[Experiment] Go wider with "long-scope" anamorphics ?
buggz replied to Justin Bacle's topic in Cameras

Are there any single focus anamorphic handheld solution(s) for gh4/gh5? Saw this, and gotta have something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BljkQJrl5wo

ARGH! facebook, facebook, WHY?! I really wish facebook would die...

Thanks, confusing, I don't want to polute this thread, so I will read on how to figure all this out, as the different video modes and aspect ratios also affect this, argh...

I have a GH4, and the 0.67 XL Speedbooster, and the Sigma 18-35, and many other Canon mount lenses, love it. However, I thought the math was, 18x2=36 36x0.67=24.12 ?

Adobe lost me years ago. I am a long time stills photog. When they went to the Credit Card model of Photoshop CS, I was out. The arrogance of the mismanagement was it for me, it wasn't about price. At the time, and still do, I felt betrayed. I can go on and on about this bad experience, as it really hurt me personally, but I wont, they are available on the various many still photo websites. Unfortunately, my stills workflow is still Photoshop CS6, I actually love it, as I have put huge ammount of time and monies in learning it for a comfortable workflow. I purchased a Resolve dongle last year, and am slowly learning Davinci for my video work. I just wish there was an AE alternative, as I always thought that app was very interesting to me. Good luck to us all.

The old film school trick for long lens use was to use sandbags ON TOP of the lens at the camera connection point. This has worked pretty good for me in moderate windy conditions.

The new affordable Sound Device offerings look appealing to me also. Speaking of NAB news, is there a favorite site for summaries, etc?

Cool find.

Things we'd like to see in a future GH5 firmware upgrade

I too vote for - Anamorphic desqueeze PLEASE! YES, please! -
What is the widest taking lens for use with a Bell & Howell 2x Kowa? Briefly playing: - GH4 with Metabones 0.67XL - the widest seems to be 58mm with vignetting - 5DMkII - 35mm ? Anyone else?

Would these be somehow useful? - KOOD 82MM CLOSE-UP LENS SET OF 3 + CASE +1 +2 +4 DIOPTER CLOSE UP LENSES - http://www.ebay.com/itm/KOOD-82MM-CLOSE-UP-LENS-SET-OF-3-CASE-1-2-4-DIOPTER-CLOSE-UP-LENSES-/201835157112?hash=item2efe501678:g:s-4AAOSwnDZT8eMC I see they are really cheap priced, so, I'm guessing the quality is not there.

I will have to post my humble anamorphic beach test video, somehow... I love this clamp setup, my rig works great! Camera: GH4 Taking Lens: Minolta Rokkor 58mm f1.2 - mount converted to Canon EOS Speedbooster: Metabones 0.64 XL - m4/3 to Canon EOS mount Anamorphic Lens: KOWA for Bell & Howell Anamorphic Clamp: Rapido V2 Clamp

Wow! I REALLY like this combination! I want to purchase another. Just got back from a week at the beach on Tybee Island, GA. Unfortunately, it was VERY windy/stormy, though I did manage a few vids, and stills. I WAS going to pop for the Core DNA rig, but, I don't think it is necessary now. Oh, and here is a TIP - IF you disconnect the taking lens from the scope, carry along the hex key wrenches, as the filter mounts will not index the same. Though, this should be a well known "issue" using step up/down filter ring mounts, etc... I am sooo happy with this setup, thanks Jim!

Does anyone know if in camera anamorphic desqueeze is this a planned update? Or not planned? I can't remember all the news...
-
I just got the SLR Magic one. I'll be using it next week at the beach. I have the Color Passport and the Video Color Passport. Should be fun, should be good...

I now have my rig put together with the Rapido Anamorphic Lens Clamp V2 . I think I have it set correctly. I will have to post pictures.

Which adapter? Which Canon lenses? I have the 0.67 XL adapter. My GH4/Metabones Speedbooster/Canon lenses work great! Both my Canon EF 50/1.0 and 200/1.8, the AF works great. I sincerely hope that Metabones update the firmware for GH5 use if there are problems!

Anamorphic desqueeze in the camera display? Is this an option? I would like this.

Can't wait for mine to arrive. Currently, I have my Kowa for Bell & Howell connected to my EOS converted mount Minolta Rokkor 58/1.2. I have it working with a Metabones XL Speedbooster and my good ol' GH4. I am experiencing the lens attachement error occassionally, as I think the bare aluminum EOS conveterted mount is shorting out the signal. Trying Hard As Nails nailpolish, as the sharpie trick only got scratched off. May have to ultimately install the chipped board thingy....
-
I am also intrested in this, as I love my MB SB XL 0.64 and GH4 combo with my EOS Canon, and manual EOS mounted adapted lenses.

I remember this being a really good video on DIY LED panels. The material list is probably dated by now.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlMtakaa7u8

Okay, thanks. Ive tried to use this a long time ago, for transcoding I believe. Have not looked at it since. Oh, I bought this earlier this year, it looks promising. I'm STILL learning all of this BTW... http://hdcinematics.com/Convert-V3.html

I see a video conversion tools post, referencing a github link, but the are for Apple only. Are there PC scripts available?
