I know this might not have much to do with your original issues but the SanDisk SD cards seem to be inferior quality compared to many of the other manufactured SD cards out there, Lexar is Korean manufactured and have of course the Samsung approves invincible sticker on them, if you REALLY want the most stable SD cards with the Samsung camera get a Lexar card, mine runs very good at 160 - 180mbps but I keep the bitrate at 140mbps most time so I avoid dropped frames or corrupted frames which seems to occur at high bitrates

Do what I usually do, put your phone to alarm you after 65 minutes, I do this in interviews when I plug the NX1 and NX500 into the wall and do hour long interview sessions in 4k. There is no way they can survive that long recording 4k video with bitrate hack of 140mbps, 180mbps consume even more so your battery is going to run flat before you even reach 60 minute mark unless you got the battery grip.

This one is pretty useless, you somehow have to obtain the file created and configure it in some program on your PC because the options for it are shit, you basically just making a preset for your camera to shoot after, you select it in the smart mode on your NX1 or NX500, its same as those other fancy stuff they have, its basically just a pre filter they add on afterwards but instead of doing it yourself the camera does it for you.

and Nikon F, I would pay half my soul for one, it would make the camera have a very long life with these adapters.
-
I think its easier if they managed to get 1080p and 2160p MJPEG instead

I found it easier to shoot public if you wear an uniform or look like a tourist, I dunno why but people just automatically just ignore you. You occasionally get children coming up to you though who wants to be on television, after a while its gets VERY annoying but its not like you can yell at them in the public.
-
Amazing, I wish I had the balls like you to just film public like that, I tried but maybe there is still some shyness inside of me. That and everytime you pull a big camera in the public in such a small city as I live, people instantly look weird at you. What is your secret?

Think its just better to get a pro camcorder if you want to run and gun to be honest with you, the latest JVC one had amazing colours. Canon C100M2 is exaggerating a bit, its too old now and its Canon, overpriced. You are paying mostly for a brand. 5DM4 might be amazing IF they learn anything these past years.

Seems to me that certain person I wont name overreacted unnecessarily. (PS: I do not know what 'might' have happened to them in privacy) This is the sort of stuff that sinks ship, its unmanly, I am sure all of us have worked with people we surely did not end up being the best friends but we coped with it because it would be beneficial for the team. Its really silly, all one has to do is just give credits in readme files and boom, heck even in the hack mod pack I could see the credits, so I am not sure really what the issues are for either parts. Maybe this is just cloudy weather and soon there might be sunny weather, hopefully.

I know the Blackmagic Video Assist got them, I would save up for one because its kind of future proof, the 1080p screen is very cheap for all the good features it gives you, it also lets you load a LUT so you wont have to do the conversion in post, its already done in the recorder inside the screen and edit ready in your SD card. It also feels more premium than its competitors which frankly, got good features but lacks everywhere else specially battery life. Powering a SSD requires considerably more power than powering a tiny SD card.

You also forgot that the A7 Mark II series overheats when shooting UHD/4k and 120fps. I know some with A7sII because they love astrophotography, they work fine in winter, but when the summer comes they start overheating specially under heavy workload, its either the camera overheats or the battery runs out. Its a killer feature if you ask me, I worked on some productions were I do not even have time to think I just gotta be ready to run with the camera in my hand to the other location perhaps its just poor production crew but imagine if my camera ran out of all my batteries or it started overheating, bad business for all of us.

It could be possible, hopefully its added but there are some ext screens that feature this and they work for the NX1 I seen some I just cannot remember the name of them, one of them featured a lot of crop settings, all from cinescope to 4:3 and so on. Might not be what you are looking for but its a good tool if you need ext screens for NX1, I highly recommend Blackmagic Video Assist though, its very versatile and has the things you need, its also cheap for what it gives you compared to some other brands. You going to need a bigger display when you start tightening in the crop on the display. 2.35:1 including in NX1 are a set of thin lines which the guy before me said, are hard to see, and I used the NX1 in short films it really needs an ext monitor if you need the perfect shot.

