Imagine if it was capable! It would be the drone to rule them all. It will be sufficient for very low budget stuff, we still use the original Mavic for some of those, for anything significantly more demanding, my approach is - hire someone with the appropriate equipment and knowledge. The next Phantom will be absolutely fantastic, really Inspire quality and features, but then the Inspire will be out of this world, with an unheard - for the quality and features - price. That's evolution, I hated the Mavic's image, the 2 will do. Now I want a 2 with a zoom camera!

Canon is always number 1, everywhere. Nikon was number 2 until very recently, and last year in Japan Nikon was no4, with Sigma being no2 from 3, and Tamron reached no3. For sure Sigma has great dynamic these last couple of years, and Tamron has some very successful ones, e.g a lot of my Canon friends prefer their stabilized 24-70 than the L one, and it is significantly cheaper too. There is a second gen. also. I am not sure that Sony was in the top 3 anywhere in the world in lens sales, ever. Until very recently, most people I know were adapting L lenses on Sony bodies, but I do not have statistics.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

Do the S lenses (by the way, the Samsung should have a copyright or 2 for S in lenses) are parfocal as well? That will really be something to consider. -
I use the GH5 on many video jobs, especially with the Olympis 12-100. Just try it first for photo before you buy, I was rather disappointed. An M5mkII could be ideal, APS-C is a great format. My NX500 is my favorite carry around camera, even though the NX1 is surprisingly small for such a camera (check the size comparison between the NX1 and the GH5 and put there your 5D for good measure, the GH5 is extremely big and heavy for a m43 camera), and coupled with the extremely small and light NX pancakes, and still the NX500 form factor camera is unbeatable for the streets. Especially in brown, you are just another hip-tourist! For IBIS, I do not know. Still not in my top 5 of camera features. I would take it for free but I wouldn't pay for it.

And now for something completely different.. NX2 could be the future, a year or 2 ago! Here, I said it!

Yes @mercer ! Even though, he won't be called "next Spielberg", and it won't matter to anyone. I recently started taking wee little photo jobs and my NX cameras are just perfect for most of those. I have plenty of photographer friends that they are doing video now, so why not the oppossite? All in all I feel more comfortable with video (19 years of a career!) but I like doing some photography now and then. Why don't you use your Canon for photos? I used a GH5 for photos in June, and the output from my NX1 was better by far. The guy that owns this GH5 rents 5DmkIII and IV (old 5DmkII owner) now for his photo jobs, completely disappointed by the performance of the GH5, and he is waiting for the new Canon mirrorless.

Sorry to hear that. How anything is stolen on an airplane? I haven't hear that before! When I did my research, I went for one of the slim Asus gaming laptops with i7 and GTX1060, but a very good friend of mine bought a Lenovo Carbon X1, which was a lot more expensive without a dedicated GPU, but an impressive machine nevertheless. If you are not absolute about Apple, then I would just spend my money on Dell/Lenovo/Asus or even HP (they have some nice ultrabooks, but the rest are lacking).

For all the hype, and time it took them to R&D their first full frame mirrorless line, having just those 3 lenses, not even 1 Noct lens (even though they advertised that a lot) and not one "compact"/"pancake"/ultra compact lens is a bit of a disappointment. They clearly state that currently won't let other manufacturers build Z lenses. The Achilles heel of Sony, became Nikon's biggest weakness!

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
Kisaha replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Interesting, didn't see that coming. Maybe it is the first time ever that Nikon takes video as seriously, and when a "hard core" photo company does that, then you know the times are a changing. @wolf33d BlackMagic Design is an Australian company. -
100% I am a tripod user (not IBIS, not anything), a few aerial (just a few, especially in intro/outro and a couple in between) and a few Edelkrone shots here and there. As of the Pocket4K remark, I am expecting to use my older cameras for most of my projects, don't see to shoot much in RAW, if any quite soon, but the 1" sensor in that form factor, is game changing.
-
This is interesting because it clearly states DJI's approach. You will pay more for the better sensor, but if you are an amateur and/or love the zoom function then buy the cheaper one. I predict a price reduction on the Zoom really soon. The 1" is just so important and wonderful!

Is it for sale in Europe? This makes me a lot more excited than the BMP4K camera. This is what we were waiting for. Is it for sale in Europe? This makes me a lot more excited than the BMP4K camera. This is what we were waiting for.

LukiLink project turns smartphones into an HDMI monitor
Kisaha replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Yeahy! I received my Lukilink recently! It is real, an actual aluminium black box. The not so good part is that it already exists, and that it doesn't do anything for me as there is no software, and 1-2 apps I tried were keep crushing before connecting. This guy says it all. Glad that I received something of course, but feel sorry for people that bought 2 or more of those, or expecting something that works. -
I own 2 NX1 and 1 NX500 cameras. I do know. I was refereeing to @sanveer's hypothetical comparison of an 1" sensor with top full frame and even m43 mirrorless cameras. I wish they have similar quality, but I am not expecting it to be true, that could potentially cannibalize higher DJI products sales also. Finally we are leaving the ultra small sensors, I would expect DJI to take (and profit gradually from it) a step at the time, and they will, as noone can beat them to innovation right now, so why to offer everything right now?
-
Don't forget the sensor size difference. It is huge! And 100mbps is still a very limited bitrate, both in H265, and even worst in H264. This is going to be a Phantom replacement, and the Phantom is moving up to more Pro use or very advanced (and rich!) amateur's. As it should be. There is no need to carry large Phantom's around with tiny sensors. That was too primitive!

