  1. I must say, those videos from the list got me a bit confused. Some footage looks extremely good, like this one https://vimeo.com/231103934 Some other footage looks pretty bad, like this one https://vimeo.com/82889552 Not sure if it has something to do with 444 upgrade, or using internal vs external recording. Can anyone clarify? I mean, the first clip looks very good to my eye, amazing lowlight and SHARP. The second reminds me of a bad 90s camcorder with noise reduction and sharpening going on there. I'm collaborating with a friend of mine who's also a DP full time, he says he worked with this camera a lot in the past and it's not good, so that's holding me off from buying it, otherwise I would've pulled the trigger on it already, you guys seem to love it. Also the price for the body is on a cheap side, yes, that $1400 cam you've linked to earlier seems like a great deal, but Covergent recorders seem to cost another $1500, and that's a 3k package we're looking at, excluding cost of SSDs for the recorder. To be frank I can stretch the budget quite some, I think up to 4.5k. If Ursa MP 4.6 fit there it would be a no brainer, but the 4k sensor seems to be super bad, and the regular (not pro) version seems to be a hassle when it comes to media, and also does not have NDs. The HD, well, I was super keen on that idea, thinking that "what's in front of the camera is what matters", and I also watched that video from the new Star Wars episode DP, where he talks about how the resolution does not matter, but then I watched all these example/test videos on my 5k monitor, I realized that 4k is king. Probably with modern technologies going beyond 4k will not make sense to a guy like me, but I can clearly see the difference between HD and 4k, and I want 4k so badly! I know, I sound like an immature child, and there is no perfect camera, and I want too much – all those features I listed in original post and 4k in addition, for only 5k bucks, and it's probably not going to happen, but can't forbid a man to dream, huh? I've spotted a Kinemini for sale today, it's a package for $4k. Seems to tick all the boxes apart from the NDs, but watched the footage on vimeo/yutube and apart from this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhyCOtG9aWE I could not find anything decent. I guess I'm back to square one. P.S. I really appreciate all the thoughts, guys!
  2. I have taken a closer look at the F3 and for some reason I'm struggling to find any good videos with decent sharpness on it except for these two and Other videos look really blurry even for HD.
  3. What WOULD you get? Considering your channel is all about getting good deals, maybe you have something to recommend for the up to 4k price bracket for a ready to shoot package?
  4. Thanks guys! I'm really unfamiliar with F3, looking at it right now. How would it compare with the c300?
  5. Hello there, I'm looking to buy a used cinema camera that does full HD (yes, not 4k) and has a nice 1.5x crop sensor or around that. I want it to be PL as I have a set of PL lomos that I plan to shoot with, paired with my Iscorama 36. I don't want to get a GH family camera or bmcc with speedbooster, and sensor size matters to me, as I want that DOF and FOV of a 1.5x crop sensor, so please don't suggest to get a 2x crop camera. I would imagine some old flagship cameras from brands like Canon is what I would be looking at. Ideally I would want 60p and built-in NDs, but my main focus would be color science, DR and highlight rolloff, as well as low light performance. So far I have done a lot of googling, and usually newer articles pop up, that talk about 4k cams. I would actually go for a 4k cam, was looking at the Ursa MP but I don't have the capacity to store and edit that much data and the price would be sort of a stretch for me, so I better get a HD cam and some decent lights. So what would you guys recommend? I have an HDMI monitor (not recorder tho) with anamorphic de-squeeze, so in cam anamorphic mode is not a must. I have looked at C300 prices, looks like a ready-to-shoot package would be around $2500 and that's a good price IMO, but maybe there's something better in this price bracket? I would reeeeeeally appreciate any advice, as I've started learning about cinema cameras during the 4k era and know little about the HD superstars. So to sum up – Full HD, PL mount option, great skin tones and overall color science, grade-able codec, great DR and smooth highlight roll-off, good low light performance, NDs and maybe 60p. Budget is stretchable. Thanks you guys!

