Yeah, the camera is terrible, but the review incredible! I thought it was some kind of action cam, but then, it had a bigger sensor. If it does what he wants, and getting money on top of that, then well done!

I am watching in 2K, and everything seems just right! The only thing I can't explain, is a slight "tremble" in the stabilizer shots, is this the Crane or warp stabilizer? Luca for sure did a great job, and over-achieve; where Metabones people said it wasn't even possible. Bravo Luca! You beat a whole world leading company on your own! I have an unusual request, can you upload a picture of the NX500/12mm? It must be a really interesting pair, especially for gimbal work, but for B cam as well. Thanks for posting.

@markr041 I understand, there are a few tiny tripods though (like the Manfrotto Compact Action that I carry into my backpack) that maybe worth the "inconvenience" (just one kilo!). Can you shoot something with a higher ISO? Can we see the best stabilization mode with some movement with it? I am waiting a long time for a considerable better action cam than the Yis and the Yans, and maybe this Sony does it, for the very first time. Thanks for posting.

@aldolega @Eric Calabros I completely agree with Aldo, and you main not gain nothing over H264 quality wise,but you gain smaller files, less SD cards, great speeds with lesser (and cheaper) SD cards. These are not small things, while with faster, more expensive cards, 200Mbps are achievable in NX-land. For a high end consumer camera like the ones NX1 competed back then, to get 2 64GB cards, in the price of one faster one, is already a gain, also a gain in smaller hard drives, etc. When I shoot multi camera projects, it is just amazing how much space per project I save when I use 2 NX out of 4-5 camera setups. 160Mbps is very stable and great in NX1, a camera that is a little bit younger than the GH4, the issue is not H265, is the specific codec that Samsung put in the camera, which isn't very advanced by today standards. H265 is the next generation, it is made by the H264 people, I do not see them creating a codec for the next 10 years, worst than the one that created 10 years ago, that would be counter productive one could say.. -

@markr041 There is a very noticeable "tremble" in all shot, is it the stabilization system? the lack of it? Were any of the shots stabilized with a traditional way (tripod)? Also, how's the shadow/highlight manipulation? Is this the best Action cam footage I have ever seen? (I am watching in 1440p, loved the results).

@Arikhan "Geeks, enthusiasts and pixel peepers" are people that can EXPLAIN, manipulate, and work with color science. "Normal" people do understand color science, but can not express it, and that goes on since for ever, because skin color associates with survival. Like you can understand when a medicine is good for you, but in no way you can make better medicines than Bayern laboratories, because there are some "geeks, enthusiasts and cell peepers" over there to try to achieve the best in their field (or to be better at least). Color science in video is more important than ever right now, I know people that leave their editing jobs to become colorists, and are paying good money for special seminars and courses (usually in London). In European cultures, rosy cheeks, are considered healthy, green and sicky-yellow obviously are not the best, etc. I am sure there are similar patterns for people all over the world. Look at the interpretation of color in old school cartoons (and from different countries), that explains a lot, in a very simple way. Color is a very important factor in evolution terms and goes further than camera science, but camera color science is explained by that, and that is why Canon sells a ton of cameras with out any real innovation, it is just takes pleasing photos. Also, Canon and Nikon color sciences are the best in the world, it is not like you compared the best and the worst, you compared the 80-90% of the professional cameras out there, and I do prefer Nikon to be honest, but I am not really that anal about it. You should have tried with some other manufacturer probably. I use Samsung by the way. No complaints.

Dynamic is always better! But it will take some time of your trip, and you will need (a lot) more equipment. Very interesting project is going to be, my last camping trip was at 1200m, I just felt 4000m short of your peak, and my car was 20 minutes walking (slowly) from were I set camp! Even though I admire you for doing all this heavy lifting, I would try to be really light for such a travel. I do not know if there is any danger there, or is it completely safe, but I would prefer to have some more food or medicines, or an important piece of cloth with me than a full frame body and/or huge full frame 2.8 zoom lenses! Health and Safety is what I learned most in UK film school! Have you thought about using a top DJI camera, or something like the Osmo raw? They certainly are very small, and you can even mix and match a few m4/3 bodies, lenses and the such. Also, where are you going to charge? Too many days to have the appropriate batteries. Asus Zenpower 10050mAh offers me quite a few charges.

I do humble camping trips and keeping it light and easy is a nightmare. I do some walking, but nothing extreme (not even close to exotic places), and the weather here in south east Europe is rather mild (or if it is snowy like right now, we don't even go out for work!) and still I am trying to pack as less as possible. How are you going to move all this equipment on site? It can be a logistics nightmare. I usually take in one camera bag a NX3000 (this is my "crash" cam) 230gr, NX500 292gr, NX1 550gr, and 10mm 72gr / 12-24 208gr / 16-50S 622gr / 45mm 115gr. Maybe you should choose between systems, Nikon or Sony, it can be more convenient for batteries, accessories etc, these are taking space and some weight too. Also the big decision is if you really need full frame or not, that can make a huge difference in size and weight ratio.

