  1. OK, thanks for the info! I didn't know about the ignore button. It's all cool then.
  2. @Mattias Burling dude, I can make fun of whatever camera I want. You are not the internet police, just a fun blocker. You do not have to anti-post whatever I say in every thread. This camera doesn't deserve to be an entry level of anything in 2018. What this has to do with poverty and what-not?!
  3. The naming will follow dSLRs. 4 digits for laughable entry level ones, 3 digits for less laughable entry level, 2 digits for middle ones, and 1 digit for top spec-ed. This will cost around 1000, with an announcement price of maybe even more (1200$ are possible). That has nothing to do with the new Nikon, we are still waiting for the full frame Canon that will go head to head against Nikon, Sony in the top segment. The price will be great next Black Friday.
  4. I agree with you, megapixels and generations are nothing at all. I recently bought a smartphone. I do use smartphones. We still can have some camera fun though. No?!
  5. Low prices are good, but not with tech of previous generations. You were telling us about a Panasonic that you bought for 200euros and some other incredible prices, so I would guess anyone can buy a cheap camera these days. a6000 can be had for a few hundred of euros also. We are not upset, we are making fun of the entry of the entry of the entry level of this camera. There are toy cameras probably worth more than this!
  6. This seems like a middle segment camera. Like usual, the less the digits, the biggest the tier. This is the equivalent of the 80D, and the body is NOT entry level, entry level Canon's have even worst specs and are smaller than that. 4K TVs will be sold, because medium to higher end TVs are only 4K, for a couple of years now at least. Also LG sold a ton of big OLED screens (smaller one is 55") and is the number 1 profit of that company also (now they sell panels to Sony and Panasonic too). I still haven't delivered, not 1 4K project, ever. and I do not think I do this year either. 95% I shoot 1080p, and noone ever asked for 4K, but for events, we are going to offer the possibility for an extra charge.
  7. what tha...what is going on here? what's this?! What does all that mean?! I am going to watch Trollhunters.. edit: what rich people? I bought a NX3000 body, which has a better 20mgpxl sensor, in mint condition for 130euros a couple of years ago, and that paired with the small 16-50PZ or tiny 30mm, is my compact. I doubt "poor" people would buy into a ILC though, except if they are poor for bodies, and rich for lenses!
  8. I live and work on a more touristic country than Sweden (around 32.000.000 tourists for 2017), and my impression is that smartphones use is something like 70%, and that depends by a lot of factors. The wealth/class/social status of said visitors, if it is an archaeological site or a popular beach, on ultra expensive Santorini, or cheap side of Kos e.t.c In popular and lower income mass tourism locations, the smartphone usage is something like 99%! In more expensive and cultural locations (museums, not very popular archaeological sites) there are a lot more dedicated cameras. My impression, is that, for camera users, Canon is like, almost all! Nikon APS-C, Olympus, and lately Sony are following (especially Sony, which was a non factor a few years ago). I have seen a few Panasonic, NX cameras (a lot of brown or white, certainly as fashion statements as well) and Fuji (especially in Japanese tourists) but I believe I saw them, because it was strange that I saw someone with those kind of cameras. My estimation? Canon is number one, by far, certainly in total sales (I am not sure about total profit), Olympus seems to sell surprisingly well, and maybe Panasonic does not sell too well to the masses.
  9. 500GB EVO 850 I bought in Christmas for 149euros on a brick and mortar shop. Do you want to keep your piratebay movies collection on SSD? I wouldn't think so. A couple of 500GB and 1 250GB for the operating system and programs are good enough for most projects, and if you do bigger ones, you wouldn't mind spending more than 149euros for your hard drives. They said cheap, not free. Also, check Samsung T5, and tell me if isn't the future here!
  10. I am pro Canon. They must be doing some things right to still be number one. I am not defending them, they certainly are holding back too much on too mamy of their products, but for most people, even their mirrorless makes more sense than 10 bit codecs and exotic 1.2f lenses. Good AF, good color science and pleasing images, ok ergonomy and touch screens, and most people are happy. Of, course it would be difficult for me to buy such a "basic" camera, but what do I know? I still use 2014 cameras that have arguably more tech than any Canon APS-C camera in 2018.
