  1. You can still get your hands on Samsung batteries all over the place, why do you need the third party ones? They are cheaper for a reason. Stick to big brand names like Watson for example they put the proper real mAh capacity in their batteries, Chinese brands usually just put half of what they advertise.
  2. Am I the only one who have disastrous experience with Adobe's OpenCL driver, Media Encoder cashing two million times on me while trying to render a 35 minute long video in UHD with colour grading done in SpeedGrade (That program performs the worst) And the sad part is that CS6 never gave me those issues, SpeedGrade in CS6 performs wonderful too, I keep asking on the forums but no one wants to answer me, what is up with the OpenCL driver?? I lost the will to even edit videos nowadays because I am afraid I will be stuck for weeks just trying to finish an edit on this grinding slow program specially when I try to edit those massive 150 - 180mbps files from the NX1, transcoding them takes a good chunk of my time too and space which I do not have luxury of. Anyone have any good experience in these cases? I use open source formats as much as possible like FLAC, VP8 and 9, I been experimenting a bit with other formats that are closed like CineForm but all these specially VP9 takes decades before its done rendering, yet funny enough in open source and FREE. But still, rendering takes a while on my 4 core and 8 threaded Intel Core i7 Extreme 3rd gen processor. Is it worth using CC 2017 over CC 2014/2015?
  3. Just remember to do JPEG's and not RAW, if you turn down the JPEG megapixel size enough it can actually continuously shoot 15fps until you run out of space.
  4. Surprisingly, Adobe Creative Suite 6 is still very powerful with a few plugins, specially in Premiere Pro I mean what the heck is new in the other Premiere Pro versions that impacts your editing flow? Premiere Pro CS6 you just need a plugin that allows you to use LUT's and then you can just use Resolve to edit a LUT for each of your footage since Adobe decided to show us the finger when it came to SpeedGrade which is so SLOOW and so BUGGY, it infuriates me it even got released and Adobe's constant issues with OpenGL from time to time. Adobe wants everyone to move over to the Cloud model, I could not handle it so I just got it the righteous way. But every release, its always so freaking buggy and it takes months for them to patch it, its so sad that this is the sort of business model they choose to run when they could have continued to add features to CS6 package and make it even better instead they gave the finger, told us "You want new features? You must subscribe to us on the cloud service instead" I have personally yet to see a CC version of the entire package that is stable, I also used the legal versions at work on Mac's and its equally buggy and slow specially when editing 4k footage, I do miss codec supports in Premiere Pro CS6 though but nothing you cannot technically get without plugins, there are also ways to get Premiere to take just about any format that exists with Windows Codecs. At the end of the day, we are crippling ourselves by getting spoiled with new tiny little features that Adobe adds, and we do not want to move to anything else because they do not have it, but in reality there is ALWAYS a way to replicate it, and its funny they edited many masterpieces with such ancient and basic software in the past when the digital age just began. They did a lot of cool stuff with such basic stuff its really mind boggling. Also its very sad that they cripple Camera RAW for older Photoshops like CS6 and CC 2013 just to force you to use their newer versions which are not very fast, I recommend just for fun try the old versions and notice the speed difference compared today, and you will scratch your head in how its possible that newer software based on same code has become slower for no apparent reason.
  5. LOL, I meant the old fashion way where you just let the shutter run, it can do up to 15fps, is that not enough?
  6. For this you are better off just using timelapse and set it to shoot lots of downsampled JPEG's instead of RAW DNG's
  7. Basically what we Samsung NX1 users had to do, proxy proxy proxy everytime. Adobe however has completely abandon colour grading though, I am looking for good alternatives with just as powerful editing capability as Premiere Pro, anyone know? Of course I do not pay Adobe a damn SHAIT since they just gave the finger to those of us who bought CS6 Ultimate Collection which cost me a lot of money back in the day. I heard of Resolve but is it as powerful an editor as Premiere Pro?
  8. Meh, only JVC comes close to Samsung NX1 in colour and those cameras costs a hefty sum not to mention they are huge and bulky. Samsung put artists to make the colours, Panasonic put scientists, there will be a very huge difference.
