  1. "The entry-level model will launch for around £330/€380 body only, which would equate to somewhere around $385 without tax. That's the lowest launch price of any DSLR we can remember." "The 4000D shares its body and viewfinder with its more expensive sibling (and previous cameras of this series), but relies on a version of the 18MP sensor first introduced nine years ago in the EOS 7D, and the Digic 4+ processor that made its debut in Canon's 2014 model-year compacts. The camera's rear display is a 2.7-inch LCD that we last encountered in 2011's EOS 1100D/Rebel T3." "Finally, some kits of the camera will include the unstabilized 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 III first announced in February of 2011, although we're pretty sure the plastic lens mount is a first for a digital EOS." "Still, we've not seen such aggressive corner cutting unit cost optimization since Sony's a3000 (which was seemingly made from upcycled yogurt containers), and can't think of a DSLR that has ever launched at a lower price." A sensor from 2009, a processor from 2014 and a rear display from 2011 with a kit lens of that said year. 380euros for this thing is not cheap at all, and yes, the mount is plastic.
  2. Of course, the top Fuji sensors are made by Sony on a Fuji design. Sony does manufacture the sensors, it custom made them as well. Nikon also has a saying on the sensors they buy from there. Sony dominates the sensor market at the moment, but I am sure that will change, but not very soon. There is a lot of money on imaging sensors - and a lot of uses, to leave it only to one manufacturer. I am certain this camera will sell a lot, but it is not an entry level model, is a mid-low one. Entry starts from 350-400euros these days.
  3. People expressing personal opinions are not allowed in your watch? Fanboys? Troll? Flame? Do you even know what those terms mean? Get a grip dude, you embarrass yourself more and more. There is freedom of speech, not “only Matthias should speak”. This is not your personal bubble, and if you feel that way then definitely you do not understand the medium. I have tried to absent from this discussion (and others that you are trying to control recently) but when I see you PM people calling me names you truly disgust me. Machinations of the lowest kind, for not even important matters from a failed student of Machiavelli. Stop referring to my name please, let me be.
  4. @Mattias Burling I really wonder how I was part of that conversation, and If I have any rights to be offended, by you, PM-ing people calling names on me?!?! At least, my "fanboism" ( I wonder to whom? To a dead as a Dodo camera system? Even your "accusation" is ridiculous) is happening in front of everyone and not behind personal messages and firewalls. This is a sad story written by a sad individual. I would say we need a new Fuji X-H1 thread, about that said camera, and not people's psychological issues. The camera will be out soon and we do not need all this white noise.
  5. Small bodies do not bode well with heat. Examples: Panasonic did the GH5 as big, or biggest, than traditional full frame dSLRS to fight heat inside the body, and offer all these amazing video capabilities. Sony and their well know issues with overheating. Fuji did a big a camera as the GH5, with a lot less video capabilities (+crops like the Sony's), and you have to add the battery grip for basic operations, like a headphone jack (and to fight the limiting video recording) and look at all the Nikon and Canon's with their huge crop. The technology is not a given, and today's materials are reaching their limits. Graphene!
  6. @Django I have no horses in this race, but GH5 is a video orientated hybrid camera, while the GH5s is a video camera disguised as a hybrid camera, and like the A7s series, only a few (there is one here in this forum!) will use it mainly as a photographic tool. My impression is that the X-H1 is a hybrid camera, with advanced video capabilities, for a Fuji. I do not see a lot of people from the Sony, Panasonic, Samsung (yes, us!) camp to change to Fuji because of this camera. Some will; most, definitely not. Every new camera is good for the overall competition between manufacturers, that is good for us, potential customers and users. We need as many as possible! It is definitely impressive that the Fuji is so high, but there is the rest of the world to account for, and the rest of the world, in more than one senses, is a lot bigger than the U.S market. You are a bit unfair to the GH5 also, because it is a 1 year old camera, and I am sure it was pretty high on those charts when new, actually, in my European country, the camera was back ordered until the end of May, beginning of June, because Panasonic couldn't cover the pre orders. Even the XLR thingy wasn't available until later in summer (or was it September?). From your chart, very interesting things also are that a very expensive A7rIII is at #4, and Panasonic G7 are #6 and #7! Thankfully there is a right tool for everyone these days.
  7. JVC never advertised it as a cinema camera, isn't that, it is a workhorse camera in the sense of a camcorder, and the rich history JVC has on them. 10bit is irrelevant to the conversation right now, especially when the GH5/GH5s are the only cameras offering 10bit under, at least, 5000$. The smartphone market is different as well, would you work with a 10 bit phone? I would rather have the "weak" Canon C100mkII codec than any existent footage of a phone (at the moment). LS300 is a very humble offer from JVC with some great innovative ideas, the price is right too. It is a little bit rough around the edges (ergonomically is not very good, because unlike the older camcorders it mimics, putting different lenses on a body is a different story, the viewfinder non workable/monitor terrible etc) and looses on some specs, but in general is a good buy for the instances that one could (or would) use a camcorder, and there are plenty of them, and still sell well.
  8. @Inazuma nah..easy Sunday noon here. Some extra time to kill on forums!
  9. Thanks. For all the good things I have ever say about the GH5 the camera is very heavy and "deep", that spoils a bit its ergonomics and usability. For good measures(sic) http://camerasize.com/compact/#572,772,698,ga,b Check the perfect position of the thumb wheel on the NX1. 123gr less than the Fuji and smaller bezels!
