My main job is production sound for film and video, and sound seems like a very important part of your project also.
-
@Thatguy what about sound then?
-
How old are you @Snowbro? If guns were legal in the UK, I am sure there will be more a lot more murders than now. And then when does it stop? If you have a hand gun, criminals get military automatic rifles, when you get an automatic military rifle, they get an RPG! I do not believe that is the solution, and what I learned in my life is that if you have a gun, better be ready to use it - that means to become a murderer yourself, and keep your guns away from kids!

Canon! C and/or XC line.

I have used this camera, and I believe it to be a tremendous value! Maybe the most out of a camera, ever. Consider it as a 5" raw recorder with a free camera on top! It is truly outstanding, however you see it. I do not like the form factor either though, a Canon XC has a brilliant design.

@Snowbro what is the CS/MIS thing? There is not exactly job security, you said this guy was engineer, nothing had more security than that in the 90s and 00s, I was in University studying that, specialized in the Energy department, while I was studying and working part time in video, and then the market collapsed completely, and suddenly there were too many engineers. There are only a few decades left to most of us here, either you are 30 or 60 years old. For me, I better go get stressed doing sound on a TV series or go out shooting a documentary than rot in any office or being a corporate stooge!

You know, the rest of the world seeing Anglo-Saxonic influenced countries as exactly the opposite, as making too many stupid things on a very short time and act as nothing really matters in this life, or the next, while that can be insulting for different cultures and peoples. There is even a term "anti-Americanism", that extends to extremeties from completely different cultures, while a lot of Europeans consider the "Americans" naive/clueless/cowboys, or worst. Certainly Canadians have a much better reputation around the world!

I have some inserts, and went that route in the past - especially on my own journeys - but it is not convinient for pro work. What I currently do, is having a backpack or rolley bag for personal stuff and extras (cables, some additional chargers and stuff I do not particularly need on a shooting) and a shoulder bag, or two for the shooting essentials, but lately the numbers of different bags have increased substantially! The other factor that I overlooked is the ability of some of those to go into the cabin of an airplane. I have to find something with the most interior space that fits on a cabin.

Are you positive about it? Because they are like half a price of the PolarPro?!
-
Thanks bro! Yes, I set it something like +1/-1/1, and trying to be at 4-5.6f always. So, it is PolarPro or nothing I guess..

Any experience with filters?

Black mirror is worst and worst every year. A couple of good episodes per season now. The first 2 - British - seasons were excellent. This ButterSnatch, or whatever it is called, was a waste of 100 good minutes. Truly terrible. Don't know what they were trying to achieve with all these back and forth.

@BTM_Pix I was watching the first Flying Circus episodes this weekend. Again! How's British TV these days? I remember some great shows when I was living there. Ideal, Mighty Boosh, Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, Peep show, Nighty Night, Modern Toss, Big Train, Morris, Iannucci, Partridge, so many stuff!

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
Kisaha replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
I am expecting a double digit nunber for the DR! Does anyone have any experience with the L mount? What are the pros and cons? For me, bodies come second and lenses come first. Most cameras are amazing these days (except Canon) but the rest of the ecosystem is what interests me more. I want a few (or a couple) cheap and small pancakes with one of those definitely a fish eye, a fast pro workhorse (24mm - XXmm), an UWZ, a small-ish prime for portraits, a tele (or two) and a cheap-ish all arounder zoom (18-135/18-105/18-200/something), all in all 6 to 8 lenses. Also, I would like a couple of different form factors for the bodies, a very good pro one, and a prosumer smaller one. -
Another 5 for consideration. I have a Vanguard Quovio and I am very pleased with it. This is one is not available locally though. https://www.vanguardworld.com/photo_video/alta-sky-51d-camera-backpack.html#go-sectionTop And the best Tenba https://eu.tenba.com/uk/products/shootout-backpack-32l.aspx and some Lowepro https://www.lowepro.com/us-en/pro-trekker-450-aw-lp36775-pww/ https://www.lowepro.com/us-en/protactic-bp-450-aw-ii-black-lp37177-pww/ https://www.lowepro.com/us-en/pro-runner-bp-450-aw-ii-lp36875-pww/ I guess most of the market is covered by these and the above.

This is going to be a "sleeper"(= a big hit, in my opinion) camera because it is the first full frame mirrorless of the biggest photo and video user base on the planet. For me, even spec wise, is a no go anyway, but another thing that bothered me is that the ergonomics are sub par. It seems like an afterthought of a camera to me, it is going to be surpassed - internally - very fast. Like the XH-1.

I believe the reasons are socio-political. Canada is one of the most progressive societies on the planet, so there is freedom of speech and expression, and self determination. Also it is the most "European" of the new world countries (Canada,US,NZ,AUD) so it has a bigger influence on other countries, and also is open to receive influence. I have a friend there that has done 2-3 documentaries in his whole life, and somehow he survives as a "director", with only a very limited portfolio of other paid jobs. Also, they have a lot of free time, not the wildest capitalism over there, high salaries that can afford the newest and best of equipment, they are very digital literate, a lot of Hollywood and video gaming productions and obviously match more your profile, so you fell on them all the time! I am sure there are Hindus, Chinese, Korean and Japanese with a lot more social media power, but we may never know anything about them.

Is he banned on this site, or juat taking a brake? It is funny that most people going from here, to the general audiences, like DPR and youtube posts. EosHD seems like the college of Visual Internet Debate!
-
Why is that? I am in the market for one, but honestly the Pro-mist is the only one I know.
-
it is in the public domain. It can be criticized, but personally I am referring simply to the slo mo situation. I am editing a few small pieces right now (rendering brake) for a client, and one of the videos is 98% slo mo (and the rest 2% fast forward pseudo-time lapses)! I have to do what I have to do!

@Rick_B Thank you very much for your kind words, +1 for the @KnightsFan treatment! Just an iPad Air here, mostly an Android/Windows guy, but I too trying to buy reputable products from companies with great R&D departments; plus, I was getting seriously frustrated with all the cheap (or not so cheap) monitors all these years, so when I went super small, I chose the smallest possible, and with all the benefits mentioned above (no lag also!).
-
wow! @Robert Collins !! It is 299$ in US and from the official retailer here it is 380€!! This is plain sight robbery!
-
They are expensive, but after 20 years in the job I am certain only about 2 things. Good bags and good tripods come expensive, but they certainly worth it! I bought 800€ worth of - sound - bags (mostly Orca) just before Christmas. I am still looking at them and ask, "why?"! But deep inside me I know why (cause I'm a fool!).

I am re-searching for a good quality backpack that can fit a couple of bodies, around 4 lenses, a couple of small Edelkrone stuff (they are very small!), the Mavic 2 Pro, a smallish 15" gaming laptop and a 10" tablet, and a lot of accessories. If it can fit the ronin S in there somehow, it will be a bonus (or a nesseccity, it depends). I am looking for something like this https://www.lowepro.com/us-en/pro-trekker-450-aw-lp36775-pww/ or this https://www.manfrotto.us/pro-light-camera-backpack-3n1-36-for-dslr-c100-dji-phantom If anyone has any experience or suggestion to share please feel free to do so.

I think there is something wrong with me. All the videos I see the last couple of years are in a slower motion than I experience in life. I am not sure if reality is slow, and I too fast, or I am just.. well.. slow!
