Other interesting stuff: "9 x 16 Vertical Capture Use the 1/4"-20 tripod thread built into the grip to position the EOS C70 for vertical use when capturing images for digital signage or mobile device use. For easier viewing, the user interface can also be switched for vertical use. EIS with Coordinated Control To smooth out handheld shots, EOS C70 is the first Cinema EOS camera to offer enhanced image stabilization with coordinated control. When used with an RF-mount lens and the EOS C70's electronic IS, coordinated control optimizes hand-shake correction for even greater vibration reduction than that obtained with an EF-mount lens and electronic IS. When working in the 2K format, the EOS C70's Super16 Digital IS improves performance by using the peripheral area around the center of the 4K sensor to stabilize the image. Auto ISO/Gain Control In another first for the Cinema EOS line, the EOS C70 can automatically adjust ISO and Gain Control using the DGO (dual gain output) to change gain smoothly, enabling users to concentrate on their framing instead of their aperture control when moving between locations with notable changes in light levels."

This is very interesting. Hope this is the answer to the C70. The official price of the Canon here is 5.999€, add the adapters and an extra battery or two, and you are reaching easily the 7.000€ mark. If one can get similar performance, except AF of course, for half the price, then why not? For most people a convinient m43 "camcorder/cine camera" will be a dream come true, that can be even more significant than the new GH and something we are waiting for since that m43 cine camera that I even forget it's name!! Most of us even have the adapters and the lenses to go straight to it.

I didn't know about the OLPF filter, very interesting. Price in EUR € 375,- (excluding 21% VAT, excluding shipping). so expensive though! Maybe I will stick to the Hoya for now, as much as I would prefer an internal solution.

Cheers! What equipment do you suggest and what are the bandwidth limitations do you think?
-
I read your comment on that other photo site! So I get you more. I wish it had everything myself, I am not negative, just know how the industry works! Imagine the camera as you described, would make the C300mkIII almost unneeded!
-
I understand what you say, I am just glad they offer as much! You describe a different kind of workflow though. When we say "fast turnaround", we mean minimum, or not at all post. At least that is how we do it in some fields, most of the times I do not even edit the footage, just give it to the editing department, these guys do not like tweaking things much, they ask mixed sound and whatever they can get from the already shot image. We are talking about national televised shows here (FS7 cameras mainly), so imagine for even faster and lower budgeted jobs.. all these with much respect to your opinion of course. I personally know noone working raw for those, it is definitely not the standard in the industry, and we talking tv shows, not lesser jobs. IBIS is a staple NOT in cine cameras, I am not sure how suddenly is another negative, and 8K?! are you serious?!! I believe you may have to invest on the Ursa 12K then, it seems more suitable for your needs and you have the extra resolution to stabilize and crop for 8K delivery, this is NOT the camera, oh, and Ursa doesn't have IBIS of course.

this is a camera we were waiting for a few years now. I am surprised there is not more interest on the forum.. just 10 pages? I remember it was 100 pages on the P4K one back in the day!

I had a proposition to cover a local football (soccer!) league for minimal requirements, but the important thing is, that the teams need unique codes to sell instead of tickets. Does anyone know any solution? What you do think about it, and what hardware/software you consider as essential?
-
Suddenly all cameras have to have raw?! 12 months ago that wasn't even the norm. 3 years ago? 5 years ago? and how much you needed for that? This is a fast turn around camera. Buy the C300 or C200 if you need Canon raw so much, or a Pocket 4K for 1/4 of the money, or any other option. C200 especially will trickle down in price considerably, there will be dead cheap ones in the wild really soon. As simple as that. You hate to do transcoding to all your footage, but have plenty of time to work raw files? The huge success of the C100 cameras, were/is the fact that you didn't need much time in post, that was the greatest selling point of those cameras, and sold really good. This is the C100mkII of the new age, so that is the intended use, there are other products more suitable for your needs, I am certain. One product can't please everyone. The 18-80 is a perfect fit but quite pricey some will say, the cheap solution is the 18-135mm, dead cheap and sufficient for most run and gun needs.
-
The codecs are just fine for the intended use. The sensor seems at least a generation and a half ahead of the C200 one. It has everything a small production company needs. Most weddings are shoot with mirrorless these days, do not see many of those buy a C camera, only the "top" tier = which is low anyway.. This is the most exciting Canon release since the original C100 I believe, I am not sure where the catch is. They even offer an original speedbooster and I can use both my 18-135 nano and 70-200 white! I mean, wtf Canon?! Are you seriously giving me everything I need????!!!! I may go full in Canon this round, still waiting for the GH6, maybe it will be alright as a cheap solution together my Pocket and NX cameras and lenses, but Canon is on a roll..still can't decide on the R6 though..
-
Oh my! I have to sell most things and buy this. It is just perfect for me. GH5 replacement?! get serious guys...this is a different fruit. Only the GH6 will be a GH5 replacement.. C200?!! I was laughing at that camera back in the day, one of the most useless releases of all time, that camera was crazy expensive in some parts of Europe back then, just for the 4K 8bit the C100mkII didn't have and the raw lite a few used (not one I know ever bothered to buy cards for raw). C200 costs 6200euros currently in my market. Does anyone know if this can possible fit a Ronin S, or I have to sell that as well (not even used once..).