The low light of the C100mkII is amazing. 4f is great. I enjoy the 18-135 as a cheap run n gun in some jobs. The 24-105 is ok. In works we either prefer the L series (ultra wide, 24-70 and 70-200) or the 18-135. The 24-105 is lost in between those, rarely used. I would love an C100mkIII (yes, the next one with touch DPAF) coupled with the 18-80 and 70-200 cheap CN-E lenses. Again, in a market full of specs and imaginery uses of them (that never occur), I admire your pragmatistic and realistic thought process.
-
I am affraid this will be back ordered for the next 16 months. The 1" of course. It will sell like hot cakes. In what mode is 10bit? And what about the bitrate?
-
Interesting design. Not been amazed so far, I usually do not like the rotating dial selector at the right and there.are a few questionable decisions. I have to hold one first. Funny that the lenses are called S. Interesting end of August we will have, plenty releases for a usually quite period.
-
C100mkII. It doesn't have a touch screen though that someone mentioned above but it is still a great camera. For most jobs I do, I prefer it to the C200 even. Its great to hear someone really knows what he wants and doesn't spend most of his life in front of spec sheets.

Actually this could be the first Fuji I would be interested about. Too early to call anything though. Still a lot of pieces to fall.

I am reading every day about Canon NOT having a mirrorless line and that is 100% NOT true. Canon is number #1 in mirrorless sales in Japan, which is a huge market, despite the less population than US and EU, and I bet they are near the top in developing countries and S.E Asian ones, where Canon branding is a certainty for decades. They have an APS mirrorless line, which still is a tremendous market (in total numbers sold) and they sell well. Now they will have a full frame mirrorless line too. Nikon had an 1" mirrorless line that failed miserably, they canceled completely their premium compact line, and they are loosing customers here and there from many players (mainly Sony and Fuji, all the Fuji owners I know are Nikon dSLR owners and users for many decades, and the less established video capabilities, while Canon/Sony/Panasonic are well known in the field of video for many decades also). Being last in announcements, will give them a lower start, but at the same time they will have - almost - all the market in front of them, and they will act accordingly (lower price, extra specs, withdrawal of a project e.t.c). They were waiting for a few years now. They can wait for a few more months if that puts them ahead of the competition (info-wise). For starters, everyone will try to cut down the percentage of Sony, there is no much intermixing of Canon/Nikon as I see it. It is a segment that Sony owns something like the 98% of the market. They can only go down from there, while Canon and Nikon will try their best to get a huge chunk of that.

Hey! Where are the NX votes?!!
-
Interesting! Completely different field? After almost 20 years of work, I am moving to other fields as well, producing high quality olive oil for starters; have some ideas about eco-tourism as well. In this very limited market having a "career" is wishful thinking, and the working conditions are getting worst every year. The last couple of years I am doing some photo jobs while I was 100% against for the bigger part of my career. NX1 being a complete hybrid was a decisive factor as well.
-
Funny to mention that. I had NX since 2013 and all these were doable since at least back then, and earlier, and they always had the best screens in business (the latest had super amoled). And after Samsung delivered NX1/NX500 and the innovative S lenses? Nothing. Everyone were buying Canon 70D !! Maybe photo and video clients are more conservative than we believe. Canon is number 1 in mirrorless sales in some countries, everyone is excited and waiting for the Nikon mirrorless.

As you mentioned before, speed is the most important factor these days. We already have editors on location for some video jobs, and I am following apps like the Bleacher Report and others, that post photos and video almost instantly these days. Anything posted a few moments AFTER the fact, is already old news! That will play a significant role in the future evolution of our work. I believe we most agree that the quality is already here, we will solve the AF war soon-ish, the next one will be the transmission of the information. I will bring my beloved NX again, even the old and primitive NX3000 I have, can upload instantly to my S9+ through wifi, I have set the transfer to change (instantly also) the 20mgpxl files to 2MP ones, which is good for social media and inside the phone storage, and I keep the original file on camera, and transfer them to a hard drive occasionally. Plus all the other stuff you can do (remote view finder/shutter/e.t.c). Let's take Nikon as an example. They failed to do that simple thing in most of their iterations, at least until recently (I haven't used one for a few years now), and that is a thing that can make or brake a relationship with a camera manufacturer. I hate have other people manipulate my images- especially in photography - but in video essentially is the only way to do it (except ultra low budget or one man band jobs), I guess that will happen in sports photography too and other fields. I know it is already a thing, but it will become the norm, sooner than later. People want info INSTANTLY, and they want photos, at least, and moving images. For the very first time in human history we have created an interconnecting network. You needed a dozen telegraphs and mostly a weekly edition to read anything in the era of our grand fathers (at least for the most matured of us!), now I am expecting to see everything online, moments after they happened, or even live.