  9. The NX1 has pretty terrible noise reduction going on above 1000/1600 ISO, no idea why they implemented it, its not there in the NX500 for some reasons and even high bitrate wont really solve your ISO issue on the NX1 although regarding the NX500 even though it has no noise reduction even at 4k or 1080p, when you start hitting high ISO specially above 3200ISO its just a mess really, avoid that. And yes you can update the lenses with the custom hacked firmware, the lens firmware is separated from the camera itself, its two different things so it wont harm your camera or anything. ---------------------------------------------------------- All this camera talk over the past 2 years has made me realise that specs really does not mean a jack shit these days, as long as it shoots acceptable video its good enough, the NX1 not just shoots acceptable video it shoots SUPERB video, at least for me. The colour profiles are all like their own film stock and remember that film stocks did not have amazing dynamic range in the past either unless you specifically picked one that did. I been spending more on audio equipment lately and as the professionals always use to say, audio is far more important than the image, I think the NX1 will do me very good for another 7 years or even more, its a little shame I cannot get that extra dynamic range or better ISO performance but you know, for what I spent on the camera which was under 2000 dollars was far less than the Canon 70D or the Sony A7s at the time which was very expensive cameras. The GH4 has smaller sensor so does the GH5 and the GH5 suffers a lot in low light situations still, you need really fast glass for it. Sometimes one just cannot have it all I guess, shame that Samsung officially ended their camera line though, I hope the hacking continues there definitely FAR more potential on the Samsung cameras than the Canon ones in obtaining superb quality video, and even now the Magic Lantern guys have got 4k from their canon cameras, that is amazing if only we too could have RAW video from the Samsung, it would have solved the dynamic range issue and ISO issue. Heck even MJPEG would have, I sort of see why Canon went with MJPEG on the Canon 4DMIV. I plan on hiring someone in the future to at least try to hack it for raw video, but until now I am just going to keep saving, it costs quite a lot to hire someone who know how to work their way around these things, in fact I wonder why we have not gotten together to start a funding page to hire a group to hack the camera to begin with, it would been so more effective, if everyone donated 10 dollars there still would have been quite a lot.
  10. The MJPEG is 640x480 which is 4:3 aspect ratio, but that is the only one.
  11. The 1440p mode seems to cause some really odd artefacts from time to time like these interlacing lines. I have no idea if NX-KS hack fixed it or not though.
  12. Yes it seems my shiny NX1 blended me with its awesomeness I completely forgot we live under Capitalism, were products are made to sell not to be best for the consumer. On the other hand, Panasonic is scaling down as well, what a shame the smartphone market is really handing it to the pro camera market, Sony, Nikon, Canon they are all suffering. No more cheap cameras with lots of features like the NX1 I guess...
  13. Even after the Note battery failure from Samsung they still made more profit than last year, Samsung did not sell cameras poorly in fact they sold quite well since they disappeared from the stores here quite quickly, the stores that did stock the few of them disappeared quickly, camera enthusiasts wont buy them but the regular people buy them, why? Because a lot of people own or have owned Samsung smartphone and they know that Samsung is a brand that they can trust. Its all about the brand name, and people still buy Samsung smartphones even today. To make matters worse for other manufacturers, Samsung made cheap interchangeable cameras which made them extremely popular in Asia specially the NXx000 line as being compact but could still accept a range of lenses. The entire DSLR and mirrorless market is having a hard time selling their cameras as well, fewer people are buying cameras these days because smartphones have so good quality they can match DSLR's from 2007 - 2008, so you loose all the average people who used to buy cameras and you are left with enthusiasts hence why cameras started to cost even more now. Samsung will make more cameras, its all about flexing their muscles, Sony makes cameras and Sony is major competitor to Samsung, for Samsung to not make cameras would be a form of weakness, just saying. Why would they make fridges and TV's? They could just make weapons and make plenty from that.
  14. What settings did you use? And did you use ND filter?
  15. Lee Jae-yong is a traitorous dog to the Korean people and his nation, it was in fact this dog that destroyed the Samsung Camera department and forcefully merged them with the smartphone department for no reasons. In fact it proved to be hurting them more as Samsung phone cameras has actually worsened compared to their competitors and no proper gain has been achieved their JPEG's beat Sony in shitty scale and the sensors seem to be stuck in 2014. It was best to let camera department develop the sensors and let the camera department shrink them like in the old days when NX line became great.
  16. Never stated it was a fact, like I said there been words, I am just repeating what I have heard as for the rest its just a short history of Samsung camera department you can find that anywhere, you might not be familiar with it but Samsung and Pentax actually collaborated for a short period of time while the Pentax rebrand cameras Samsung made were bloody terrible imao they still learned a lot and that is mostly were their sensor tech comes from, you can still find traces of it in NX1 and NX500 even today.
