  1. I agree that the GH5S is an excellent video camera, but for my needs, it seems that I rather prefer the P4K, especially for the money, and the Resolve license. I repeat the fact that the price of the GH5S in Southern EU is almost double, and I do not care at all about its photo side.
  2. I do not care about the 120frames but it really is a pity for this camera. The crop and therefore the loss in IQ is really a shame.
  3. NX1 is a 2014 camera and its 1080p RS is close to the best in business. If you don't mind the a6300 1080p then you won't mind anything at all, all is good!
  4. Do we know the weight? Or not? What gimbal is suitable for this camera?
  5. Terrible terrible experiences with Premiere for so many years (since the late 90s with SCSI hard drives!). I would happily move to Resolve, and I hope I will, soon.

    GH5S or X-T3?

H265 is milder to SD cards. All NX1 users can atest to that!
  7. We shot a small internet project (with some very famous actors here) and we used the C200. The guy that rent us the camera had shot NOT even 1 raw project with it. I just don't get why anyone will buy half of the Canon products anymore. He also just got a 80D as a B cam. He considered an M camera, but no. Too many mounts!
  8. The official measurements are X1.5 and X1.6. It is known.
  9. What kind of events are these? Interesting to see those happen despite the political situation there. What ISO did you use for the night shots?
  10. I agree, but I haven't seen those statements either. I have worked extensively with the GH5 and I am 100% sure that P4K will have much better image, like the GH5S has already. Having the same sensor as the GH5S, a bigger monitor and a much better internal video recorder, with half the price (in my country) making it a very interesting option, don't you think?
  11. I can not identify, not even one BM fanboy here! I can see a bunch attacking the P4K for something that it isn't (a hybrid camera), some that pre-ordered and finding it an excellent and cheap solution for their needs, and some (the majority I assume, including me) that are really intrigued by this release from -used to be- a small player that can easily fit many people's workflow, but we are waiting for real world reviews and to check quality and software issues.
  12. The sensor is same with the GH5s, not the GH5. The specs (or the lack of them, e.g. IBIS, high resolution photos e.t.c) are similar with the GH5S. As I see it, the P4K is 3/4 of a monitor, a full time video recorder, and 3/4 of a video camera with a full editing solution for free. The deal is good, good enough to be an indie hit. It won't sell as much as an XT-3 or C200, but it could easily be the most successful BM camera ever, which is something. Do we know for sure that BRAW is going to be added in the future, or is it pure speculation as of now?
  13. I am not sure why everybody keep comparing it with the GH5. The obvious competitor is the GH5S, a heavily video orientated hybrid. GH5 is a slightly-video orientated hybrid and the P4K is a video camera. It is a one trick pony, but there are more people shooting and editing digital video than any other time in recent history.
  14. So we most agree that the Z cam is DOA?
  15. Thank you both for the civilized attitude, and the important info!
  16. There are also the new "smart batteries", a fraction of the size and weight of NP and V batteries.
  17. All Sony cameras until A9 and A7iii had similar issues, or worst(battery life, ergonomics). At least this one must be great with adaptors, while others werr really front heavy with an adaptor+lens. Also, 5' display is 1.8"-2" more than sny other hybrid/dSLR in the market. I see its size as an advantage, and it is not that heavy for the size. I have an NX500, and with the 30mm pancake doesn't fit many pockets.
  18. Truth is the A7iii is the best Sony hybrid. I still do not like a lot of things about it, but it is a great tool and especially now that they have reversed the lens situation. I did 3 video jobs with it early summer, dedinitely the best Sony I have used but it still is lacking in ergonomics, touch screen interface, menu etc The last few years photographers doing video jobs is the norm, I thought, why not the opposite?! @webrunner5 weddings, corporates and sorts. Raw gives you the chance to manipulate the image a lot more than other cameras in the market and one of the companies I work for (I do not own the C100 and LS300), own LS300 and GH5 (a lot of them) so it is convinient to stay in the mount. I could use adapters for my FD and M42 lenses also, and it goes to somwthing like X1.3 with a speedbooster, also the P4K is bigger than other m43, so better weighted to use with adapters.
  19. I agree mostly, but do not forget that some of us are doing some photo jobs as well. It is just a tiny percentage of my income, but I couldn't see myself without a hybrid system. In that sense the P4K is a good specialized video camera. Maybe it could replace JVC LS300/C100 cameras we use for lower tier jobs.
  20. It is between Ace and Air as people mentioned above. A basic Ace is alright for a rigged GH5, and is much less than 1000.

    GH5S or X-T3?

Is the X-T3 really comparable in low light with the GH5? Because that is not great news. If you care for a hybrid camera, X-T3 is the one. If you care more for video, then GH5S (Pocket4K is also an option for less than the Fuji). GH5S has very different color science than the GH5 (plenty of videos). I do not follow them closely, has PAnasonic released any firmware update improving color science on the GH5?
  22. It is 2499 euros here (3000 bucks almost) and that XLR thingy someone mentioned starts from 320euros. The price in difference is vast, and honestly, I do not consider the GH5s a serious photo camera. I need at least 24mgpxls to be safe on photo jobs, I do not know any professionals shooting with such a small resolution (that applies to A7s too), or that wpuld be confident using one for paid jobs. I double on the menu system. It is really terrible on most cameras, and Sony still has limited touch screen interface. For some of us those 2 count. I have worked extensively with Sony cameras through the years and I hated the experience. Does anyone know what gimbals are compatible with the Pocket4K? Especially these 2 new Moza and Zhiyun are really interesting.
  23. Do you know how many Sony a6xx/A7x/Fuji cameras with terrible battery life have been sold already? The previous one needed almost everything to be usable, this one just some batteries (I have half a dozen of those without even owning a Canon camera), plus they offer 5" touch screen monitor, dual ISO sensor (and similar in size with the competition, bigger than most m43 cameras at least), mini XLR (how great is that?), usb C, usb c SSD recording and great great user interface (second favorite after my NX!). They go head to head with the competition, and then add some more. It isn't a hybrid camera, it is a cheap video camera, if the touch AF is OK with the Olympus 12-100, can be a great run and gun camera also. IBIS? No, but none of my cameras have it now, and none of the C and F cameras (or EVA) has it, and they are the tools of choice for most of my jobs and most jobs I have been around. Plus, there is a license there for a full editing suit, that is very important for a tiny tiny business like mine, that I usually need a second editing desk for some months per year, and I hire someone to do some basic editing in my office. My next hybrid system will have amazing AF and maybe IBIS (do not really care but it is a selling point at No4 or No5), this camera doesn't need them, especially for the price. I would be waiting for real world reviews of course.
  24. I see some nostalgia here for the old pocket. It was an interesting camera and a great deal for the time, but it had dozens of issues that this new camera doesn't. This one appeals to a bigger audience and a lot of young filmmakers (the 21st century kind of) will use these cameras like 16mm/8mm cameras of the past. This one pushes the democratisation of film making a lot more than, let's say, Canon mirrorless cameras that cost more.
