NAB 2019 predictions and major talking points - BMPCC 4K Pro anyone?!
Kisaha replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I am trying to connect to the multiturret.com and can't. If this has a normal price, can put on a speedbooster (they say it will), has an ND solution (they say it will have a "filter" one) and be m43 it can be an incredible indie hit. Very sensible m43 (p4k, Z, GH5/s, JVC, Sharp e.t.c) owners can not afford even the cheap semi-cine ones, and can put 3 S35 Samyangs there and have excellent results for a "normal" price. Higher end professionals won't be interested because have the money a) for an assistant b) great - very expensive - cine zooms -
NAB 2019 predictions and major talking points - BMPCC 4K Pro anyone?!

Good point about the Fotodiox, in my agonizing quest for an ND solution I didn't noticed that. Sorry if that is mentioned elsewhere, but I missed that one, how exactly that works?!! Does it have to be ON the lens, or on a rail? -
I definitely will, if it has 10bit and some kind of log, 100%! With a P4K and a Sharp 8K can have a super small setup, with 1/3 of the money the C200 costs! and you can shoot raw, 8K, multi cam - like 3 4K cams, or even more for 1080p delivery, have great in camera stabilization (which I assume the 8K will), interchangeable lenses, a lot more formats and codecs to choose from, both cameras in their most minimal rigging can be a lot smaller and lighter, e.t.c If it is close to 1999...if it is more than 2999, it can break the deal!

NAB 2019 predictions and major talking points - BMPCC 4K Pro anyone?!

yes, indeed, continuing the discussion about adapters and mounts (which has spread to a dozen topics in this forum!), E mount seems the most flexible to me at the moment, having the most native lenses, the turret, and things like that https://fotodioxpro.com/collections/lens-mount-adapters/products/eos-snye-p-fusion-ndthrtl can't stress enough how important is ND in my workflow, and how expensive Metabones are (both XL and the normal cost 820euros here, insane expensive)! Just hope the new specialized Metabones for P4K has ND built-in and do not cost more than the Pocket itself! -
Exactly, this is very exciting in my opinion, if you look past the traditional resolution thing (4K is already too much, or just right, for normal viewing, on my OLED, HDR is far more important than resolution), 8K can be a very powerful tool for many applications, having something like this in prosumer price (1999$) can significantly change the industry going on. Insta X is truly amazing, and can put on Premiere and manipulate it as you do with other footage, if you add the Kolor (GoPro) VR plug ins, then the possibilities are truly limitless, can easily mix and match footage from other sources (this is the main advantage going to your favorite NLE suite) and create something you couldn't just a year ago. I believe that this camera CAN appeal to a lot of people here, having a P4K and a Sharp can cover really anything, even multicam events .

I am not familiar with their products at all. Are they any good? -
It even says "Sharp 8K" there! The modular design is very interesting, if true.

100% The non 10 bit codec is a huge ommision for such a camera. Yesterday shot a corporate with a C200 (and some Edelkrone stuff with an 5DmkIII!) because this specific director always asks for Canon, just Canon, doesn't know a thing about specs and stuff, just the brand, Canon. I felt compromised!

I do not want to be convinced!

Great Dave! do not know about the dance, but yeah, pretty cool in general! Do you have any sense about over heating, or not, and recording times? a camera that great, on such an early production cycle it's just brilliant. If it is close to 1.999$ and has some sort of Insta One X stabilization (in 4 or 6K) and 10bit log, then it can be something! I love the form factor!