  17. Valid criticism, its pretty cheaply made but one has to consider price for perfomance, in my experience the Røde excel in these parts and Sony and Tascam might be smaller but does not deliver as good sound as the Røde VideoMic Pro its one of the best sounding stereo mics I have heard in a while, and stereo is preferable for professional sound work from a single camera instead of shotgun mics most of them only record mono and while good for interviews and directional sounds they are absolutely terrible at everything else. In my experience a stereo mic is more versatile and can be used virtually everywhere even in an interview which is surprising to me how well it catches sound of the subject even at a distance. But yes I get you a sound team is of course going to be better because they specialise in audio however we live in rich countries and hiring people is astronomical compared to equipment costs and the OP just wanted a good stereo mic which was compact hence I recommend him the brilliant Stereo VideoMic Pro. Also regarding the other things, you are thinking more about cinematography and film making, I believe the OP might be a videographer, now a videographer differs a lot in that his equipment is more compact and portable and that he can do everything a team of filmmakers can do but at the cost of quality. Also he might be a video journalist or even a documentary maker, either also apply as videographers because of costs you rather not want to spend money on lots of equipment and people to handle every small thing but rather compact, small team that can move quickly about. (Yes I know documentary makers also have a guy who handles audio but they use multiple audio sources, the ones from the cameras and the one that the sound guy records, he is mostly for ambience and interview, the cameras handle the rest) Again my mistake was users fault because I was thinking the NX1 is just like any other DSLR camera when it came to audio but I did not realise until afterwards because I was such a moron I did not even have time to get my headsets so I could monitor the audio thanks to the already stressful situation mostly because the producer and turns out the NX1 has VERY sensitive PreAmps, and yes I should have tested it beforehand I had the time. Audio people makes mistake too that is why you always want backup sound which may not be good but its better than not having any sound at all.
  18. You want good audio? Get tennis ball Stereo VideoMic Pro I swear by the Gods with this, its so CRISP, its so DETAILED holy moly its good, HOWEVER NX1 PreAmps are terribly sensitive, its in fact so sensitive they completely ruined an entire video shot I did and cost me a lot of cash. So here is what you have to do in order to keep great audio quality, on the Stereo VideoMic Pro you can boost the audio by +20, do that and then turn down the volume inside the NX1 as much as possible or else you will have TERRIBLE static noise in the background. The microphone is powered by a 9 volt square battery, you can get lithium ones which will last you forever and you can recharge them. But I not had to change the battery in mine since 2015, that is two years since. http://www.rode.com/microphones/stereovideomicproc
  19. I got rid of the blocking issues with 140mbps although anything above that will give you CONSTANT errors saying your card is too slow despite I have the fastest card money can buy but the processor cannot keep up doing autofocus and the bitrate at the same time, if you do manual focus then you can cram it all the way up to 220mbps but 180mbps is most stable in that situation.
  20. I suggest to get the most out of the NX1 is to put negative 10 on sharpness, lower contrasts a little by negative 2 and increase Colour saturation by 2 and then use any of the picture profiles cause they are gorgeous even the normal one outputs sexy colours, just decrease the green by 0.95 or 0.90 whatever you feel is best, do it for all the picture profiles as all the NX cameras are green biased. Nice work otherwise, I guess I should not voice my opinions too loud because I have not even edited together all those footages I have shot over the year I guess I must get to it.
  21. Hold your hats ladies and gentlemen, not so fast, the Samsung camera department is not dead yet, with the latest scandals at Samsung there been words that Samsung is once again putting focus on their mirrorless cameras. And also it was the son of head of Samsung groups that decided to lay off the cameras and move the team to focus on smartphone stuff, it clearly has not worked and one of their wonderful smartphones caught fire, a lot of people do not realise either but Samsung never had a proper camera department until they actually bought Pentax tech and people say that their smartphone department made great strides in sensor technology is simply not true, it was a two way cooperation between the camera department and the smartphone department. There still hopes for NX2
  22. A wise man once said, "The audience does not care about image quality, they care about composition and story" This is even more true for the fact that VHS even made such a success as it did despite Beta being the superior format with superior picture quality, Laserdisc even more so and VideoCD outselling DVD's until 2004

  24. I think the speed difference comes down to the fact that the motor in the 30mm has only a fixed focal length to move while the 16-50mm is a zoom and zoom lenses are ALWAYS slower than quality prime lenses, and yes Luca is right the zoom is slower at 50mm than it is on 16mm because the motor must move the zoom more at the longer ranges than it will have to in the wider ones. It be interesting to see how it acts as an adapter though.
  25. I think you are misunderstanding, I am not referring to you at all. The 30mm is still fast AF, I am interested in how it would work with continuous autofocus specially video. Metabones are overrated all over the internet, my reference was towards the internet in general.
