interesting discussion is watching 17 hours of one show nonstop a fad? absolutely not: its the new way, people love it, its a normal part of media consumption now when i first heard of this phenomenon, i was actually surprised that people have the attention span to watch, say, an entire season of a show at one time. as a content creator who might want to make some abnormally long content in the future, and just in general, i find this encouraging. i think it will allow more options for people like me be that as it may, theres something to be said for the empty time between installments of a serialized product when im into a show, i spend that time with the characters, even though theyre not on tv. so when the sopranos comes back after a season break, im like Whats been going on in their lives the past X number of months. additionally, the sopranos wasnt meant to be watched back to back for 6 seasons – it wasnt designed that way. but thats not to say that one could take binge watchers into consideration during the early stages of conception for a product, in order to produce a show that can be watched in 44 min episodes or in 7 hour chunks at a time waiting is also good. hell waiting is the best. whats better than anticipation? that time is significant getting a show over that people HAVE to watch live is really hard these days.... live tv used to be a thing, now i think most would prefer watching at their convenience. for narrative its a tough sell. i watched the main event of UFC 202 live the other night because it wouldnt have been the same later (i was rooting for nate diaz btw #stocktonstrong #frownyface) the times are changing thats for sure

good responses here i would say it totally depends on what youre doing... what are you producing? a doc? a kubrick-like feature? even though im a fine artist, im literally working on a 14 foot drawing right now, i came kicking and screaming to the crushing realization that to make my first feature the way i want, i have to storyboard every shot. that epiphany came some time ago, and im a lot more knowledgable now, so the very idea that i even though it was optional is laughable today, its ironic. but thats for me the SIMPLEST storyboards can be amazingly useful, a quick sketch that anyone can do can show lens choice, character movement, camera movement, etc. hell, look at this guy these suck and his films have worked out ok

Canon XC10 versus Sony RX10 III. The Canon is underrated!
kaylee replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
@Andrew Reid i miss you how are you. how has your summer been -
thanks @tupp... thats what I thought~! tbh long ago i did a 30 sec spec commercial for school where i figured id adr the dialogue because there was ~so little dialogue~ and it was a nightmare and turned out terrible. mind you, this was at the very beginning of my filmmaking journey so i know a little bit more now... i would change a lot of things if i were to do it again lol. but that was when i learned that a film is audio my vision for my indie feature is to do as little adr as possible – only when unavoidable. and of course im going to hire audio people who actually know what theyre doing, unlike myself lmao
-
that too
-
@mercer thank you thats very helpful tbh im the actor with the most dialogue, and the idea of just trying to match my voice cadence without using anything visual seems way easier to me.... but idk ive never really tried to do it lol what i hate is watching something and having particular lines of dialogue stand out as adr – like in the middle of a conversation – where they dont fit in. i dont think audiences notice that but i do

@AaronChicago thanks for these dngs, i didnt realize how much i liked this camera, and as soon as i opened the first one you posted i was like Wow! looks good and so easy to work with! is moire much of a problem? the gentlemans tie in the last frame is a p challenging pattern i know

first of all, @andy lee, thank you so much for all of this great information. i love your use of COLOR! now what is this adr stuff guys fill me in smore (mmmmm..... s'mores) pretty easy... really??? thats great to hear ive always been terrified of adr cuz it just seems so hard and time consuming to me... from all these comments it must not be as tough as i think...??? that makes sense. but is this practical for a lil baby indie film like mine (feature)? i mean i love the idea of having that control to get the best performance, and isolating the voice itself from the rest of what the actors are doing... wow i really have to look into this *mind blown*

100% agree
-
i agree just for the record, i wasnt suggesting that these cameras all produce the same image what i wanna see ideally is the color we get from ml raw on ALL canon cams
-
id like to remind myself and everyone else that the original msrp of this camera was $15,000 FIFTEEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS
-
when people are new to producing, im like "Shit is going to happen that you do not plan for" ? good work on keepin it goth. glad everybodys ok!!
