  1. Oh my! I hated that camera! Worst ergonomics ever, questionable build quality. Great slow mo machine. All the people I knew owned one have moved on for years now.
  2. I am going from NAB to NAB, and IBC to IBC! I am reluctant to go FS5 when the P4K is 1450€. E-ND is amazing, but do not worth the price difference I guess.
  3. @Anaconda_ I prefer the bigger bodies, but not when they offer less recording options for a lot more money. You can build up a smaller camera, but you can not shrink a big one! What P4K, EZ and the hybrids brought to the table this last year, is truly exrraordinary. FS, C and the such cameras they have to up their game for the amount of money they ask for! For the business I do (I am mostly a sound man in the industry), I considered a 5000€ budget for my new camera. I am in the market for one since 2018. What are my options? Should I go to 7 and 8 and 9.000, or just go under that? The logical thing to do is go under and spend the rest of the money on more lenses!
  4. What external recorder is the best to go with an FS5mkII? The P4K is not being available yet, and I have to explore other option. The FS5ii with the "cine" 18-110mm is a good and "cheap" dependable option.
  5. @leslie i am trying to take no side in this, just mentioned some moves I see worldwide! That ALL of my good friends and family in the UK (a few dozen people) are worrying and do not feel comfortable with Brexit is just an udisputed fact. There are 2 other facts, Everyone has a different God it seems, and they are willing to murder for their own beliefs and NZ is the best place to be! Going to watch The Orville, at least that is a better future that Star Trek Discovery!
  6. My bad, but you know what I mean. Also, with such capable hybrids, new mount lenses with video in mind (both Canon and Nikon clearly stated that when introduced their new mounts) and the extra "bonus" of taking incredible stills, will steal a lot from the dedicated video cameras sales (we can include the P4K here also!).
  7. Οκ. So one needs the Regain/Metabones/Viltrox M1. So one zoom, changing the adapters, could practically become 3 different ones. That is not a bad option to have, considering how cheap the Regain/Viltrox adapters are. I mean, I already have bought the Regain without even having the camera yet! I am in the market for a camera system since Samsung abandoned us. I am seriously considering my options here, and I seriously can not justify paying FS5/FS7/C200/C300/EVA/UMP money, when the Pocket offers all that I need for a portion of the cost. My only issue with all these smaller cameras is the internal ND of course, but should I pay 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7 times the money for the convenience of i-ND and 1 or 2 more advantages? With the likes of P4K/X-T3/GH5S/Z6 a dedicated video camera as a solution seems less appealing to me. The price is not justifiable anymore. The market is changing so quickly now.. Just thinking out loud now!
  8. FYI this is exactly the same design and probably built, of an older Ikan/Chinese manufactured monitor that was notorious for its bad build quality. Check the users reviews around the net, and actually a very good friend owned one (the Ikan model was close to 450€ here) but one could found the oroginal from China for 250€, which it was an unbelievable bargain back then (not a lot of 5"-ish options). It seems to me like the same construction with a different panel. It can be much better than the older one of course. Also, SmallHD Focus, half the weight and much smaller than the Shinobi!
  9. I know I am not @BTM_Pix but I used to study, work, live in UK and the last couple of weeks I have been talking to a lot of my friends there. In Scotland they choose UK already. Do not let that fool you. They choose to hide behind London, like they do for hundreds of years. Of course our friends and family (I have many people in Glasgow and Edinburgh!) feel terrible about that, but that is the case. The invetible and so human time for war is coming! The alliances are forming for the re-arrangement of resources and grab landing. There is already one axis taking form with Russia-Turkey and Iran (which are ranked at about 2nd ,6th and 12th at war power rankings!), with China and India as the undecided factors and the power to change the course of war on their own - countries where were non factors in the previous world wars, mind you. Already UK is deploying their new plane carrier, and the ministry of defence declared the new strategic role of the Kingdom (kings and queens, same as it was thousands of years ago!) that will be more energetic around the world. They are strategically positioned in the far west of Europe, on an "easily" defended island, with the friendly US (still #1 in military power and resources) on the other side of the sea. Imagine how Poland feels squeezed between Russia and Germany for the most part of their history! Or south east Balkans that are invaded since ever (even Homo Sapiens invaded from there!). Financialy, it will be difficult in the beginning but after a few years, and when the UK have trade agreements with everyone it will be just business as usual. Until that happened, UK will loose a significant percentage of its GDP, which it will go to, mainly, Germany and other EU countries. Benelux countries with their free trade tradition will be benefited as well. Immigration is the other main issue. The rise of nationalism and far right powers (with xenophobic and fascist parties being in the parliaments, or even the government s of nations) lead to isolation and even more tension between countries. Trump declared US in emergency because he wants to build a wall, and needs a half dozen billions to do so! and some EU countries consider Russia a better example of a form of government. Brexit is the beginning of the cancelation of EU, and when that happened, it will be certain war. France already called back their chief diplomat from Italy, an unheard reaction to a stupid action of the far right/xebophobic Italian government, from 2 countries that traditionally have nothing to fight for. Syria and the middle east/Ukrain vs Russia/Caucasus/China vs the rest in the archipelago/India vs Pakistan/India vs China/Turkish nationalism from China (Oygours) to Germany (millions of Turkish there)/extreme and violent religious acts are some of the sparks that can ignite a world war right now. In 5 years there will be more.
