Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
Kisaha replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Smoke and mirrors?! GH5 is still the most dependable video tool for the price. You do not even have a light meter on the Z (as I learned recently!). How "was a great jump in technology at the time" when noone else can compete internally? ..and there is always the P4K.. -
I have asked this before. Is the IR pollution still an issue with this camera? Any solutions?

Thank you guys. That is a terrible ommision! I still didn't found the words on the video, but it was written in the article. -
I am definitely waiting for the version 2.0 Too many deal breakers with this one. With clear line of sight and 8 wi fi networks he does barely 25m. Most of the times there are dozens of wi fi networks. If you are buying between this one and Saramonic/Boyu, the Deity is much better ofcourse.

What do you mean "no exposure meter"? Do you need a traditional hand light meter? -
Better buy the Sony if you can afford it! It is definitely 2tiers above and it is not Rodelink big either.

1) i agree. The form factor is terrible, but not a lot different than a classic dSLR. If you wanted something like an XC15 or Z (like me) I would understand, but now?? 2) how noisy it is? It is a dual ISO sensor, 3200 is perfectly normal for this camera. I have delivered 3200 ISO and they didn't have any complain and I know people shooting 6400. 3) obviously a speedbooster is a safe bet. You can put an EF lens on this camera, you can't have a super small and light do-it-all lens like the Olympus 12-100mm 4f on a full frame camera though. It can be an advantage. 4) whatever system you buy - you buy new glass. That is not a point. I have use the camera only with EF lenses anyway, and a lot do. 5) what about the IR pollution? I haven't edit any of the footage, so I do not know.

I have some friends doing some art work with various devices+pen but not much. For our work (video editing) do not see it as being really convinient. I am having the usual setup of big heavy and expensive desktop ---> gaming laptop for editing on the go ---> I am waiting my Surface Go to arrive for viewing and data management when on the field. I truly explored all the options before I order the Surface Go (it is not particularly cheap with all the necessary accessories) but the cost to size and performance ratio was a bit too much for an ultra portable machine that could do "real" editing on the fly. So I went for 10" to 15.6" and to my main monitors. USB C connectivity was/is a certainty for me. Maybe in 5 years a Surface Pro will be sufficient for everything, but not right now. You are sacrificing too much efficience and convinience. It took me 5 minuteds for each purchase to realize that Apple was too esoteric for me.

Dziga Vartov was supported by the whole communist system doing their propagands. He had hundrends of people working under him. Same as Riefenstahl. The whole system working for them. Did my thesis about WWII, propaganda and Italian neorealism.

NPF L batteries are from 200-400gr (usually around 300) and V mount a kilo or more. Better have 2 NPF than 1 vmount for such a small camera.

I had 2 Wasabi for use with my Edelkrones and they are dead! This is so annoying..very expensive and barely had any use. Does anyone know a way to jumpstart them or anything?!! I bought a Duracell now. They seem ok..

In EU 100mW are illegal. In the allowed frequencies that we have left 50mW is the maximum. This is for health concerns, so, I wouldn't like to have multiple Tx/Rx transmitting at 100mW on me for 8 hours per day. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.totalsonic.nl/media/content/samson/Downloads/handoutfrequencies2015.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiu-dLTyd7hAhXSa1AKHUzEAKUQFjAAegQIBhAB&usg=AOvVaw3ngcrOm3cPYenTNscVTN0R By the way, something simar of what I was talking about and the car example I gave (line of sight for higher frequencies). "The 2.4 GHz band is increasingly congested with various systems including WiFi (also referred to as Wireless LAN, wireless networks, 802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth and 'leakage' from microwave ovens. The 6 GHz band has problems of range (requires line of sight) due to the extremely short transmission carrier wavelengths."

The XC has a brilliant design. It is a mini C100. The old handycam design is what it is obsolete in my mind. I really loved the JVC LS300 but I didn't like the form factor. The C100 is amazing hand held. I would kill one of you, to have a P4K with the XC form factor! Have you ever seen a FS5?? The problem with the XC, and everything that Canon sells, was the price obviously. It was way overpriced! Imagine what a hit a 4K C100mkiii could have been with the right price, but no. Canon put a raw lite there and the codecs of the hypothetical C100mkIII, called it C200, amd priced it to compete against the FS7mkII!! Great strategy..

..and the F6 created some buzz also. But we all know we are not getting a Scorpio, and definitely not a Nova! Maybe I could get an F6 if the price is right, but at the moment I am not going more high end than my Zoom F8.

