  2. Actually my wife call-ed me to tell me that she had to go to the hospital, and my phone was off, and I was working 800 Khm away on a mountain! Thankfully, I went straight from mountain to hospital at 4 o'clock in the morning (managed to finish the job as well, because it was a 6 person's crew and I was the camera operator), and everything went fine, but I maybe have to keep my phone on next time! There are some times, that things are more important than a scene, I believe that 100% of the professionals can be excused on those, but sending viber messages to your boy/girl friend about last night's pizza, or browsing FB, or playing the Walking Dead, then no excuse at all!

I could talk theoretically about rocket science, but I have never use, or made one, so there is a 00,00001% of the demographics know more than me, does that make their opinion less valuable than mine? I am not trying to convince them that they do not know how to make a rocket on their forums and I still have a university background (4 years full time Bachelor degree, didn't finish the last year) and real work experience in engineering and internal combustion engines. Samsung owned more than the 00,1% of the mirrorless sales, at least in the years they were active. Do not forget that we are talking for 2010-2015. High used prices saw that there still is interest while most cameras of that time (NX1 was 2014, NX500 2015) can be had for nothing at all. The NX line was the pet project of the owner, then the old man died, and his son decided that its better to earn billions through mobile phones, than loosing millions on a saturated market, with too many players, for too few customers. I didn't like it, but I believe they made the right decision. The reality is that I am sticking to those cameras for at least a year or 2 more. They are complete hybrid cameras, with nothing lacking, until I saw the complete transformation and stabilization of the market, and until I see Canonikon unfold their cards. Battery consumption and no overheating? check. 73min continuous video recording? check. H265? check. Best 100/120f footage in APS-C land? check. Best workhorse APS-C lens (awarder by DPR at that year, when Samsung was dead) 16-50mm with amazing stabilization and 2f-2.8f (not even Fuji has one, not 2f, not stabilized, and 30% more of the price) check. Normal to low prices in everything? check. Many, good and cheap pancakes? check. 4KDCI, whatever? check. mod/hack scene with things, apps, advanced bitrates that Panasonic and others implemented on their latest cameras? check. Still highest megapixel count in the industry? check. Still best ergonomics in business? check. Menu system? check. Best touch screen OS, simplest and most comprehend able even for new users? check. Build quality? (the GH5 we were using yesterday, in 8 months they are starting to loose their skin and some buttons already are not working properly) Check. Color science? Check. FilmConvert compatible? check. DIS+OIS = Dual I.S? check. Super Amoled touch screens? Check. Cheap and common media use? Check. and I can go on and on for some more time. and I have full working experience with most of the cameras in the market, the kind of experience that if you fail, you do not eat or provide to your family, so I am pretty sure about my statements above. If you take things from this camera, and that camera, yes, they are differences, especially today, in 2018, but if you are trying to build a wholesome camera, NX1 is still near the top. Now, I would like to have the 10 bit of GH5? yes. The ISO performance of A7sII? yes. Ok, it doesn't have those, but it has all the rest, and I can live with no 10bit, when my most used camera of the last few years is the C100mkII, and I can live with fast lenses and 1600ISO, when the first 15 years of my career, 1600ISO was unheard!
  5. Can anyone with more experience comment on the skin colors, being different in almost every shot? Is this a grading thing? This summer I have some gigs booked and I will be using this camera and the A7sII, until then I would like to know how to shoot for skin colors, and what are the similarities and differences between those 2 Sonys. If anyone owns, have used both cameras, please comment.
  6. I started working with a lot of old school types in the late 90's, and the set was a holy place. We had the same conversation yesterday, when phone calls started to ruin our takes, when all the young presenters of the TV show we were making started to receive phone calls. Most of them were related to the show, but nothing we could do while in an island a lot of hours by ship from our base and finally it cost-ed our lunch brake, which it was an issue for us, the technicians, that had left our home at 5 o'clock in the morning. When we work in short/feature film there is a no phone policy, and pro people immediately understand this, but younger people just starting in business, it is difficult for them to comprehend. As a sound man, most of the times I impose this policy to myself, because I have to show people that phones can't be used while filming, also it can be problematic for microphones or wireless systems on set. I do a lot of in-car sound gathering, and mobile phone waves on a car work exactly like a wicro wave oven, and creates huge problems with sound. On a car definitely they have to switch to airplane mode.

