I would rather get the Xiaomi 4K+ for a portion of the money, and save the rest for other equipment. Yes, the 6 is the best GoPro ever, but other can make 95% of that, or better in some areas, for a percentage of the total cost. DJI can make one tomorrow, and beat GoPro easily. Some people believe that a mobile phone is good enough for most photo/video catching, some say they are good to shot a film (some in this forum!), I disagree of course, but if people consider a phone is comparable with a normal camera with a huge sensor, you get the point where the action cams stand right now. Just get a Smooth Q stabilizer for your phone, and pass it around people in lock mode, a lot cheaper, and arguably, similar quality. The magic word is 1", when everything becomes 1", then they would be comparable to a real camera and I will care more about them. People doing action activities are at its top ever, and world wide, a lot more than the 80's, 90's and the 00's were the hip thing to do was to do drugs and be wasted! I am joking, but action lifestyle and a healthy way of life became a thing the last decade, and right now, even McDonald's in UK offering "less that 400 calories" options in their menu, and organic foods are a thing (a very expensive one), while there are new extreme activities been invented, almost every month. In some countries people are given money to buy bikes to go to their jobs, and every summer there is a new thing I see people do on the beach that it doesn't even have a name! My LG has a 14mm ultra wide lens, and a 29mm one, OIS and EIS, 1.8f, 4K recording and 1080/120 and full M, by the way. Oh, and it has passed 18 military standards, so it is 810G military standard accredited — including temperature and environmental extremes, pressure, vibration, and shock, as well as salt, sand, dust, and water immersion. The C100 sensor is a classic one, I wouldn't expect the M50 to be that good (in low light performance, as well). It makes me wonder, why just not Canon implement a better codec on this camera, and keep it relevant a lot more than it is (I already used the C100mkII in 2 projects this year, GH5 and my Samsung in the rest, so C100 is still relevant, but you know what I mean). All the reviews of the 11-22mm I have read, speak about an ultra sharp lens, even wide open, I could guess if you stopped down to 5.6f that would be enough to match most primes. It is a good lens. M50 is an interesting little camera, but as Canon describe it, is an entry level M camera, so I wouldn't expect much of it. I am pretty confident that we will see more M cameras, soon, and they will be a lot more exciting. Top wish? A pro M body, a camera that can truly replace my NX1 as a hybrid with amazing ergonomics/touch screen implementation and focus.

@salim The Aputure 20 seems interesting. I haven't set my mind yet, and I need 2 of those -at least- so size and height plays some part in my decision. Power too. Guess can't have everything right now!

Seriously, great video! I consider all the action cams unacceptable for me. What I use mostly (not waterproof) is an old NX3000, an APS-C 20megapixels very very small mirrorless woth the native, tiny amd great 10mm 3.5f fish eye. The 1" Sony must be great as well, but the other option cost me less, 3 years ago, and arguably the quality is great.

General comment: The fast charging ability of the Qualcomm depends if the device is fast charging 3.0 (or 2.0). My phone\power bank/laptop/monitor has 3.0 and is a great feature, all the devices should have Quickcharge 3.0 or 4.0, a lot more useful than slow wireless charging.

what do you on these productions? From your writing I would bet that you just finished film school, or something. There are EBU standards, that include all major European networks. These are the standards we follow here in Europe.
-
Interesting. Do you have a clue if they sell them in Europe? Still not completely happy with the choices (or the price of choices!) here in Europe. Did you try the Godox we were discussing a month ago, by any chance? How loud is their fun? It is an issue for interviews.

