Well, of course those settings have to be tested. But what this also states is that all AFC tests so far were absolutely meaningless. B

The review is not bad. Most of the cons are about right, but they got it very wrong on the body design. Complete opposite for me. I think it's a masterpiece. Best DSLR Type body out there. And there is one other point I think they misjudged: Leica has a Start advantage comparable to Canon and Nikon in regards to a professional mirrorless workhorse camera. Count this with the optical outstanding lenses and the partnership with Panasonic in regards to Video the next SL should be a hard one to ignore. B

Hmm... surprised no discussed the Video from Joseph Linaschke here: https://www.youtube.com/user/jlinaschke For example: B

GH5 - 5 axis stabilisation body versus 3 axis gimbal?

IBIS would be a total surprise based on my Leica Experience, or: the chances will be very slim. B

Yep, I'm also so surprised about the GH5 Videos available on youtube. The Beta-Test Samples of GH5 are out for a while now and someone could have done easily a good comparison video. It's so worse that my biggest hope is Kai or Lok B

Yep. Exactly how the camera feels and handles. About the black color: It's brassing like the M with the difference that it doesn't look that nice. Thats why I would prefer a black chrome version of the SL. But I might been in once the SL MKII is out... now im still hesitating B

I don't know the PanaLeica 25mm but I would suggest the new 25mm F1.2. It seems to have everything you need for video. Newest rumors are that there will be also a 17mm 1.2 Olympus on the horizon. B

Nice read! The Leica SL is one of the best designed 35mm bodies of all time (borrows a lot from the S System). I'm always torn about to buy or not to buy. However, I'm an Leica M user (and the M10 is just so damn sexy..... just waiting for the P version) and my second camera is the GH4 soon to be replaced by the GH5. But again the SL body is just brilliant and the crystal clear EVF is the best by lightyears. I also cannot understand the success of the Sony. Yes the sensors are great , but everything else form handling, usability and durability is.... plainly awful .... a 299,- of the shelf horror design. What definitely will be interesting is the next SL in about 2 years! That could be a killer if Leica gets their hands on the GH5 stuff. In the meantime we will see the next S, a major upgrade. B

Lot of wrong stuff in one single post. Leica Hater by the way? 1.) The viewfinder is 4.4MP with a 1280×1024 pixel resolution and the Panel is Epson. The optics, design etc. is by Leica. 2.) The lenses/optics are made and designed by Leica. Panasonic has made the design specifications in regards to Zoom Function and Video AF. That's why it's a joint venture. The whole AF System/ Motor and how the elements are moving is a Leica own design. 3) The video functions has been designed mainly by Panasonic and Leica bought also the Vlog knowledge - very similar to the GH4. This has first off all nothing to do with the Sensor. But its fun to read Leica bashing.... B

And in the comment section they are talking about: "REC709 preview when shooting V Log." B

Well, I'm a still shooter that how likes to do a bit of video nowadays. My main camera is the M9 - and by the way I think Leica will have some surprises in regards to video at this years photokina. Anyway. I use also the m4/3 and the 4/3 system before and I'm in favor of the Olympus Cameras ( still have the E1!!!) and their stunningly good lenses. However I switched from the Em1 to the GH4. And I also know the Olympus community quite good and some user groups. What I can say for shure when it comes time flagship/ pro bodies for stills no one really considers the GH4, everyone accepts that's capable of very good stills but everyone knows it's for its very very good Video with pro features for very little money. So, therefore Panay could really beat up the still side but it wouldn't be recognized as munched as they hope. Video however would be a no brainier! Actually, now that I've used the GH4 for stills, even with lenses like the 300mm F4 I have to say that perception is a little bit unfair. Focus is definitely not up to EM1 but in actual usage it handles nicer, it has a very responsive interface and the IQ is basically the same. Would even say, ISO is better. And it colorewise it suits my Leica workflow better. Now, what would I expect for GH5? I think this one would be considered a millstone and will have a go on everyone in mirrorless and DSLR world in view of videographers - not necessary by specs but by usability! New 16MP Sensor Inbody 5-IS Internal 4k 60Fps 10bit 4:2:2: 200mbs and no crop Dual SD which utilizes the new 300mb/s SD cards Tweaked interface with more setups items in video mode V-log with customs Anamorphic with desqueeze Clean HDMI output as usual improved focus, but probably still behind Olympus. Maybes: New improved external interface with one or two surprises Even better "output"when used with HDMI Price? Not less than 2000,- USD, probably slightly more. Delivery January 17 B

Thanks for the answers, Well, the issue is that timewise the kit needs to be there by beginning of Mar16 ( and I need to get used to it as well ;-) ). The Lx100 is nice. I've used it (Leica Version)but as far as I understand there is no HDMI Live feed and on the software side it's quite less than the GH4. For the Ronin M the is also Follow Focus , i.e. from IKAN: PD Movie http://ikancorp.com/productdetail.php?id=1136 B

Hello Just registered... So far I've been passive reading in various forums but I think this best forum to ask or get the final direction. Now I'm in the market for a 4K camera solution. There are obvious cameras out there, but I will most likely settle for the GH4 with VLog. The Sony A7s are also interesting but my biggest concern is the rolling shutter for gimbal work, run and gun etc....... Anyway. I still haven't 100% decided ...so I'm still open for comments Now, having a 4K capable mirrorless is the easy part. It's the kit surrounding such a cam. As for the recorder I will most likely go for the Atomos Shogun. Now, I'm still not sure how to rig the whole package. A Gimbal solution is on top at the shopping list. Basically this bolts down to something like the DJI Ronin M or the Beholder DS1. The ronin looks great but is big, heavy and maybe a bit of an overkill. The Beholder DS1 is probably more in line with of being compact and fast. However, were I'm really stuck is what about focus (and zoom...). With shoulder or tripod mount and the geared follow focus its easy. But how is it managed when a gimbal is used.... Hardware or technique ????? So, to summarize the above issues: 1. GH4 or Sony? 2. Atomos Shogun? 3. Gimbal: DJI Ronin or Beholder DS1 or....? 4. What about focus (and zoom) while on a gimbal? Hopefully it's not to confusing..... B Ps: for the computer: Mac with FCX, Compressor and Color Finale .....