The camera has the best ergonomics ever made in this planet and I own (-ed) cameras from the Pentax Spotmatic, Canon AE-1 and I am still using for pro work most of the cameras in the market (in the last 10 days I had to work with the Canon C100/5Diii/A7sII/GH5) and I am still do not think of letting go my 4 NX cameras, I am crazy, or just happy using this equipment? At the time (2015), Samsung had a very good collection of lenses, with only a few gaps, and a lack of very tele lenses which some do not use anyway. Only Fuji had more lenses, and even Fuji lacked some of the Samsung ones, the problem wasn't the lack of lenses for most people, the problem is that they stopped producing more, while they had 300mm, 2.8f ready for production, and some other lenses in the final stage of R&D, sadly it didn't happen, but I am happy to own 7-8 NX lenses, that cover everything I do, from 10mm fisheye, which no one else does natively - not even Fuji, to 200mm. That is all I need, honestly, and have taken me so far. Is smaller and lighter than the GH5 and the new Fuji H1. In my opinion, just perfect for an APS-C PRO body, the best ever made. I am wondering if you consider the Sony boxes as pretty, because they are flat out ugly, but not ergonomic at the same time. It took them 3 generations to reach the level they are in today, which still is behind what Samsung did in 2014 with their first generation. We care, we own, we use, we saved money using the same system since 2014-2015 while other have changed 1-2-3 systems since then. @webrunner5 sorry, but your opinion means nothing, like all the rest that never bought to the system and make words out of nothing. If you have never used one, how can you judge? also, the camera is from 2014 dude, so why it is weird to compare it with a camera of that age? also, that camera cost more than double the price and is a full frame one, so it should be superior in everything, but not only isn't vastly superior, it looses in most usability, modern features and video specs. A 2014 camera came into this era, and still been competitive of better than even the modern ones, with a few gems of lenses, and a sidekick (NX500) that you can even use as a B cam, or every day "pocket" cam (with one of the excellent, tiny pancakes, and ultra sharp pancakes) like the 30mm/2f) and that's that. Another fact. I did a photo shooting to some friend'ss events, professional photo/videographers, the one owns Sony, and the other GH5, both of them and their families loved what I gave them out of the camera. Color Science is something we do not talk much when we talk about NX, and you know what? because we do not have to, unlike some other brands that still can't fight the yellows or the greens.
  8. We have discussed this already, but it didn't have a dedicated thread. This seems like an exciting possibility -especially now that Pocket made the hybrid camera, but with the video first in mind (and not the opposite, like all the rest of the hybrids), a reality - a XC-M camera could be the best of both worlds (and more capable taking pictures), and put Canon first in this new - and non existent yet - category of products. XC ergonomics, with M lenses (the 22mm and the 11-22mm are good) and touch focus DPAF would be good news. Still the M has some obvious problems, just a couple interesting options, no pro lenses at all, many kit zooms and only 7 lenses in total, no other competitive M camera existing - so it is difficult to envision a competitive XC when there aren't any M with great features, and how good it can be, and how cheap, when there is no C100mkIII, and the mkII is still a 35Mbps 1080 camera, and the next one, is a 9000euros 15minutes RAW camera (C200). If Canon was someone else, I would be very excited, but now, it could be a very limited camera, with a very high price (2500-3000euros).

