, if one could be created with enough detail id like this to be full color and realistic, like something out of a practical sfx shop. that being said, ill definitely hire people to make it lol im afraid thats highly subjective; case in point is the +/- $60 million balloon dog above
  5. thanks @BTM_Pix~! yeah i checked out shapify, also this place that has a location in LA (im in SoCal) https://www.doob3d.com/ im wondering if the technology even exists to get a very high resolution 3D scan of an animate subject like that – like my dog might hold still for 1 second but hes sure as hell not going to hold still for 12 seconds. if the scanning process is done via tons of cameras, that shouldnt be an issue, but theres different ways to go about this apparently im willing to spend thousands of dollars on getting him scanned if thats what it takes, but i havent found a clear answer yet on whether what i want is even possible...
  6. I want to create a 3D scan of my dog. (Yes, I'm 100% serious). Assuming I could get him to hold still indefinitely (lol), is there a 3D scanning process that will capture a man-sized dog at a super high resolution, enough to print a highly realistic statue at a 1:1 scale, or much bigger? The dogee in question looks like this btw, hes my lil angel ? It'll obviously be WAY better than this so please help. is what im seeking even possible? thank u ily ❤️
  7. id be the first to say Just LOOK at the 1080p image though – its AMAZZiinnggg but its not: its TERRIBLE. i actually cannot believe how bad it is far beyond the discussion of 4k or not in this particular body, its $2k in 2017 and the HD looks like shit pathetic
  8. man im a hot mess tonight i meant red helium. you KNOW!! these names are amazing whats next anyway, i challenge you to watch the video below on a 1080p screen in 4k or above res on youtube and tell me that youre used to seeing 1080 video with such clarity sorry about multiple ZG like posts
  9. 100% true ? with my rx10ii, i was actually doing both ???
  10. interesting! would you mind if i asked why?
  11. guys im sorry those x files screen caps are so terrible but my point remains i kno u get it
  12. yeah, me too. whos shooting with the xt2 in june 2017? whos been using one in the past year? love it/hate it? pros/cons? it looks like a really fun camera to use
  13. yes, i had a g6 and imo youd be way better off. less resolution but WAY more soul the depth of the color just annihilates the g6's comparably thin image
  14. i was watching some 8k weapon videos on my ~1080p tv~ and my mind was blown by the upper limits of what 1920x1080 can actually resolve... i feel like quite a few people confuse the resolution of a viewing screen with the actual amount of information that grid of pixels can display... anyway, horses for courses~! im making all kinds of different stuff atm that i may want to have a higher/lower resolution, depending on the project/scene/etc, ykno? I personally love the look of this for my narrative work in a general sense. i could extoll the merits ad nauseam there is not a whopping amount of resolution here. 5d3 raw is a p darn good way to get a look A LOT like this, thats why i love it~!!! and i just subjectively think that its pretty in that spirit, thats why i like this better than tons of stuff out there, despite resolution etc. it feels really good to me ? it has a naturalistic feeling that i think is more or less unique in video besides, a few hundred bucks for one of these~? SUPER COOL HELL YEAH to magic lantern for all these sicc recent developments, great article @Andrew Reid
  15. @BTM_Pix dude, youre amazing~! youre super cool to share all of this stuff, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. v cool... where can i get my hands on some raw light footage to play around with? ?
  17. @HockeyFan12 those are some great tips on whats good in the hood right now thank u!! i used to live in DTLA but i havent been around for years and im super out of touch... annnd super over the beers in san diego... im so jaded lol. so spoiled in beer paradise ?
  18. yeah, thanks mercer~! im debating right now between your lens and the 24-105 f/4 IS version 1 (although v2 isnt much more expensive...) i would TOTALLY go for a lens with a wider aperture but I want IS for video... decisions, decisions! EDIT: also, @mercer i watched this video at work and my coworker who knows nothing about cameras was walking by and he was like, "What are you doin, watchin a movie? That looks really cinematic" ~ swear to God
  19. id like to know the answer to this too~! canon doesnt make that lens with IS, but sigma has one coming soon...
  20. lmao hell yes it does. jeff koons wouldnt infuriate me if he wasnt worth so much MONEY. theres a huge imbalance. its disproportionate that should piss you off – how they have so much and you have so little. thats a component of what fuels your fighting spirit ?
  21. liam i think you already answered your own question if i may read between the lines here well lets see, do you WANT to be a poser, who people think is full of shit?? is it somehow WORTH IT for what youre doing rn??? the answers are no and no, and thats that. heres my advice: build a social media following to whatever degree, organically, and small as it may be itll be there for you in the future, when you produce great work and you actually want lots of followers – active followers lead to more active followers. but just let it happen i think its normal and very contemporary to have Follower Anxiety™ but its just media noise that makes us feel that way!!! its a general malaise... and the creative mind does not function well when we're under stress!!! also: give yourself a break~! youre putting WAY too much pressure on yourself for no good reason!!! let yourself develop, and as that happens, and you make more and more stuff and find your voice as an artist, your vision of how you want to portray yourself online and in the world will become crystal clear. it happened for me~! now i want you to stop stressing out and chill so u can have great ideas...!!! ? if this doesnt make any sense pm me lol
