Well well well, life keeps rolling along and now I find myself writing a spec drama series pilot...! wild, right? whats shocking is that i kinda feel like i know what im doing?? like, if you said to me, years ago, “Just make a story bible to go with your pilot thats really visual with pictures and stuff,” i wouldve had NO idea what you were talking about so, i wouldve looked up the term ‘story bible’ (/‘show bible’, etc), and i wouldve said to myself WOW THIS IS A LOT OF WORK. (😂) a story bible, for the uninitiated, is simply a document that contains all the ‘big picture‘ ideas for your series (a stand alone feature film would be self contained, not needing elaboration), as well as character and location breakdowns, notes on tone, sfx, cinematography, etc. a cool contemporary example would be the stranger things story bible, originally called montuak—easy to search out that pdf...! check it out maybe if this is all new to you (see good article link at bottom of post) all this stuff IS a lot of work (lol/smh), but ironically ive discovered that for me as a writer the whole mythology actually comes easier than a tight pilot, the big view of the world and the characters in it, i need that to makes sense of what im writing, and i LOVE how a story bible can be visual and all, as opposed to a teleplay in a strict typewriter like format anybody here ever attempt anything like this?? any tips???? anything.... any comments are relevant lol. feel free to reply out of pure ignorance, i do that all the time lol if ~I~ have any tips (i dont), its that youre writing for buyers who need a killer logline. like, if it doesnt sound somehow DIFFERENT, like a SHOW YOU WOULD WATCH, and producible in reality, forget it. as an unproduced outsider non guild member writer, its hard to get anything ‘read’ by the powers that be to begin with. theres a reason that ppl use the phrase ‘break in’ to the business — the front door is not open 😂 they are not taking applications 😂 so, imagine that youre that executive who always has 30 sec to hear a great idea — and if its hot it doesnt matter where it came from. i try to think about projects from there, and then elaborate... *THIS* is why i need a proper tea regimen 😂 any comments appreciated guize https://screencraft.org/2017/10/26/how-to-sell-your-tv-series-the-stranger-things-way/

yes! what's the business-- bakery? tax preparation? regardless, you wanna make it personal, all about the business owner and their personal story, putting smiles on faces, etc etc

hey at the risk of bein a nerd id like to remind everyone to CLEAN THOSE SMARTPHONE LENSES cuz even a smudge that u cant see can affect the image, and im SUPER guilty of not doing that all the time my note 10 *reminds me sometimes* 😂, but this IS a thing my actual camera lenses stay super clean, i have filters over them, i notice, etc. but—man ill pull that smartphone out and shoot careful pics on occasion without even looking at the lens array, and thats hella dumb since its in my pocket all the time getting fingerprints and assorted filth on it!!! it may sound silly but its for real!! how many of out smartphone pictures could be better if we had wiped off the lens[es] before shooting...? 🤔

here's a stupid question: is there a remote app thingy for controlling DPAF? cuz that would be great, with an off camera monitor

when it comes to the R5, I'm expecting 8k to be useless somehow, but who knows...?? *ID* be thrilled by a full frame canon mirrorless with DPAF all the time, in all modes, no crop on the video in slomo, 4k, or anywhere else, NO CROPPING FOR VIDEO, with IBIS that can work with vintage lenses to some degree, and 4k up to 60fps or more, with clog/robust codec options that's my wish list! 8k sounds super cool but it's not a selling point for me on an expensive body that I want to use for years to come. that being said..... I'm a total camera nerd lol ofc I wanna see it 😂

there's a LOT of options, if you're a bit familiar with AE, I'd start there...! you can do an incomprehensible amount of stuff in AE, and it's a bit more approachable than Fusion, for example, or some of your other options what is your intended use? if you need to make full 3D characters that's another story...