I believe Nikon will have an active adapter offered for cheap/free. Continuity is a huge thing for them, more than anyone else, and they will deliver. I am 97% certain of this. They have produced a few patents the last couple of years of interesting stuff, and definitely they need a different, more modern mount, but with backwards compatibility. They will find a great solution I believe, and maybe that is the reason of the late arrival of that camera, but as I said earlier, maybe that will be later that it should! Also, they can go all in in video mode, they are a bit behind everyone right now (except Olympus, and Pentax, are we still consider Pentax a player?!), but they have no cine camera line to protect, and already they have delivered excellent image quality in some models. An amazing Nikon mirrorless with one of the best SOC video, will worth the, around, 3.000euros that Nikon will ask for their full frame mirrorless. Fuji asks 2300euros for a machine that most people will consider vastly inferior to a great Nikon full frame mirrorless. If the video is so so, then Sony will be a better option for true hybrid shooters in full frame, and the rest will happily stay with m43/Fuji, or move to newer, greater, EOS M cameras. Video is the battle field right now, every one is talking about AF and Video performance as top selling points. Maybe 10bit will be a mandatory spec in a couple of years, the photo quality is quite good already, but video can be improved a lot.

Sigma/Tamron/Samyang already offer AF lenses and they will produce more zooms this year. Sony E lenses are extremely expensive, and not any better than Canonikon ones, but now that other makers make cheap E lenses, the system is becoming more attractive. Even Fuji make pro video E lenses these days. That huge Canonikon base, maybe won't buy another camera, ever. I know plenty of people buying a dSLR back in the golden age, using it a couple of times, and then put them in the closet for ever. Especially now that phones are good enough for them, and admittedly easier to carry and shoot, they are not going back to any dSLR or mirrorless. It is pretty obvious that mirrorless is the future (and past and present for me, as I am using mirrorless for half a decade now), I do not see what benefit dSLRs will have in a couple of years from now. Migration to Sony will slow down, for sure, but it is already an industry standard, in many cases, there are just too many A7 cameras around, a lot of people have idolized the A7s series, the A7r series has an incredible megapixel count, and the A7 series is amazing for an entry level FULL FRAME mirrorless camera. Also, a6xxx cameras are the top sellers in every online shop for a few years now, and most of the young people starting in "business", are Sony users, and know only Sony as a "serious" camera manufacturer, so the trend is the opposite for them. A6000 has sold amazingly well in amateurs. I am just saying that it is more complicated than "huge Canon/Nikon user base", that was the case a few years ago, but just recently that has changed, and I seriously doubt Nikon will make a camera like the A7iii (spec wise) and that will cost less than 3333euros (and Sony is 2300euros here). We will see of course, but Sony IS a player, plus has access to a huge R&D department that makes also game consoles, mobile phones, most of the sensors in the market, so can get components easier than Nikon, cheaper, and have more info beforehand. Not that we have seen those in their cameras (touch screen implementation is a joke, their screens are mediocre - at least, overheating was a major issue for years, QC is questionable, Nikon/Fuji are getting better results from the same sensors, e.t.c), but still they have some advantages.

I totally agree. LT for some will be enough in an hour of crysis though, it is good to know that we may have the ability to use a common thumb stick as a recording media. As I have already mentioned, I wouldn't use anything external such as an external hard drive for work, everything with a cable is more deliquate and has a significant possibility to fail. I have a Fastcharge 3.0 that charges 85% of my phone's battery in 40 minutes, and has a 3300mAh battery. I guess could charge a camera's battery in 20minutes, if the camera has a Fastcharge 3.0 technology, which I doubt it has though. Maybe it is better to charge on an external charger on the bag, while using the camera with other(s) batteries. That is what I do now anyway, and even if I am not using the battery I am chargin, it will be ready for next day, and I charge the powerbank at night, instead.
-
Do you mean spec-wise? Are we really sure about the final speed needed? This is just a thumb drive, what are you able to write to this? Maybe some kind of ProRes, or nothing at all? there are others like these, https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/plextor-ex1-portable-ssd,4956.html but it goes to T5 territory. We are not there yet for tiny, miniature SSD, and if they exist, it will take them years to be as cheap as an SD card.

I got this one, it is really tiny and backwards compatible http://www.poweredbymushkin.com/Home/index.php/products2/item/129-swap/1320-swap-64gb-usb-3-1-type-c-flash-drive-1 (I am trying hard to get us to the next page)

Thank you! that is an excellent solution connecting my laptop to my USB C monitor, I was seriously searching for something similar on ebay the other day, but I wasn't sure how I could describe it. I hope I do not have to put my 27" monitor on top of that P4K thread, for monitoring purposes! There are surprisingly just a few options on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=USB+C+Extension+Adapter+Right+Angle&_sop=15

link it!