  10. That is a seriously scary little creature! Blue screens in windows happen to me once every year or two. No issues. Ubuntu (Zulu pronunciation: [ùɓúntʼù])[1][2] is a Nguni Bantu term meaning "humanity". It is often also translated as "humanity towards others", but is often used in a more philosophical sense to mean "the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity".[3]
  11. Wow! This is a huge camera! Does anyone have a comparison in size with the GH5?
  12. As I see it, and it is exactly as I look at it for years now, that is exactly the reason excellent cameras such the GH5 are top in many people's list right now, or excellent forward thinking cameras like the NX1 can't easily let you go of them. Great image attributes (GH5: 10 bit, many codec/high speed options. NX1:H265 codec as high as 180Mbps stable, with very good slow mo quality and one of the least rolling shutter in 1080p until the GH5 came), unlimited recording time the first and 78min continuous recording the other, but with also praised ergonomics and build quality. What's not to like? There isn't a probable issue holding people from buying them (or still using them). Conclusions: for me and many pro videographer friends, the Sony crop cameras are down because of ergonomics, unreliability in the field and battery life, and Fuji and Canon do not offer the full package to be considered as workhorses in the industry. There are a few Sony here and there as B roll cameras (mostly because the A7sII are very popular, and mostly a6300 that people bought, and can't get rid of on a normal price, because it lost half of its value a little bit after they bought them ), but no Fuji at all, and a few Canon 5DmkIII that have left from the previous wave. GH5 is dominated my specific segment so hard, that I buy stuff with my mind on those cameras (I have said that before, Edelkrone Surface and Slider for GH5, SmallHD Focus GH version).
  13. @webrunner5 I mentioned the top 3 in my opinion (and most of the press and reviewers opinion anyway), as you noticed Olympus is not among them because they have menu issues as well. All the rest have nothing to do with menu systems on cameras.
  14. oh my.. not this again.. There is another thread about that same film.
  15. I would hope for a better camera. LS300 is great for what it is, and for the price, but they need a better processor, and maybe some improvement on the output of the sensor (or even better, a slightly better one!). Since the 2 companies I work mostly bought into GH5, we haven't used the LS300 since June.
  16. @Mokara .. and Elvis is alive somewhere in the outer rings of Pluto..too much X-files speculation for such a simple thing. Have you ever heard about Occam's razor? The simplest answear is usually the right one. Do you think that it is more possible, that Samsung was building a good line up of various cameras and lenses for half a dozen years, so eventually to push Canon to give them a technology they didn't even have when Samsung started making cameras?! Right! They could have easily spend half of the money that spend to R&D 19 camera bodies, 15 lenses (Canon Eos M have 7), another 1" system, and I assure you they would have a much better AF system than anyone on the planet. Instead of that, they produced a couple of truly unbelievable cameras that are still considered relevant, even 3-4 years after their demise. Do not forget, that latest Samsung's AF system was highly advanced for 2014, I would believe that a couple of NX cameras later (If you take a 2 year cycle, now we would have a NX1mkIII) the AF performance would have been very close to Dual Pixel AF, anyway (if not better, but I am not going there), without borrowing anything. Still for video is more reliable than a6300's, which is erratic most of the times (you can check the Philip Bloom video that tests a few cameras, and NX, that he throws just for fun, works surprisingly good).
  17. I wish Linux was sufficient for what I do, but I can't completely transfer my workflow there. I have an old laptop that got a new life through Ubuntu, but not for professional reasons. It is anachronistic to resist Windows 10. I almost always adapt the latest Windows version (except Vista, I never did that mistake!). @webrunner5 Do not confuse things, Sony's menus are not terrible because offer a lot of options, are terrible because seemingly they do not have any reason or logic behind their design. I haven't used the latest (a7riii/a9) but the previous ones were a completely mess. Have you ever used an NX camera? The touch screen implementation, and the 3-5 ways of changing settings is the best in business. Then Canon, and Panasonic is a lot better lately - even though I wouldn't put them even close to Samsung and Canon. Sony menu system is seemingly built by people good at programming skills, but not photographers.
  18. Great price! Canon eos M is tempting for the first time. I can't wait to see what they can do with an Eos M5mkII for around 1000. It will push their other models forward too, I can see a 90D or an 8D before summer. The 22mm and the 11-22 are mandatory for the system. No other interesting lenses though, maybe a couple of EF-S, but I strongly prefer native lenses in my systems. Completely irrelevant to compare this little gem with the raw diamonds the 2 GH5s are. Entry mid-lowish level though? Canon starts looking really interesting. What is the Video Creator's Kit?!!
  19. @Sanka Great project, weird song (Is it Celtic-Chinese?!)! It must have been a lot of work because there are many creative ideas in there, congrats. How do you find log for high ISO scenes? What is your highest ISO you can go in general? 1600?
  20. The bad thing with Canon M line, except the silly small native lens line up, is that no one expects much from firmware updates. I frequent Eos M forums, and that is a constant disappointment among users. They expect this camera to be the most advanced M camera ever (and probably is) and will be an instant hit with Youtubers.
  21. C100mkII is 35Mbps also, and it is a S35 sensor. Bitrates don't mean much. The proof of the pudding is in the eating!