  7. I have posted PDF twice by mistake. Here's a video with features
  8. Hey guys, I wanted to share this rehousing mod I made recently for my Iscorama 36. It's a replacement for a front piece of old plastic housing, that is made of anodized aluminum and has cine gears, retaining 72mm front filter threads and adding just 50 grams of weight. It took me quite some time to figure out this design and I'm pretty proud of it! It solves some real-world problems like close-focus, enabling you to focus down to 1.1m, but unlike DIY mode it has a hard stop at 1.1m and infinity, and looks way nicer then a grub screw drilled into a hole. I made a little video explaining what it is, since after I posted this on facebook people started asking what it does and what are the specs, and asking how to buy one. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wd1w620ddxnv2je/proxiscope.pdf?dl=0 I have decided to order a small batch of these, and already placed an order at one of the shops that does the first stage of the milling. I will make another video showing a closeup process of swapping the housings, so people can evaluate the effort and see if the price (which will be announced at the same time) is right for them. This is intended as a do-it-at-home kind of mod, but you can also take it to the nearest photo technician and they'd be able to do it for you, it's a simple process that takes 3-5 minutes to perform. I also made a PDF with some specs, you can find it here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wd1w620ddxnv2je/proxiscope.pdf?dl=0 If you're interested in getting one – shoot me a message and we'll figure it out, there's a little queue forming already
  9. I am as well interested to know more about them, as from time to time good deals pop ip, but I just don't know if they're worth it.
  10. You have posted this under two topics. I'm assuming you're talking about the guy who is selling the overpriced anamorphics on ebay, and you've posted this in my thread by mistake. If so - please remove this message, it's not doing me any good. But if you registered just to shitpost, then I probably should not expect you do that. Anyways, thanks for the bump.
  11. There's a set of spherical Lomos on my way, that would be adapted to PL mount. I also have Iscorama 36, and plan to use them all together, but I don't have a PL mount camera. I have currently only owned and used 5d, BMPCC and currently own a BMMCC. I'm looking for a more serious camera to shoot music videos, narratives, and mostly psychedelic/creative stuff. I think I can sell BMMCC, add 1 grand and buy an original Ursa v1 (one sold on eBay yesterday for $1.7k). People tell me it's an awful, badly designed camera. So why, why should I NOT buy the Ursa?
  12. Hey guys, I'm just cross-posting from this thread to make all the anamorphic junkies see it. Lots of pics inside. Only secure paypal-guaranteed deals accepted via "pay for goods and services". This will go for the best offer.
  13. This is my debut work, that took me 2.5 years to finish. I've learned so much from this community, that I just had to post it here. This is a music video for the band where I sing. Shot on BMMCC with contax glass, rangefinder and isco s8 2x. Big shout out to @Tito Ferradans @richg101 @ken and @Hans Punk. You guys are all listed down in credits for providing so much help with getting into the whole anamorphic thing. I was making those credits in hurry and totally forgot to include @Bioskop.Inc so a special thanks and an apology goes to you!
  14. Can you go with 40mm pancake with bigger iscoramas, like 42 and 54?
  15. Is there a difference between 16/32/1.5x and 32/1.5x?
  16. Your first post sounded so apologetic, that I was prepared to watch some real crap, and was absolutely surprised with what I actually saw. Yes, some stuff might be tightened, and yes, sound would add a ton to the viewing experience, and yes, you should keep working on it, as it can be a pretty solid short, if polished.
  17. You mean the ones used in glasses?) If so, I have those too =)
  18. Is there such thing as a common negative diopter? -0.33 or something like that?
  19. Yeah, the name plate wont come on anymore. I use a big heavy duty aluminum clamp that fits around the "nose" of the isco, custom made.
  20. Is it possible to get the focusing group apart from the anamorphic and use it with other scopes (like 1.5 babies)? I see that everyone detaches the front element, and the second stays with the anamorphic glass, so can that one be detached too?
  21. It exports easy DCP just fine, I just can't look at what's inside, so not sure about above mentioned watermarks (are those from resolve itself? If so, I'm not using light, but a full version). Tomorrow is a test run, so there's no stress, as I can have as many of test runs as I want, each limited to 10 minutes every morning before theatre starts letting people in. My video is a mix of 1:2.66 anamorphic footage and 3:4 academy, so I'm still trying to figure out which of the 2K setting I should choose. 2K Flat has black bars on the left and right of anamorphic footage.
  22. Hey! So my debut work is gonna be shown in a local cinema, and I have a test run tomorrow morning. I have never exported anything for the movie theaters and would need some help. I was told that the footage is supposed to be in DCP format, 2k res. When I export my project from Resolve, I can only see easyDCP format, and am not sure if that's the one I need. I am also not sure which coded I should use (footage shot is ProresHQ). There's also a bunch of setting under "advanced" dropdown in resolve, do I need to touch any of those? Thanks!
  23. Looking to do a creative grade for a thing I've shot, want to try a three-strip look, but the whole thing is shot on the snow, and I'm not sure where to get a good reference for that. Any movies you know that have a good snow shots?