For powering, 1) https://cvp.com/product/hawk-woods-dv-bm4-power-adaptor Hawkwoods is a well known company that I use for powering my sound equipment with NPF batteries. They are very well build, and never failed me on the field (as of, yet!). Also, I would prefer to have a Canon battery inside just in case, and for hot-swap, something the battery grip doesn't allow. 2) https://cvp.com/product/idx_sl-f50_battery I got 2 of those recently, they are small, light, incredible built, have 4 led metering, X-tap (like a D-Tap, but from IDX!) AND usb. They is a model with bigger capacity, but this specific one drives my Focus for a whole day, doesn't add too much weight - 250gr while a same size and capacity lesser (but very good, got it for 5 years and still works very good) brand, weights 280, and the SL - F70 (9.900mAh) is 350gr. If I was going full in, I would go https://cvp.com/product/hawk-woods-dv-f990-sony-np-f-battery 10.200mAh for 300gr On another note, I am wondering, why can't we have something like this? https://fotodioxpro.com/collections/lens-mount-adapters/products/eos-snye-p-fusion-ndthrtl The ND issue is the most important for me, and really puzzles me. vNDs in front of the lens are not so practical, and still to find a very good one (my next try will be https://breakthrough.photography/products/x4-neutral-density?variant=30850760209 but the customs/taxes/VAT for Europe almost doubles the price). This is a very pressing issue, and believe will be the turning point in the history of video cameras. Imagine a P4K with a build-in ND, or e-ND, that would end all conversations. Right now people in forums arguing about no NDs (and right so), and the fact that it has only 1 mini-XLR (some people just can't be pleased).

There are at least 3 persons in this forum that can convince you that a) noone needs it b) it is a feature/advantage!

NAB 2019 predictions and major talking points - BMPCC 4K Pro anyone?!
Kisaha replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I am trying to determine what camera/system would be best for me, going on. I recently decided to go with the P4K and I see what the future brings next, in terms of the new mirrorless systems that announced almost every month! I have a specific opinion about Sony products (always something is lacking, bad to terrible ergonomics and menu systems, color science a bit off e.t.c) but I have to admit that right now they have the most complete ecosystem for hybrid and video shooters. I was dreaming something like an a7000/a7siii/fs5iii combo, but as none of those are available, I will go P4K, and wait for my hybrid system. NX1/NX500 with their lens3s still hold their own (and I have 4 of them!). -

This is kind of brilliant! Having 3 primes there cuts the cost significantly, instead of a good cine/broadcast zoom! Having a wide 14-16mm, an 28-35mm and an 85mm there should be enough for most uses, and could possibly undercut a similar zoom for maybe 10-15.000€ or even more! Wish it was speedboosted for the P4K.. -
Haha! M1 is my next one, and NT-SF1 the next next! I already have the Sennheiser 440 and the AT 4025 (unbelievable for the price and for atmos) and I had 2 Audixes for stereo arrangements, but I just sold 1 to fund the CS-M1 buy! The F6 seems amazing for sound effects and designers. I am not sure, but I may "have" to buy one of those also!
-
I would stick to my UWPs for now. There is a certain delay, the specific frequencies are getting really crowded, not battle tested yet, build in battery e.t.c Also, "There’s no release date for Deity Connect, yet. However if you want to be notified first, you can sign up"
-
Probably they didn't want to hurt F8n sales, but pragmatically, they should have gone for an even better and more ptofessional design. A better and more expensive flagship device. The new F1 and F6 design isn't to my liking either. The real question is how the clients/production houses will see something like this, what is really the workflow? Usually they want to do as little as possible with sound, it won't be easy to add them an additional step!

Who is Antony?! Is it Solaris - Polaris or Dolaris?!

Seems like the old 9 points AF and the well known 24mgpxls sensor. Where is this stands in their line up? Mid to low?

F8 is extremely small and light, and seems and feels more sturdy/rough than the mixpres. To be honest, sometimes I feel the F8 is too small! Mixpre is an ergonomic nightmare, the button/selector at the right is very incovinient for bag work, the touch screen is tiny and can't press anything right with my fingers! I have added the Spanish 3D printed knobs to make them slightly bigger. Haha! Seems to work fine! "Overkill" in terms of audio quality, maybe it will render the F4 obsolete..do not know, I have to see the official facts/specs first!
