  1. yeah i figured it would be named after a wrestler
  2. link to video ^ guys, this is a "multi-purpose camera" i wish there was a wrestler who called stuff noisy
  3. thats awesome, great to hear. unlike cameras and lenses, one thing that you cant buy is talent, which you seem to have plenty of based on your original post~! im sure that your practice as a musician informs your video work in all kinds of ways, intangibles that i might not even understand...! if i could give you one piece of advice going forward, it would be this: avoid the rabbithole of technology research; its neverending shoot with your new camera. its great. id buy one today! cheers p.s. it is WAY too hot for my st bernard-great dane in san diego rn

  5. Im not talking about anything that comes from post. im talking about camera output. more on that later just talkin about in camera color rn tho nothing could be further from the truth. i want a high level of color accuracy for reproducing sets, costuming, and prop elements (which were very expensive and time consuming to make). i want nature to look like nature, i dont want to have to avoid shooting something as common as a F------ BLUE SKY for any reason, i want people to look awesome, and healthy, like actual living creatures with blood running through their veins fyi im capable of being extremely critical of the alexa, everybodys favorite movie camera. im not a mark; i know what i want and im gonna keep bitching until i get it, thats my job as a consumer. after TONS of bitching from us all about slog2 on the a7s, heres slog3 on its successor –– no coincidence. anyway, i digress, just saying that youre a bit unclear on what im "looking for" these video reinforce my point: ive seen em, not impressed. at all. im not into retro luts or affected color grading, thats a fine option –– but i described above what i want from a digital video camera but then again –– some feature filmmakers are going to map all their colors to teal and orange in their edit, and for them this shit doesnt rlly matter too much. slog2 is great for black and white work ive made some beautiful stuff
  6. and an rx10m2 as a slomo/b cam right??? lol smh regarding my comment: whether this implementation of slog3 proves to improve color vs slog2 dramatically within this 8 bit output remains to be seen; ill be watching carefully. ive read a lot about slog3, but have never been convinced by my eyes at all. i want to believe. show me~! /im agnostic at best about both the cameras you mentioned as a hybrid shooter. the aesthetic of sensor size not withstanding, these cameras have NOT blown away a gh4 yet for video imo. they will soon enough if sony keeps running their own models out of business with rapid updates, buttt.... its about priorities sony can barely write a press release. i work for a tech company *cough* that "gets" photography more than they do....... and im buying a note 5 imo theres some big ideas getting lost in the details
  7. theres a lot of good things here in the a7s2. that being said my priorities for Things to Fix on the Original A7s, in order, are: • COLOR • rolling shutter * etc...
  8. nice. this hits a lot of spots on the wishlist well well well... the plot thickens
  9. yeah youll have no problem doing that on a mac. none of that avchd bs. ive dealt w that in the past and i made sure to avoid it like the plague w this camera. files pop open w quicklook in your finder or in qt, audio and video work fine in fcpx. although....... i havent been saving those xml files are they something i need?? i was hoping that maybe if i ignored them theyd go away
  10. 100% lol. that being said, smartphone cameras are frickin awesome the camera i always have with me
  11. after rereading this thread i had to laugh its a bit ironic that all the software we're talking about is made by ~the same company~ the people on this website are really smart i wish we could organize a PP 2015/Adobe feedback master thread that adobe would actually read because it would be great advice for them. its coming from smart users who often have a lot of design education and i say this as a creative cloud subscriber~! i pay $60 a month and i want my apps to overlap more
  12. right! for me making a lut in lightroom or photoshop is a quick and easy way to make lumetri in premiere a lot more useful – i do both~! im p much just making luts to do gamut correction on my f------ bizarre slog2 footage, using that as an input lut in lumetri and having fun from there~! the real time playback in premiere w lumetri is why im trying to use it in the first place.... and bc of the the lightroom/acr simplicity that i am so familiar with regarding the op: BrorSvensson, premiere seems to be quite literally and figuratively the answer to your question as these guys have said; adobe has self consciously been adding more 'simple' color features in premiere, pushing its ultimate functionality more in the direction of speedgrade but with a bit of that lightroom easiness. im looking forward to a lumetri interface in the future that is even more like lightroom, w more power to adjust color like hue vs hue controls/etc. the weirdest thing to me about lumetri atm is the curves....... anybody else kno what im talking about here...??? the controls are... awkward. its sticky in a bad way and it just seems way too hard to drag the black and white points around.... i mean how many programs use curves lol? why cant that feel more like photoshop anyway, i fully support the continued evolution of a lumetri that is more like lightroom than speedgrade, a more acr-friendly slider interface, but considering PP 2015 is the first time lumetri has appeared i think its p cool
  13. FANTASTIC thanks for the info guys!!! im gonna pick up a Note 5 this week
  14. anybody know if cinema 4k would work on a note 5? my note 3 failed this test miserably lol (free camera2 api checker) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.vipek.camera2_compatibility_test
  15. ctrt, i agree with the folks who think youd love a gh4. its a great camera
  16. kaylee

    GH4 V-Log $99

the gh4 had already earned my respect, but perhaps this confirms it and respect to all of you guys who do great work with this camera hell yeah
  17. Awesome Gabor!!! What an impressive app amazing work!!!!!!! I was able to successfully download and install Cinema 4k on my Note 3 here in the US but when I launched the app it said "device not supported" or something to that effect. tried it a couple times. do you think it would work ok on a Note 5, as it shares camera features with the S6? v cool work!!!!!
  18. these videos are makin me feel impressed and also kinda mad
  19. wish this would work on my note 3, lame i can upgrade my phone anytime, planning on a note 4 or 5, is the Camera2 API the dealbreaker here? ill search it out summer holiday video was sicc!!! are you the developer nokker??
  20. it wasnt meant to be a direct comparison, but i acknowledge that i was unclear to put a fine point on it, im just talking about their color science, which clearly bleeds over into, say, the 1dc, as andrew has written about at length. and i expect that mojo to trickle down to lower cost bodies in the future additionally, that color science is very much a part of "what raw gives you" unless i am profoundly mistaken
  21. i did the exact same thing when the g6 came out. same experience, same reaction... i told myself that i was just brainwashed by canon raw color because im so used to it.... thats nonsense. this is the color i want https://vimeo.com/groups/magiclanterncanon5diii who can beat that? if you click thru the thumbnails of the videos in that group without even watching them you can STILL tell that the color is amazing~! i expect canon to eventually release a 5d4c type of "video centric" slr, and it wont be cheap ($4-$5k?), and ill buy it. ill just pull out my credit card. ive stopped fighting it
