Any bets on when sony a7s III might be released?
thefactory replied to cojocaru27's topic in Cameras
I’m sick of waiting for it. Looking for a gh5 now. A7sii might become b-cam or trade it for a7rii -
I use kyno. It’s pretty good overall. They do regular updates that improve stuff as well. Think the do a free trial.

All the ones I’m selling. You should buy them.

Yeah the entry level stuff is still a bit junky. I have been playing with the Insta360 one (300 bucks) and it’s not up to it yet but they already have OverCapture type software. I think you need 8k to get decent results. I think the Insta360 Pro does 8k (6k internal camera auto stitching 8k external stitching). The next 12 months is going to be interesting as the higher end stuff is coming down in price fast.

Bit late to the 360 party and already behind.

These look really good. Would you get similar results with the fs5? -

To get that kind of footage I reckon I could get used to that. Shot with fs700 in the past. They are getting quite cheap we’re I live now, might be time. -

Interesting. Would love some pics of the setup. -
I have the 85 in ef mount and really like it. Thinking of getting the full set but can’t choose between these and a set of Veydra’s. Shooting mainly on Sony and looking to play with some Fuji gear soon. You can use an adaptor on the Veydra e-mount to Fuji X. Can also switch them to m4/3 as well by changing out e-mount and putting in the m4/3 (3 screws) The Samyang are cheaper and versatile across cameras (and cover full frame). Veydra better quality, some what versatile, but don’t cover full frame. Please help me choose as its doing my head in! And thanks heaps @IronFilm. I have spent most of today checking out ZF.2’s as well.

Wow. Watched his latest one and it’s really good. Might actually inspire me to chuck the 35mm on and go for a walk.

Yep easy. Even for new sites if you have the right structures and workflows. It does not even cost that much to do. You can do this without getting banned or buying links and still get right up the rankings from nothing. Think you should re read my second point. Never said the creator won’t benefit.

There's talk of the new A7iii being released in October. In the past, they have not released the R or the S at the same time. I think that may be the case again and the others might be due early next year. Hope the rumours are wrong as I would like to see it sooner as I'm getting envious of the GH5 and also eyeing of some Fuji gear. After switching systems so many times though I am now heavily invested in Sony glass so might have to wait it out.

That's not my point. Of course, the original creator will want the extra views and exposure. It's easy for big sites to "repurpose" other peoples content. But in Googles eyes, the higher ranking site is often credited as the original source. It would have taken all of about 10 mins to create that article. A lot more effort went into the original video. It's not exactly fair. My point is that DP will get many benefits by doing so. Often more benefit than the original. Its lazy but it works. We are now bombarded by thin content, repurpose content, click bait etc. Google does not care as long as we keep typing shit into Google and clicking on those ads. And now its so easy to get rankings using these techniques it's not going away anytime soon.

This is straight from the "new age" SEO play book and Googles recent algorithm changes loves this kind of shit. An example is the "The pros and cons of natural light vs off-camera flash" article/video they posted. Take someone else's content and embed it, put a couple 100 words around a video. Because of the size of DP it already out-ranks the original video post on Youtube for the term "Natural light vs off camera flash" which is the name of the youtube video. Next, they will start blasting social channels, reposting stuff often "in case you missed it" blah blah blah. Signal, signal and more signal. Its thin content but if you have the audience and you don't piss them off too much their search rankings go through the roof. And what about the original poster? They are probably happy with the extra views anyway so they might not complain.

Have you seen the prices on the accessories? They are insane. want to ad a filter? $150 for the filter plate Add a cage? $250 for the privilege. Spare lens protector? $100 and yes, it’s waterproof. But to make it dive proof, and as mentioned in another post. That will cost you $900. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/items/ci/36982/N/3499661351

Not sure about your battery comment. Have you ever shot hfr on the RX100 4/5? The battery is chewed up very quickly. If you are using rx0 for hfr (if it’s implemented well, it’s one of reasons I would buy it) I cant see how that tiny battery could last. Looks like the have developed a gimbal for it. i don’t speak Spanish but there seems to be many accessories in this video that look useful.
-
I really like my Sony action cams and RX100 4 but the some of the specs on this are a step backwards. I get the lack of 4K due to heat issues. But the battery they are using is smaller than the RX100/Acton cam battery and only 700mah. anyone that uses the RX100 for video will know, it eats battiers for breakfest. I can’t see the rx0 being able to shoot for long periods without power or extra battiers . And they could do better than f4 for low light. Very keen to see how the implement the slow mo functions. If it’s 1 button push and no stuffing around that will be useful. On the RX100 by the time you set up the camera for hfr you have missed the moment. I do like the waterproofing, the cage and the ability to use filters. Probably end up getting one for a play, but I’m already waiting for the rx0 Mark II.

New Zhiyun Crane 2 for preorder on BH
thefactory replied to Marcio Kabke Pinheiro's topic in Cameras
Think it might be a zoom control. The older design has zoom on the handle and now it’s not there on this model -
-
I have owned the h1, h1+ and the h2. I have had so many issues with all of them. I never want to see that basecam PID software ever again. I bought a zhiyun crane a couple of weeks back. Have not used it extensively yet but just with a quick balance out of the box on the a7sii 24-70 fe it performed very well. the h2 c45 looks interesting. But on the FB pilot fly group people are already having issues with it.

Sheeeet. Did not know that. I have been moving around 20tb of libraries this week as my NAS shit itself. Opening every library to delete optimized media etc to make the libary smaller and had heaps of red in the time lines due to old plugins that i dont use anymore. I was going through each project and deleting the plugins scene by scene.

eGPU for video processing on a laptop – Does it make sense?
thefactory replied to Don Kotlos's topic in Cameras
Thanks for the info. I have been recently looking for a new setup as I'm on thunderbolt one tech and getting sick of the slow transfer speeds. But when i looked into the latest MacBooks i was not impressed with the specs. One benchmark tests my 2013 iMac with the top specs still competes with the top spec 15 inch MacBook Pro. I'm kind of sick of having many different computers. (2013 MacBook Pro with top specs at the time, 2013 iMac and big iPad Pro). Think laptop with and a bunch on thunderbolt 3 devices. The 13 inch is a good size but specs are not great. But maybe eGPU helps with that. How are you finding it now after using it for a few weeks?
