do not worry, I usually bite too! Just did actually!

Funny you mentioned it, I was just reading that we will have a huge Banksy expo in my city. Sorry for interfering, but this is one of the greatest films of the century! This is really a mockumentary, the character is created by Banksy himself and mocks the whole artistic world and the "gallery" driven artistic market. He was creating the whole project a few years before release, gossips/articles/art/websites e.t.c How shallow is the DOF on this film, by the way?!?

Yes, but they are really competing with Zaxcom and Lectrosonics, which cost to the thousands, not as much as the G series. Hybrid systems bring the advantages of both worlds, while only analog (G series, older Lectros e.t.c) and only digital (2.XGhz) have some shortcomings. The industry moves to fully digital though. Where are you from? What is the difference? In Europe is just mininal at total numbers (between 5%-10% depending where you shop).

This couldn't be further than the truth though. I still buy Samsung (I still have 4 NX cameras, go figure!), but the latest developments have shrunk, or completely eliminated the Samsung advantage. Go give it a read foe the details.

For their intended use and budget these are not problems. They are 8mV only, they are not build for very demanding applications anyway, but for a short distance, they will be fine. Presentations, young musicians, lecturers, prosumer/consumer interviews. There are a lot of competing systems at 2.4GhZ, and the new Aputure/Deity (is not out yet) will be at least twice the price, have in-build battery and work at the 2.4GhZ spectrum. The AVX - which is double the price, work on 2.5GhZ and use 256 decryption (which creates a significant lag in recording also) and take batteries, althought special ones that cost significant money. Pretty cool for most cases and cameramen not wanting to spend much time (and money) for sound. A more appropriate buy for this forum's target group. I saw a picture of one of those open, and they have one of those cylindrical batteries that gimbals have, nothing really special, seems like very easy to replace, and buy. The Sony ones are a much better buy than the G3/G4, they are the ones pushing the G series down in price. If the G series have no issue with the signal, can be effective for a huge distance, but usually have issues with interference. I have stopped using them completely for a few years, now.

I thought this wasn't about equipment?!? Shallow DOF is overused thought, that is for sure. If you shoot home videos and you are buying 0.95f lenses, and considering the artistic possibilities of an afternoon shoot at the mall, then I say, take a chill pill, and enjoy your family! I have half a dozen modern cameras home at most times, and a few dozen lenses, and the tools I use most is a dead cheap Samsung NX3000 with the 16-50pz and mobile phones! Sometimes when I go high end, I use the NX500. I want something really small, and "average", do not want to carry my 16-50mm 2-2.8f S, or a few FD lenses. I want all the modern technology can offer to me, AUTO as much as I can, auto everything, while is the completely oppossite when I ak working. M everything, want to have total control, I want to focus what I want, when I want, how I want, but it is JOB. WORK, the rest are for hobby or entertainment reasons, so do not want to sweat and overthink things. A a6400 with the incredible stabilized 18-105mm would be also perfect for most families (even though 16mm at the wide end, are all the money for me), and a M50 with the 15-45mm (this is a X1.6 camera, mind you). I see all the "youngsters" fall for the cinematic look, and produce crap. I helped a new production company last year make a fashion show pilot for a TV station, and they were 5-6 people at their early 20s and a couple guys at their early 30s. Used a couple of GH5 with the 18-35 speedboosted and some legacy 1.2-1.4f - speedboosted, lenses! 80% of the episode was out of focus. 27minutes, and the 20 were out of focus slow motion stuff. I was puking for 5 days straight.

Yeah! Jabari! NBA is where I spend most of my - limited - free time. Also, never try to be someone else, if Jabari wants to be Harden, well, he won't!
-
I respect Bay, he is for real, I do not watch his films though. If anyone knows about NBA, is this 23 year old guy, that once was called in Sports Illustrated "the best high school player since LeBron James" and finally went no.2 in NBA draft, but his team (Milwaukee Bucks) released him (didn't even make an offer) so he went to Chicago, which he won local champions as a youngster for 20.000.000$ per year. After a month into the season Bulls are trying to find a trade partner, but they may just have to buy him out because the guy is "unplayable" in todays NBA and it seems he is destined for minimum contracts, or China - where they do not play defense anyway, Hero-ball is their game. This guy, Parker, said last year "They don't pay players to play defense." This is a trap that everyone can fall in, in every aspect of life, if you go for the money, you may loose everything in the end, while loosing yourself from the beginning. Michael Bay is great, because he does what Michael Bay do.

And it seems like a more professional device also, but the advantage of the Sennheisser is exactly that, a dead simple eco-system to operate, and free your hands in various circumstances that do not have to overthink sound. Also every part of the ecosystem is very small. It could be a huge hit with con/pro-sumers. With their latest moves Senny seems to bring pro-features to the masses, a very clever strategy if I may say.