  11. http://www.newsshooter.com/2018/02/20/panasonic-develops-industrys-first-8k-high-resolution-high-performance-global-shutter-technology-using-organic-photoconductive-film-cmos-image-sensor/
  12. Samsung is really much into profit, through innovation. Apple is really much into profit, through fashion. I believe in Form follows function, so I will take the real innovators anytime. Now Apple follows the trends (people were waiting a full 2-3 years for HEVC implementation, while my cheap Samsung TVs play H265 files like butter, and 2-3 full years to get a 5.5" phone, etc etc).
  13. Why only half?! I say, we all are dumber than average, while average is the lowest of the low, and humanity is a bucket full of s@%tload of s@%t! I even buy this camera if it goes down in price a little bit!
  14. I give ZERO chances that this will be the mirrorless to end them all (at least at mid-low price), and even though the specs are entry level (better than laughable entry level Fuji A5 of,course) to mid, the price will be much higher than 1000$/euros. The physical layout and ergonomics remind an advanced point and shoot, and not a pro mirrorless. If they play their cards right, I see a lot of the recently - going a6300/a6500 to adapt my EF lenses, crowd - moving to a Canon mirrorless for their native EF/EF-S lenses. Canon still has some time left in their tank. Nikon is in the worst situation, a similar Nikon mirrorless won't do a dent to the industry (it will sell more than some other brands, but maybe won't be enough to keep Nikon afloat). Do not forget that Canon have APS-C mirrorless since 2012. The good think is that they will update everything above that ( like @DaveAltizer said, 8D, 90D, and hopefully, even C100mkIII) really soon.
  15. We will see a lot of advances. Samsung has a lot of innovation to offer the next couple of years, especially in data storage and data transfer (one of the most profitable Samsung sub divisions, especially now that Apple canceled half of their OLED screens they had in order!). HEVC (or similar) is very important too. I was watching some 20min, 1080p videos in HEVC, and for 200-400MB the quality is amazing. More efficient codecs will do too, it is not only about raw data.
  16. There is an original EF (-S) mount offered by Canon for a little more than 100$. The camera is APS-C though, and it won't have C300 HD video, and this is happening for years and years. Only the last couple of years Canon had 6-7 mirrorless out.
  17. The next step would be youtube videos of cats, where the sun does never shine. Ibis and 1.000.000.000 ISO would be mandatory!
  18. The rumor of a rumor, created a possible rumor!
  19. Don't make fun with such matters, there is only one solution https://petapixel.com/2018/02/02/new-phantom-camera-can-shoot-4mp-6600fps/
  20. This well sell really well with amateurs and Canon users, that want to have an additional small mirrorless, to their dSLRs, and Canon user base is huge. Now, where is a pro EOS M body?!
  21. ..and that is why I am reluctant to post stuff from work or family, that I would loose control on the internet..lines are so easily crossed, while we do not really know other people's limits. I am sure Matthew didn't want to offend anyone.
  22. What a6700? How do you know there is one coming? and when? and how do you know even details like 60p UHD and HLG profile?
  23. In 1080p, from the usual source: NX1/NX500 has 7.9ms/8.6ms which is outstanding considering date of release etc. a7Riii has 6.1in S35, which is the best measurement/7.7(FF) (more outstanding, but expected) and XT2 has 18.9ms, just to put things in perspective. GH5s (11.3 - 11.9, depending) has less than the GH5 (officially, 15ms), by the way! I do not think that we will see amazing technologies in just 2 years from now. There are a lot of areas that they can improve. Sensor tech, in built ultra fast memory, faster data transfer speeds, better everything! AI chips should play some part too because most of their uses in mobile phones have something to do with photos taken and post processed.
  24. For me they are too completely different art forms (or hobbies, or professions). Personally, my hobby is still images, my profession is moving images. I started with my hobby when I was -really- young, and then I moved to what I believe is the most complete and demanding artistic job, that technicalities are also very much important, together with physics and other scientific or artistic fields.