  10. Is the Metabones noticeably sharper? Maybe the best solution is to have all of 3 options (Regain-Metabones-dumb adapter) for various circumstances, which is a plus - for having the options and a minus - especially for people like me that detest adaptors.
  11. Reading through this, I am just amazed of how many unbelievable excuses people make to justify Canon limitations. Things that are an industry standard for years are thrown out of the window, and people still trying to reason through this. My 4 year APS-C mirrorless have no crop whatsoever, with 73min continues video recording and no overheating, and when the tiny NX500 was out in 2015, the special press and forums "destroyed" the camera because of its 4K crop..now abysmsl crop is some kind of feature...
  12. You call Nikon Z features limitations, then you bring a 8.500€ video camera into the conversation with Raw lite, which a few lines above you called an unnecessary feature for the Nikon, and apparently lighter codecs than all the aforementioned full frame cameras. You are definitely not a Vulcan!
  13. Funny to mention all these analogies. I started all the Star Trek serieses again since the summer. I am now at - mid - 2nd season of Voyager. What a disappointment the new Enterprise is..Canon offers too little, Enterprise tries to offer too much.
  14. Now with Brexit at the gates, I am searching for alternatives to my favorite shops. I already buy sound equipment from Audiosense.be/BoyzNoyz.NL/Thomann.de but I am not familiar with video and pc equipment shops. If you have anyone to suggest, please feel free!
  15. Why the OLED color ---> ON? Do you know its significance? This is something that I never use.
  16. and probably the best selling cameras of 2019 (a6400 for crop and Canon RP for full frame mirrorless).
  17. Fujifilm X-T3 crop factor: Sensor diagonal = 28.21 mm Crop factor = 43.27 : 28.21= 1.53 This is the true form factor.
  18. These are older BMD products, they work fine with P4K.
  19. The guy doesn't want to invest. Wants the cheapest possible camera (less than 500$) to match with an 70-200 (which is a quite limiting lens). Selling the lens, can buy a whole M system (camera, 2 zoom lenses from 15-250mm plus a great tiny pancake in the 22mm) which will be more portable and usable than an ancient full frame camera with a huge 70-200 in the end, and will have great modern AF, and the usual Canon advantages.
  20. All modern mirrorless cameras are "ideal" for travels, especially with the modern 24-105mm and high ISO capabilities and less/no crop (even my NX have less crop), why is this special?
  21. We all know it is not the same. I am pro-native lenses anyway and the 70-200 will be a huge and heavy 105-300 on a croped camera. Also, he is just looking for something ultra cheap, when do you think he will be able to buy another and more expensive camera? In 15 years?! He can sell the lens, and with the money buy the M50+15-45mm+55-250mm+the 22mm pancake, and is set!
  22. A7ii is not that old, and I suggested to the op to sell the 70-200 for something even more modern. Selling the lens offers the money to buy an M50 the kit lens, and probably 1-2 more M lenses. But if he/she specifically wants to use that lens, then it definitely needs a full frame camera, because it is a full frame lens, and we all know how it goes. Personally, doing mostly video, my sweet spot is APS-C/S35.
  23. So? There will be 140 to 150.000.000 lenses to play with! Add dozens of millions from other manufacturers, and we are talking for hundreds of millions of EF lenses! The number must be really staggering! Like @BTM_Pix mentioned before, do not see Canon, or anyone at that matter, reach these numbers ever again.
  24. Α7ii with an adapter? Or the new RF Canon? Or sell the 70-200 and buy something more modern. All the older 5DmkII I have used through the years at some point they had sensor issues (dead/stuck pixe, or worstl). I would be very careful with such an old camera, 3 or 4 generations behind these times.
  25. It is a good and cheap solution, even better than the ones presented here, but.. ..I was reffering to Rode Video series mics, great when first produced, but there are many solutions for in camera cold shoe mics these days, with unique, or better, characteristics.