Yeah I used to own the A7s I also used the GH4 but the tiny sensor almost gave me tumour in low light, great camera otherwise you just need light, a lot of it. A7s is, lets just say............ A good photo low light camera, but not so much for video...... 1080p and horrid rolling shutter with terrible menus and God awful ergonomics even worse than the A7sII/A7rII In a way the NX1 is the perfect camera, its got the perfect body, its got all the tech inside we just needed to unlock the goodies in video mode. Photos are a class of its own too, only Nikon beats it in APS-C size when it comes to photography. I wish the rumour of Nikon buying Samsung camera line was true, I would pay my left leg for a Nikon NX2 with that great video features and mirrorless Samsung sensor tech with a Nikon mount.
-
Well yes e-shutter basically works just like it does for video. However the 5DM3 does line skipping while NX1 reads the entire sensor and then downsamples it, at this point I just get a headache from thinking about all the technicalities maybe someone with more expertise can reply explaining how, why and why not. I am pretty sure the NX1 could technically do raw videos but at 2160p or 4k I am a bit sceptical as its a lot of data to process and dump into the SD card, remember it downsamples it which means the CPU is actually doing something unlike with the 5DM3 where it just dumps it without doing much other than corrections. Its more possible it would be raw video at 1440p but this would require some serious hacking like Magic Lantern if not even more.
-
RAW video will be slightly different from burst photos though, the NX1 is not locked to 15fps, that is just how fast the shutter is capable of physically moving, 5DM3 does 24 and even 60fps raw video just fine albeit at resolutions as low as 720p. Its just a matter of how much data the camera is capable of writing to the card, like the Canon 500D can do 1080p RAW video just fine, but the SD card module just is not capable dealing with such a high data flow. Samsung NX1 however is, but then again we would have to find a way to get RAW data out of the sensor and dump it into the SD card to begin with, the best we can hope with is MJPEG or JPEG dump, and JPEG's are already a billion times better than the HEVC already in terms of quality and dynamic range including the data there is in each frame. Do a burst even at downsampled resolution and you get seriously good imagery that look like something from a Red.

Looks like we are running out of stock of NX1's in Norway as well, I would get them off eBay if possible as they are brand new, our resellers are very reputable duo to strict laws and regulations. A lot of them apparently do not ship outside Scandinavia sadly after I contacted them, their excuse is that the Norwegian/Scandinavian sellers protection does not apply for foreigners. I did see a 16-50mm F/2-2.8 on eBay brand new a few days ago, so do what I said. Save the search on eBay for NX1 and the lens and eventually they popup. Is it truly worth paying full price for it? Depends, I would go with second hand if I where you, kidzrevil has a nice deal, I would get that one if I where you. Because the thing is, its a fantastic camera I am glad I bought it but next year there might be another amazing beast coming out, what then? You already bought full priced NX1 which is dead in the water. Instead buy a second hand and then if an amazing beast comes out you saved money or either sell the NX1 and jump on that because the hard truth is, the NX1 and NX500 are fantastic but the lens selection are not that great and very expensive compared to lets say MFT or Sony E-mount and even though Samsung does have lenses for a variety of scenarios they are quite the expensive stuff for something you most likely will only be using with NX1 or NX500. But my advice, do not spend too much into a dead camera line, Samsung are like that they make good shit but then they wont make anything after it leaving you with a great shit and loads of adapters and extras but you cannot even use it for anything but your great shit which eventually fails duo to planned obsolescences, why you think cameras have limited shutter speed.

Can you provide examples of this? Just so I can reproduce them.

Check these out: http://www.stavangerfoto.no/Nettbutikk/Kamera/Speill%C3%B8st-systemkamera/Samsung/Samsung-NX1-m-16-50mm-F20-28-S-ED-OIS-28mp-4K-video-15bps-sprutsikkert112487-p0000036545?plid=36545&ref=prisjakt http://www.prisjakt.no/product.php?p=2844131 Also I mostly recommend getting it from eBay as there are bunch of Korean sellers who sell out the cameras and other older Samsung cameras to clear stock quick as possible: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=Samsung%20NX1&_dcat=31388&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=1000&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 Add Samsung NX1 and the lens to search watch so you get mail updates everyday of new models being put to sale. I would have bought a secondary unit but its too expensive for me and who knows, might be NX2 in the future, one can always dream I suppose.

When I did a JPEG vs video comparison, the JPEG even at highest compression still performed vastly superior to video even when JPEG was downscaled. Samsung is doing something funky weird stuff with the downscaling for video, that or its that cursed NR screwing up the image.
-
Very nice, I might test that out too at -10 -5 and 0 sharpness at high ISO from 800 to 6400 both NX1 and NX500 to see if it really makes a massive impact or not, if your theory is correct that actually means 0 is sharpness off and -10 is actually blurring the footage digitally.
-
I can do a more throughout test later but from those two pictures at full resolution, it looks to me like the NX500 does not do NR at all because the grain is so fine detailed. It could also be like you said because its a true sensor readout versus downscaling however that still makes no sense because there is no NR in 2.5k mode and the noise pattern is similar to 2160p and 4k, but I will do a better test later unless someone else does it before me.
-
You can easily revert to 1.40 and 1.11 in NX1 and NX500, just put the firmware on SD card and update as you normally would with a new update, and it will backflash them.

What the schnitzel! Canon did not even make it top 3! What on earth? Could it be, could it possibly be people have realised that Canon is a load of fakery that uses the same image sensors the Soviets used on their moon rover from the 1960s? Yet charges more for the 7DM2 than the NX1 cost at launch. Great news, I will pick up Film Convert when they make the profile. Now we just need VisionColor to realise how important the NX1 and NX500 is and make a profile for them as well, GammaDR and Normal Profile.