I am sure most of the "internet specialists" around here would have stopped reading after "shoulder rig" and "5D mkII" !! These days everything is 10bit and IBIS+dual IS+Ronin+digital IS+everything! I do snob the 5Dii these days too, to be honest, and I have done a few Ronin things lately! I was talking about "a few more tripod shots" just maybe to give a little pause and change the rythm, so ever slightly, just for maybe 1/3 of a second (more) or something, and to avoid have almost everything "shaken", also a couple of "horizons" (the leveling) were unnecessary off, but in general it is a great great job. It works perfectly for your sponsor, but also artistically and technically with a simple but mature way. It is very difficult to have such a balanced result. Congrats! Aesthetically, I would rather have this kind of image than some stabilized images I have seen from some IBISs, this gives a better atmosphere in my opinion, and reminds me a bit of European Indie cinema, where the very good camera men had(have) only shoulder rigs to operate with huge film cameras. Would you mind to talk (or link) a bit about your shoulder rig? I am considering one for some time now, but I am still reflecting on the idea!

I have seen your video before. I really liked it, and I believe NX could be right for you style. NX1 is great with the 16-50S 2-2.8f, I have great results with Ronin AF with the 16-50pz lens (the cheap kit one), I haven't use the S for gimbal yet, but I am expecting much better AF. 28megapixls BSI, it also has DIS+dual IS with the lens, but it works great ONLY with very limited action, too much things going on, and behaves very erratically; very small H265 files (you mentioned that you are not going to have any hard drives with you, a few 64GB cards can last for the whole trip). Time lapses, hacked/moded firmware with extra features. NO crop in any mode (unlike other APS-C and smaller sensored cameras), and best slow motion for any cheap camera at the moment. Great EVF, OLED screen, ok audio pre amps (better than Canon at least). No overheating problems, ever. You can add a NX500 for a back up or B camera, with the amazing 10mm 3.5f fish eye is a super small combo for some "wow" shots also. In DxO measurements NX500 is at the top with 7200 as the best ASP-C sensors. With these 2 cameras, and a few lenses you are set. I don't know what lenses you need, but you can have 10-200mm (307mm equiv) APS-C native lenses options. 10mm 3.5f fish eye, 12-24 4-5.6f, 16-50 2-2.8f, 16-50pz 3.5-5.6f, 18-55 3.5-5.6f, 20-50 3.5-5.6, pancakes { 16mm 2.4f/ 20mm 2.8f/ 30mm 2f/ 45 1.8f}, 60 2.8f macro, 85 1.4f, 50-150 2.8f, 50-200 4-5.6f

Very good piece. Is it manual focus? What camera+lens have you used? This is the kind of "handheld" shoulder rig style that I like. Good job (and editing!). p.s I could see a few more tripod shots being used

It is 8bit, true, and if you add speedbooster for 650euros, and battery grip to match a dSLR battery, and all the rest, and buy full frame lenses to put on the metabones, go buy a full frame already! If I was doing photography and I wanted the full frame look (noone buys m4/3 and then wants the "APS-C" look, have you ever heard that?!) then a D750 is a much better option, with millions of cheap used Nikon lenses around. As of the m4/3 size and weight mantra, Nikon D750 dimensions: 140.5x113x78 mm, 840grams and GH5 138.5 x 98.1 x 87.4 mm and 725gr. Add the Speedbooster, the battery grip, and you are exceeding a -not very small- classic dSLR body by much. The power of GH5 is in video, not in photos, even though the 6K burst mode is interesting (and probably the future), "The company eventually plans to release future models with 8K, 32-megapixel capture in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.", that will be really interesting, and it fits perfectly their 3 years product circle that the industry tends to, and also give m4/3 the kiss of life, until then, APS-C could have reach 3-4 stops better high ISO though, and more than 32Megapixels natively, NX is 28 for 3 years now..

LS300 is a proper video camera, not a photo/video hybrid. I would say it is very cheap for what it is, and it was 2500$ in B&H just before New Year's Eve. All the cameras are still relevant, if they do what you want to do, or are able to do. How many works do you deliver in 4K per year? (I haven't not even one yet)

@Neumann Films I haven't heard anything about the 12-60mm 2.8-4f . Do you have an opinion about it? It seems like the best kit so far, and worth the 2500euros. 5 years warranty is amazing! Is that for all European re-sellers? In Oceania I think they offer the Log for free..

@dahlfors Depending the system, one can have the Canon M5 and the 22mm pancake and done. or the NX500 and the 30mm 2f pancake and done, e.t.c I have a NX3000 with the 30mm/10mm fisheye and its a great pocket camera with 20mgpxls ASP-C sensor. NX500+45mm and NX1+16-50S and I do not even change any lenses, ever (almost). @Arikhan I previously joked with @josdr 's comment, because when I bought the aforementioned Fuji my friends were making fun of me that I bought a pink camera. I didn't proposed that obviously. a6xx Sony is not at all like a7r. Have you seen a6000 and a7rII together? Have you hold them and use them?

That's what I said when I used (I still have it, together with the 6500fd bridge) this Fuji Z5fd in Raspberry Red, but people were telling me it's pink. Go figure..