Selling sensors, can be more profitable than making cameras, and Samsung is very close to this (if you read the articles around the web, they already have the infrastructure, and the capital to invest further). I am sure they already have a top spec-ed camera (look at recent NX2 rumors), but not for general release. They do not want to scare their future customers (other manufacturers). The Japanese will never let a Korean or Chinese company to buy Nikon. Things in business do not add up "this is one billion, so I do not care, this is 100 billion, so I care". You start with one billion and you make it 10, and so on and so forth. Brick and mortar stores are a thing of the 20th century, do not see affecting sales very much in the 21st century. Samsung NX1 was a 1500$ body with the (very good - unlike the similar Sony) 16-50PZ, when back then the 7D body was more expensive, and the "obsolete" GH4 was the same amount of money. They can produce (they already have the prototypes) the best hybrid APS-C camera ever made, and undercut everyone's price at the same time. Arguably, the NX1 body is the best ergonomic camera ever been made, so far, with the best touch operating system ever created, still. Imagine a NX1mkII.
  10. Their words, (to put everything in perspective, their main system is Nikon, but they tried to change full on Fuji but still they can't) 1) better ergonomics. They size/weight of the specific camera is too much for an APS-C system. 2) battery life, before (in older cameras too) and in the current one. Bigger battery. 3) Better sensor. 4) other smaller things, that I do not remember, didn't pay much attention at the time of the conversations. You have to understand that most pro, were working for years with Canon and Nikon dSLRs, so a pretty face isn't just enough for pro work. Also, as I mentioned above (and other times) the only people I know with Fuji had/or still have Nikon dSLR cameras and they needed a mirrorless system. I believe some of them, will move back to Nikon, if they offer a good mirrorless system, and soon, so the next Fuji moves will be very important for their pro aspect of their business.
  11. The latest moves from BM shows that they have learned from their mistakes and they are moving to the right direction in all fronts. The fact that they are searching now how to manufacture the camera is not very optimistic for early September delivery. It's not a simple thing to manufacture a camera, it takes a lot of components to be bought from different sources and a lot of logistics. It may take them a little more, but in the end I believe they will deliver. @mercer maybe gave me a couple of good reasons to wait a little bit longer and not pre-order! Of,course open box buys are very rare in Europe, and the price is already very low, I wouldn't mind a brand new one, but I wouldn't like to be a beta tester.
  12. You have misunderstood, I never implied that it was you! I just quoted Max's line from his intro, and happened under your comment, sorry if it seemed that I was referring to you! I know from your presence in the forums and your real life experience that you are not fanboying anyone! The only 2 persons (professionals) that I know that own Fuji, will skip this camera, and they are expecting the X-T3 to be vastly superior.
  13. I know, I have 2 NX1, 1 NX500 and a NX3000 for good measures! The point was that he doesn't specifically attack Fuji in his video about the H1, is a series of videos that he does all the time. I have expressed my opinion about Yuryev's videos, he is a wedding videographer and seems like a nice guy, and that's that, but it was implied that he is "attacking" Fuji, without doing the same on other brands, which is not true. He is favoring Sony, for sure, but until recently he had 3 NX1 cameras, and he is making all these clickbait videos for all brands, and it must be working, because those 2 I posted above were the only ones I have seen of him recently! The Fuji facts are more serious though, and Fuji supporters (like cameras need funs!?!) are very sensitive to criticism.

Last post in this thread anyway, it doesn't seem that this camera will interest me in the end. He does these videos all the time, I meant, I am not following him, but I have seen those two under, I bet he has more. This is for Sony (long time ago was 2 months obviously!) If you are referring to the Yuryev video, he has done the same for Sony cameras "long" time ago (he says in the beginning of the video as well), and has done for other systems, he has one even for NX1 cameras! "thought the Sony fanboys were the worst, but Fuji guys are very dedicated, to put it nicely" and he said that, even before putting this video out.

  17. Of course, I do not disagree with the information, I agree with you, but they should know better messing with a "closed" system's very closed box. For power users it is not the best option. I am building all my computers since the 90's, I would never do with a platform like this, but anyone "investing" in the system, should know that it is the Apple's way, or no way at all.

That is not the point at all, and it's half the price of what you are posting anyway, 50% less, if people believed that a device such this can replace a proper monitor, then he/she was mistaken and I hope they didn't support the kickstarter campaign, because they are in for a big disappointment. I quote myself "I see it as a backup option, for whatever reason, maybe put a tablet as a directors monitor, maybe you do not have another monitor, maybe for a second camera monitor, maybe you forget your monitor(!) or its batteries, and so on and so forth, and my mobile phone is 2K 600nits IPS 5.7", so I would like to see how it goes!" and the next phone, will have definitely a better screen, and I hope I still be able to use it with the Lukilink. I never saw it as a proper pro field monitor replacement, and I have yet to see any of the Feelworlds as one. (this Feelworld says 460 nits, not even close to a mobile phone, and probably the real value is less than that, and nits are very important, because the first thing you expect from a monitor, is to be seen).