Actually this is dead cheap! What do you think about its usability? Could be useful to have on our arsenal? I was considering adding a fully digital one, maybe the new Aputure 2ch system will do nicely. Won't be dead cheap though.

He said that most productions are shot in 4-5.6f, and that is true, so 2.8f m43 is good for S35 anyway, which is true, and S35 is STILL the industry standard. We shoot some TV shows (which do 16-20% in the ratings, which are very good numbers for our country) with GH5 and 12-100mm and noone have asked for shallower DOF, sometimes I shoot near the defraction numbers to manage to have more things in focus. Also, amateurs usually have the most complaints and needs. A super fast AF camera that sees in the dark and takes pictures and/or videos of little kids running around in dim lighted appartments birthday parties, which is the most difficult situation anyway..

Youtubers are similar to phtographers, and wedding videographers. Usually 1 guy doing stuff. Used-to-be-photographers-now-doing-video-because-is-just-so-easy-to-press-rec and youtubers and wedding videographers are producing a lot of video and they are the most common to see around because they mostly share their work through social media, and are willing to play the social media game, and they do because that is what they do. I met a few of those on a couple amateurish sets I helped the last couple of years (though, I am avoiding such places lately - such a waste of time and just a hopeless situation that drains a lot of energy for no particular reason at all). Iif they were on a real professional production would have started crying from the pressure and the lack of knowledge and incompetance. Also, noone hires a "youtuber" to be part of a crew, the industry works differently. I do not even have a social media presence (do not even have any social media account) and I am feeding a whole family, barely, but still..!!

Do not have the camera yet!

Haha! I bet most of the top 100 most important films in humam history didn't have any gimbal use at all! I do agree with you though, still can't make my Ronin S work right and that drives me crazy!
-
It s not about the gimbal either.

If it was a good alternative, it would be way overpriced also! That is Sennheiser we are talking for!

"La terra trema", or the "Bicycle thief" are "cinematic"? The John Cassavetes "Shadows"? "Benny's video" by Hanecke? "Festen" by Vinterbergh? Was "A bout de Souffle" by Godard? These are films I saw in the "cinema" the first time I saw them. This is the first time I am replying to such a thread in my many years in the industry, and forums, but in 2019, this is just a silly question as any, with no really substance at all. There are no such term, stop putting human expression inside norms and borders.

The Osmo isn't that expensive, imagine how I felt when I spend 2000€(like 2400$) for a Mavic 2 Pro + accessories. Seriously overpriced, but what are the options we have? Monopolies are always bad for the consumers, that is why there are very strict laws in EU, and this is one of the reason I support the central EU decisions, seems to me like the less corrupt and people's friendly organization in the whole world, fighting trusts and monopolies, while protecting human and customer's rights, and that is why they will be over in the next decade or so! Masses, for some reason, do not want rights, maybe it complicates their life, not to have to make and take educated and free-will decisions! The fact is, we, the westerners, will always trust a German/US/Australian company, more than a Chinese one, but the fact that DJI admitted of wrong-doing and trying to act, is an improvement, and maybe a change of stance. DJI is a huge company, leading their field, they have to start like the trend-setters they are, and not a dodgy company from somewhere far east, I believe they will, but until then, my Mavic 2 Pro was WAAAAAY overpriced! 20% off, would be something like 1200-1250$€£, and that is a fair price, while having the zoom at 1050-1100$€£. 1500$€£ just for the Mavic with 1 battery?!?! Insane!!

Very dissapointing. They obviously can not compete. They should concentrate more on the low cost colorful leatherer consumer cameras to try and make some profit. Don't know what's wrong, but in my usual "look what cameras the tourists use" Olympus seems to be rather popular, and the Olympus branch here is very active too - actually is 3rd in activity and advertising after the big 2, just do not know any pro's using Olympus cameras anynore.

I bought a gaming laptop with a 1060 6GB last year, as a middle solution for 4K editing, before I spend 4-5000€ (including a good con/pro-sumer, but not reference grade monitor) for a new workstation this, or the next year. If I need 5000€ for a good, but not very good, 4K solution, how much I will need for 8K? And how much an 8K reference monitor will cost?

I used the 16-35 with the A7iii a week ago, as B photographer (just helping a friend) and I was really impressed by the quality and speed of the combo. Amazing lens, a bit on the expensive size, but light and small and quick and great IQ. Didn't use Clear Zoom or any of this though.

that is not very scientific though, and doesn't explain much!

Do you know about the Fermi Paradox? " In 1966, Sagan and Shklovskii speculated that technological civilizations will either tend to destroy themselves within a century of developing interstellar communicative capability or master their self-destructive tendencies and survive for billion-year timescales." I believe we chose the first one.

Sunnylife in general seems to bring some color cast in most of their filters. I am reading good things about the Pgytech ones, and of course the Polar pro.
