    Nikon Z6 RAW

Same here. It could be a clear upgrade to my photography as well. I still use my NX system for photos but I wouldn't mind some kind of upgrade in 2020. Sorry if I sound too ignorant, but is there an option to adapt EF to Nikon Z? What is the photo AF consensus? Canon - Sony and Nikon 3rd? Because 3rd is not good enough in 2020..
  2. For motorsports, ΤT isle of man Closer to the edge and Senna are completely different but brilliant.
  3. Amazin! That happens in other OS and devices for years, or decades now! Good job Apple. Surface Go even does small projects on Resolve with ease.
  4. What switcher? What connections and how'd you recorded?
  5. Have no clue, but I am interested of how you are going to live cut? I am searching for a similar setup for future events.
  6. That is 4450€ for the 6K S35 and 4600€ forthe 6K FF one. That is not bad at all, but one has to take a leap of faith, as the footage is scarce and not impressive, still needs a lot of rigging and the cameras - all of them - are not battle tested at all, so we do not really know what to expect from a 4500€ tool. And what about raw?
  7. Oh, we did say; ergonomics, menu system, touch interface, battery life and heat dissipation were industry best until recently, and still are in some of them. Also the 70minutes continuous recording was a first at the time. I have used the NX1 cameras for hours in the warmest (and saltiest) Mediterranean conditions. Not even a hiccough. Ever. Enjoy your NX combo. I am sure it will set some standards for you.
  8. Wow! You practically got the body for free. I am not familiar with the issue, it could be laser damage as it is quite common in recent years, but the laser damage I have seen is substantial (the camera is unusable after the damage). Resolve accepts the files natively for me. What do you think of the combo? NX1 is starting to show its age,but the 16-50S is still unbeatable (similar Fuji is NO IS and doesn't start from 2f). In general, I found it almost a tier better in photography vs m43 cameras (28megapixels give some croping options also), and good enough for most low budget jobs for video with very cheap media and controlled disk space (good for performances and long videos). Battery life (from 4 years old batteries) is amazing also, I recorded a 2hours play some weeks ago with just 1 battery per camera. For photo work it is even better.
  9. 1)most of the pros I know here bought a GH5. 2) a lot of production conpanies bought 2-4 GH5 for very low budget jobs and multicamera systems 3) most of those bought a P4K or more. 4) I have never seen a GH5S The GH5 is 1599€-1699€ and 1999€ on the main chains. GH5S is 1999€ to 2399 and 2499 in main chains. Where do you see 1000 and 1500£? Usually profesionals and companies do not buy grey markeyt products, because we need the official warranty and tax and VAT reasons.