oh my...the dark days are coming. at least we do not have a pandemic upon our heads..wait, what?! 🙂
-
Is the G9 the best Panasonic right now? What are the differences between that and GH5? I am thinking, when the GH6 will be here, even a G9 could probably be enough for my needs for a 2nd, 3rd camera option. Already have some lenses, speedboosters, adapters and the such.
-
Very well said. It is interesting that after so many full frame releases, we are waiting for a m43 camera before we decide! R6 is still kind of tempting though.

sorry for bringing that back, but I can't seem to find this filter. https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Hoya-77mm-Cut-Screw-Filter/dp/B006OIJTIG/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=ir-cut+filter&qid=1600627370&sr=8-3 is this ok to buy? any other suggestion? When do you people use your IR filters? and can you use it with an ND or Polarizing one?
-
I bought the lens Nano version just exactly to use it with the C100mkII on various jobs. I just wish it was an 16 - to whatever, I do not mind the tele end, but those 2mm are quite important for my style. Anyway, it is a great cheap lens for the C100 cameras. For more tele, I have the 70-200mm 4f, the 2.8 in my opinion is a lot bigger/heavier/expensiv-ier and I never use less than 4f anyway, so, that's that. I was also considering the 10-18mm, but I haven't yet, and I am not using C100 cameras anymore, anyway..

haha not even the snail was in focus at f4!! oh my...

100%. No way a 12mgpxl sensor can cover my photographic needs, and I was shooting film (and S8) for years and years before even the Mavica (so I am not "digitally" spoiled). I have decided that 24mgpxls are ok, and I am trying to decide if the R6 is enough..42mp are too much for my needs though, I am not specializing that much. Maybe A7iv will be the answear to our prayers, 7Siii brings so many vital improvements to the A ecosystem, but still is not a true 50 - 50 hybrid, is a video orientated one that can take pictures, if 12 is your magic number, then some of you are going to be very happy very soon. I am not!

https://wccftech.com/sony-a7c-mirrorless-camera-leaks-ahead-of-official-announcement/ 2400euros for this and that lens?! I am confused.. The a6xxx cameras are the worst cameras in terms of ergonomics that I have used in my whole life. How can anyone like something so wrong? NX500 in 2016 was way better (full touch screen capabilities, double wheels , e.t.c)

During this pandemic we had HUGE Canon R5/R6 releases and the almost mythical A7sIII, a camera so late, that stayed a couple of latin numbers behind the rest of their mirrorless. We probably will see V and VI and this sIII will be still there! Most companies stayed in the plan. Maybe 2-6 months delay, but stayed on course. Panasonic spend most of its resources for the L mount, they are not Samsung, they have limited sources. Now that we do not expect much for the L (maybe lenses and accessories, even an EVA L or similar from the cine department) they will concentrate their efforts on the GH6. It could be an 8K workhorse video camera, the one they promised for the Olympics, but even 6K for me will be perfect. It will be the bomb, and only us we will buy it!
-
indeed, thank you very much. They recently started asking for double delivery in Greece, 1080 and 4K, even though there is no 4K channel! Maybe they are thinking slightly ahead, which is surprising for anything Greek! Was that so difficult for Canon to offer these settings to the C200?!! Sorry for the off topic.
-
what are the standards on delivery to the French Nation Television? Do they have shooting and delivery standards?
-
why so pessimistic?! It is pretty obvious that the Alliance exhausted all its resources for the L mount this year. I do not see another camera release for the next 18 months. Maybe something from the Varicam division or something, but certainly they will put more weight on the m43 for 2021. There will be at least 1 significant release I predict. GH5 and GH5S are already video workhorses, maybe the most video capable hybrids ever build. Now that full frame competitors closing their distance, we will have another significant GH release soon. We have heard a lot of different things in this thread that GH6 can bring to the table to play with the big (sensored) boys. It will be financial suicide if they stop m43 production. We said before, a smaller sensor can have a lot of advantages in this era of small-sensored domination (camera phones).
-
Maybe they want to perform harakiri (seppuku) anyway and leave us with clearer choices and not waste our money and energy to them. They seem lost to me. There is no road map for m43, no any news for a while, expect Olympus going down. Latest releases confusing and not anything special since the GH5 and G9 I guess. The S5 should be an entry level much cheaper camera, like the Z5 and the RP and all the others. Now they have a 2.000$ entry level one?! yes, right, good luck with that.. And now what? make an APS-C camera? how is this going to help anyone? It will be so much more confusing that everyone will abandon Panasonic once and for all! The money maker was m43 and GH for so long, let's concentrate there, do their best, and then continue with their L system. They have to lower the prices a bit to be competitive, very clearly they do not sell well.

You are 75% wrong. For years we are talking about the E.U "tax", everything here is a lot more expensive and include tax/VAT, while the U.S prices, maybe they do, maybe do not. Most things are a lot more expensive in Europe, even European things, like Sennheiser mics, MKH50 par example, one of my favorite microphones ever, is around 1.200$ in U.S, and around 1550euros =1850$, and it is made in Germany. Canon cameras for years are a lot more expensive in Europe, for many posts I was saying how expensive the C200 was, while relatively modest priced in U.S, in my E.U country was thousands of $ more. You can order something from U.S, but you have to pay V.A.T/tax and customs. Maybe A7sIII is too new to send copies elsewhere, wait a month or so. Some things are closer to what you are saying, I am just not sure, that is why I give you the 25%!