Maybe we can spend all that free time with friends and relatives, working on projects, gardening and the such. I will clean my aquariums for starters! But, seriously, USB C is not a pro connection, for anyone on the field it will be a gamble to use such a solution on a permanent basis, but I am sure some will, and they will be solutions to that as well, but unfortunately we can't test those, because we have no cameras on our hands! Today I was in a meeting for a new TV show, and the people there discussing buying 5 Pocket4K with the production money, and they want to start production in June! When I told them that the cameras are in "Pre Order"-status not actually on sale, they were really confused of what I meant and I sensed some hostility after my remarks! Black Magic better has some cameras ready for September, or they will be blood. My blood!
-
Ok, sorry, I bet the USB C is not the best option for professional continuous video recording! Unfortunately USB C is only a bit better than classic micro (or is it mini?!) USB connections, and those were really bad. Already some of my usb c devices act up, I wouldn't trust plug/unplug such a device a lot of times per working day, and I am dead serious. I do not see such an option as a permanent recording one. If they didn't have the option, no one would complain, and that is the Canon game!

I believe that time has passed, especially for Nikon. Sony is eating to their sales quite substantially as of late, and after many years of "disappointing" (for some, at least the ones we didn't go to Sony-land) releases, finally they are producing worthy cameras (the mkIII series has fixed most of the i and ii shortcomings, improving in color science, but still need more to do on that front, ergonomics, battery life, lenses e.t.c) and they have a complete and whole ecosystem. Canon has already a mirrorless mount and they can start building from there, and do their full frame miracle later on, and their user base is greater than Nikon anyway. Rumors say that their full frame mirrorless is already in the "wild", tested by pro photographers, if Nikon announced that their camera will be ready next spring, I bet Canon will be first to release theirs. It is a fact that Nikon produces better results with Sony sensors, they have the know-how and the color science to make amazing cameras, but the release of A7iii, A7rIII and the future A7sIII is covering the whole market, already, and a lot of people are going to move this year to Sony. It's already happening, A7iii sells quite well already, I am afraid that when Nikon is ready, the market won't be there, or at least a big portion of it. Can they rebound? I doubt it. The adapter won't be a problem, they can offer it for free, or for very little money, the adapter won't be an issue.

Never had any of those in video. Just be sure that you press the Video Mode View button (the trashcan usually) before hit record, and the Dial is a known NX issue, happening with older models too. It hasn't happened to my NX1 cameras, but to an NX300 (tragically, but is not mine anymore) and my NX500 started acting up recently, but not dramatically (yet).
-
If you use the camera everyday, then just buy a couple SD and/or a couple CF cards. I do not understand how suddenly recording on an external USB C drive became mandatory workflow, and puzzles us for 4 pages! It offers another option, it doesn't mean that replaces other media completely.
-
There are also magnetic ones on the one side. You just unplug the cable, not the plug, and they stick back magnetically. I have one cable permanent on a charger and an iPad, usb c, usb micro magnetic plugs (I am not sure about the terminology) on specific devices. I am not sure if this is suitable for high data rate though.
-
It has SD, CF AND usb-c, which none other has. It records internal raw and various ProRes. I see no issues here, only options, and no external recorders/monitors needed (but I will be really happy to use my Focus on this one).

I know/I did! Everything is life choices, I maybe do not have a "career" in UK anymore (or anywhere, for that matter) but I have a family and a few properties to choose for my holidays!

GH5S is not just a GH camera. In all the reviews and tests we have posted here it has the best color science of them all.

The world is an unequal place! 2015 numbers. 0 - 25.000euros 88.3% 25 - 42.000euros 8.4% < 42.000euros 3.4%, but 7/10 have their own house/apartment(/home) and 32.8% owns a secondary property (highest percentage in Europe).

hahaha! where are you living? With 150K per year here, you could buy a nice little house on a different Mediterranean island per year! and in Vietnam you could buy a - not that small - village.