    DR100mkII, and I have 2 of its batteries, so I can go for 2 full working days with those 2 batteries and 4 Eneloop (the white ones, not the black). I don't remember what DR60 was back then when I bought the 100mkII, but the 100 it was clearly far superior in everything (including built quality). I believe (I am 99% sure) the 60D and 70D had the same circuitry, while the DR100mkII a better one, and that was pretty obvious in pricing too, as I bought it for 499euros (it is 320euros right now) back then, while the others cost half, or something. Also, Independent left/right adjustable large rotary input volume knob, unlike the digital +/- of the era (yep, when everyone got a terrible zoom with hiss-y pre amps, terrible phone pre amplifiers and digital steps to set the input). Very useful when I was booming one hand in documentaries (I was doing a lot of music ones, which were very demanding and had to act swift). Nowdays, I wouldn't pay easily 410 for the new one, with some plus and minuses from the older model, but it was perfect for 5 seasons on TV, and unlimited other applications through the years (bought in 2012). Tascam Dr-100 mkii Low Cutoff Filter values are 40, 80, 120 Hz (others started from 100Hz or up, back then) and I know a few people using the stereo mics at the top (the omnis based on the body are almost unusable).
  21. The grip is an additional accessory, that is mandatory in such a big and heavy camera is a disadvantage, in whatever way you see it. The 120 IQ seems worst than a 2014 camera I own, and it's 2018.. and all the rest. If you take it out of context, and I know some will, then it's the best video option for Fuji system, but if you aren't part of the ecosystem, then it is a hard sell, and more announcements are coming.
  22. Final price is supposed to be around 99-129euros, it is an option for some things. I see it as a backup option, for whatever reason, maybe put a tablet as a directors monitor, maybe you do not have another monitor, maybe for a second camera monitor, maybe you forget your monitor(!) or its batteries, and so on and so forth. and my mobile phone is 2K 600nits IPS 5.7", so I would like to see how it goes! I am not that optimistic, it seems they always took the easier decisions, and that means that the performance will be sub par, but I thought it was a good idea to have one in your back, just because, and it wasn't that expensive to push some innovation. My main monitor is the Focus, still consider it as the absolute minimum for monitoring purposes, I could never thought that a 99$(-129$) kickstarter device would be better than this! @KnightsFan They say that you can't charge the phone simultaneously.

    I get your reasoning and everything, and the F series, honestly, seems more pro orientated, but I am sure a lot of people will pay the SD premium, and those analog circuits, but in the end, is all about choices, and these 2 series are the best low budget ones in business for sure. I am looking to upgrade a bit from the Tascams I use, and certainly the F4 is not out of the question (keeping the DR680 for when I need more ch, and the DR100 for when I have 1 or 2 sources, the pre amps are vastly better than the older generation of Tascam/Zooms) as it is very easily "reachable", as the MixPre 6 cost 2800NZD (!) here, and the 10T is not available, while the Zoom F4 is readily available and have similar price with the rest of Europe. I am waiting to see the market to stabilize a bit, and I still believe Tascam must be working on something, there is no way they are selling a lot of anything, with the F/MixPre series around. As of the RodeLink, it was short of a revolution back then, and the pricing..oh my! For most cameramen, it is all they need, and it cost 1/3 of the AVX price, which is the other full digital wireless kit. For us, pro soundmen, it was too big, and rough around the edges, but still a lot of people got them, and played a significant role in the history of wireless microphones (like the G3 a generation before that). Honestly, we need top spec wireless, but if you do not work full time, all the time, on big productions, it is difficult to excuse 3-5.000$ per channel for a wireless kit. If you want 5, do you spend 15-20.000$? It was hard for me to buy a series of Sony hybrids, for a total price (including VAT) of 3200euros (5000NZD? something like this). I didn't follow the NAB closely because I was island-working (always more things to do on an island, and difficult to go by ship and all the equipment, so extra effort to spend), so maybe I just didn't pay much attention! But I hear you, always!