"Samsung said it's 8 years in development". It seems to me like they started a couple of years ago and they rushed it to be the first, just for the history books. Terrible product. They just sold 2000 and some are already broke.

Do you realize there is an Ursa Mini Pro ver. 2 just been out?

I do not know the specifics, but in Sound 101, I remember we were saying the higher the frequency, the easier is to physical cut it off. An extreme example. If you hear a boom box in the streets of Brooklyn, the first part of the sound you hear is the bass. Lower frequency. If you never be close to the device, you can go from bass, to a muffled sound (more mid range frequencies) but never the highs. Same with approaching cars. First you hear the bass and only if the window is open (it usually is!) and the car is passing right next to you, you can hear the highs. Also, with your surround system at home. You put the woofer wherever, but your mids and twitters have to be on a specific way to be effective. The differemce between UHF ( in Mhz) and 2.4Ghz is enormous. The same person that IronFilm quoted before said something like "you need twice the power for a digital system", something along these lines. This applies to my table. All the 2.4 Ghz devices have similar characteristics. The main difference is that Deity can go up to 100mW, while the consuner ones have a lot less power. 100mW is a little too much if someone was wearing wireless for too many hours per day. I wouldn't like to have it on me for too many hours. I wouldn't worry too much if I was you though. How far would you go? Are you a pro? Maybe hire a sound man and let him/her have the equipment and the weight of the sound decisions.

This. It is incredible complicated to be a good boom op. People do not understand the complexities (physics, experience, good knowledge of lenses, high IQ, memorize lines, physical capabilities, technique, e.t.c). A good boom op can be almost 80% of your sound or more. I was (still am) mixing with the boom at times. This was a very interesting thread, then became the usual iPhone love letter, now people that do not understand sound say whatever they want, because they have a keyboard and unlimited free time. This is a forum about video creation, when a young kid comes here to gather information, what is the message? "Screw sound and buy an iPhone"? All very bad advice..

A few lines into my post I wrote "8K prosumer". For the market and the price that would be enough. We are talking for a good sized 8K camera that it "may" be 1999$ (of course we will see about that, if it is less than 2499 is a good price). My NX1 cameras has DIS (Digital Image Stabilizer) and coupled with the lenses stabilizer (Dual IS they called it) does an amazing job if you know how to handle it. Canon also is investing in this. Personally, I detaste IBIS, I prefer either tripod shots or gimbals, but I can see that is a useful feature to have anyway. Just not a decision point for me.

Have you seen the unbelievable software stabilization that Insta X one (5.7K) and other such cameras have? With 8K, it would be a lot easier to offer you 6K with incredible stabilization, and 8K without. I believe the advantages of these cameras (8K prosumer) will be that they will be offering a few tricks, and deliver in 4K or something, such stabilization, various crop modes, and some automation and "editing" tricks on the fly (like face recognition, and choose where to zoom or pan, or whatever) e.t.c

These are jobs that I give the footage to the clients, so I have no clue, sorry. Obviously the lesser numbers are the best, but in real life, I am not sure that cameras at around 15ms have any issue at all. I would like to see smaller numbers for 1080p at least, though. Check the numbers and read the intro at the dvxuser thread, they explain the methodology.

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?303559-Measuring-rolling-shutter-put-a-number-on-this-issue! my opinion is that the C200 is kinda of lost in translation. I use it many times per year because I am renting it very cheap from a friend, but if it isn t available I prefer the C100mkII for 1080p and the C300mkII for higher end projects.

Just some numbers from that thread. Their method seems to be ok and I accept the results presented there. Some are from other sources, also. a7R III 4k S35 ---- 16.0 ms (15.6-16.4) XT3 4k 60fps ------ 16.0 ms (15.6-16.0-16.3) C200 (4k=1080p) --- 16.1 ms (4k: 15.5-16.2-16.9, 1080p: 15.5-16.0-16.6) BM p4k 4k --------- 16.2 ms (official) a7III 4k 1.2x 30p - 16.7 ms (dpreview)

Both my Sennheiser 416 and Audix SCX1-C have 130dB SPL and I do not usually have any issues, but I had 3 occasions this year when using other mics (production companies equipment) 1) Boxing match with a lot of extras on a small gym 2) traditional band (a lot of brass organs and drums) playing on a very small room 3) illegal betting bras de fer match with a lot of extras on a basement.