    Panasonic GH6

    That is terrible.
  11. That has nothing to do with cameras though, especially specs and pricing. Japan's debt to GDP ratio is the worst in the world, by the way, 246%. Probably that means that Japanese are not as amazing as we believe them to be. Maybe Australians (40%) and Chinese (17% but it can be substantial more in reality) they get what people want. Definitely has something to do with leadership though. It took Nikon and Fuji ages to realize the potential of video on modern cameras, and in just 1 generation (Nikon Z) and 2 (XT-3) they are doing it right. Sony did experiment for 3 generations until delivered the A7iii that decidely turned the odds in favor of Sony. Canon did great with the first and a half generation of their C cameras, and they stayed there!
  12. I am holding to my P4K acquire since last year, hoping for something better, holding for something more. Never happened. I am amazed that noone is getting what the market really wants, except BM and Z.. This camera in no way interests me at all. If I wanted a hybrid camera there are seriously better propositions in the market at the moment.
  13. Cinematography dreams can only be expensive!
  14. I am really curious about this, but I definitely do not need a full frame video camera, I do not even for pro photo work. The L mount doesn't seem like a strong mount for video so far. I wonder what the specs and the pricing and the form factor would be. Definitely the pressure from P4K and Z sales really affect the industry, and this L camera has to be responded by Canon/Sony somehow. Imagine that Canon has the XC15 and then the next one is the C100mkII! There is like a huge gap in between, with both these cameras needed a replacement a year or two ago, but, do they even have a replacement on track? And where is this new Sony?
  15. https://edelkrone.com/products/pocketrig-2 There is this as well. I was tempted for some time, but I build a normal Fotga at the end.
  16. Also, they have to differentiate from smaller sensors. When mobile phones get great 1" sensors, bigger companies will push for full frame and medium format. APS-C will be the m43 of the future. As the latest releases indicate, full frame cameras can be made cheap. It is not about the sensor size anymore, it is more about features and extra features!
  17. Depends..the BM sitiation is great, but not amazing. For pro work other factors are important too. Ergonomics, rigging, ease of use, media, codecs, internal ND, XLR, timecode (which I do not expect to see at this price point anyway), fast turnarounds, maybe IBIS and AF too (which I am avoiding so far but can be helpful). It is different to shoot your personal artistic projects, and a lot different to give footage to a client just after you shoot it, or deliver a final project on 2 days. That is why one of the most succesful cameras ever were the C100 cameras, still in use today. You could shoot something and be instantly ready for delivery. Now, if you shoot a short film per year, even renting an Alexa can be cheaper than own your own camera. Even if that camera is as cheap as the P4K is.
  18. I shoot 4-5.6f S35. Most DoP I have ever worked were shot at 4-5.6f also, and I am talking since film days. Usually we were (and still) achieving separation through tele lenses. It is a lot different to shoot 2.8f 24mm and 4f 135mm. Depending the lens, some need to stepped down a bit to perform best anyway.
  19. Saw that. Impressive, but 999$ for a gadget that will be surprassed with anyone's next release is a bit too much. And internal memory only??!! (Am I right? Does this have only internal memory? And just 19GB?). Internal battery too. I got the Insta X 360 and is good to play with. This market is just in its infancy so I am not in the hurry to spend big money yet.
  20. Great read @Andrew Reid To be fair, what P4K does right now to the industry, is kind of the second revolution, because back then the 5DmkII did something that was unheard before, but still was a very expensive camera for the masses. The P4K offers the sun and the moon for significantly less (the inflation calculator gives me something to 3300-3500$ today's money for the Canon), even a teenager can save for the P4K, or a couple of them even.. This is a very significant release with a lot of modern comforts.
  21. I am using the Olympus 12-100mm 4f on so many jobs the last couple of years (just finished a prime time talk show comedy scetch with 3 GH5 and 3 such lenses) that I am seriously past all that thin DoF madness. I was never into it anyway, but now I am past S35 also! For specific applications a couple, or three, logically priced primes are more than enough.
  22. I hope this is the one I was waiting for!? A video (internal NDs) GH5S would be enough for me. The optional sound accessory that exists already is good enough for serious sound. I am using that all the time, is super ok (and not cheap!). A robust 10bit codec could be better than raw for most jobs. P4K and Z are eating sales from all the major brands, can not believe all these powerful brands will leave such a promising and upcoming market to the indies. They have to answear somehow. The 5DmkII and GH crowds have matured and need more video specific equipment, a hybrid will always be a compromise of some kind (usually for video) and the camcorders of yesteryears are old news already (with the exception of LS300, but the form factor wasn't confirming for modern interchangeable lenses use). I am wondering for so many years now, why Canon didn't evolve the XC series, and even intermix it with the C series and give us a new C100 of the new age? Their product line at the moment indicates that they will never do that, but Fuji and Panasonic can do. Obviously Panasonic is the more experienced video company between the two, so it is only logical to be the first to give us what we want!
  23. that is why I linked that report. There were others supporting the Westerner's approach and others that supported China's 100%. The truth is always somewhere in the middle. There are issues with China's influence in Africa too. In reality they favor countries rich in resources they need, some of the things they build are of very bad quality, they bring a lot of Chinese workers so they do not help the local population with specialization or jobs, e.t.c Of course the colonial period is not easily to be forgotten, so China is a more preferable economic ally anyway.
  24. When Chinese workers worked for 1-2-3$ per day building our 900$ iPhones, they were golden, now that they can produce on their own they are a national security risk! Here, there is a Chinese doctor (not even company or anything) that had bought 100-150 appartments in my area (for AirBnB) and have risen the rent prices at least 10-20% on his own. People underestimate the monetery power of China. A billion+ people's state can afford a middle class of 500-600.000.000. U.S.A has a national debt of 20 trillions $ (Japan, which is the worst per capita has 9 trillions $), China has only 5 trillions, which is around 47% of its GDP (extremely low for such a big economy, Japan has 220% and Greece 180%!). Also, China is the biggest investor in Africa which is the next big thing in population and market buying power (I mean, if you start from sub zero, you can only go up!). Also, East-South Asia! Another booming economy that is mostly controlled by China (and not only the economy..). EU also, is eying Africa and have signed hundrends of bussiness related papers with China already, and they have huge differences and taxes imposed by Trump already. Germany is huge economic power also (it used to be #1 exporter in the world, before dethroned by China a couple of years ago) with great branding "Made in Germany" and a lot of luxury and expensive items, which will be the last to be hitten by the Chinese economy. The recent singing of Mercedes with Gilly (a company that hasn't sold a single car in Europe) is self explanatory. The agreement is to Gilly to build the next Smart cars and the venture is 50-50. Not even 51% for Mercedes! Seriously, I can not see how U.S can win this war. The only advantage they have right now is the best military on the planet, and that changes fast..are they willing to take us to War World 3 before they loose their world domination? Can be, but Russia is there also, not a huge economic power but they have a lot of nuclear heads to spare.. Chernobyl tv series is kind of alarming by the way. I was young when that happened and my country was hit by the nuclear clouds. Terrible stuff, hate nuclear reactions!
