I think those who feel some kind of sinister motive from samsung have been watching too much xfiles. I don't think samsung cares at all about the hack, I'll bet they don't even know it exists. The bitrate hack will work again in a little bit, give kino time. We are cockroaches to samsung.

1.41 supposed to fix android 6 issues with camera manager! Got email from samsung

outerbeat: can you walk me through the focus pull, how you did it for video. The newest mod has focus buttons which I assume are meant to work as focus points. Any way, For the focus pull stacking Ok set near, set far, then whatever than cont. thing does 6 second delay 100 frames, which I guess means the pull starts in 6 sec and will run for 100 frames- Then how to start? Do I hit the camera record button, then hit the start, on the monitor display, button is that right? or are you using the focus pull function. I don't get how than one is supposed to work. can't get it to work right nx1 1.67

my ticket. not sure why they have decided this. I don't why some can't get the video even in. I would get something like the klite codec pack and the avid codecs. I don't why that would make a difference.. I have 3 pcs all win 10 and there's no issue with the video importing. I think it's absurd they just decide not to support aac on windows. bleeding arbitrary. After discussing the matter with our development team they have confirmed that AAC is not a supported audio codec on the Windows platform. I will mark this ticket as a feature request for the attention of the development team. As we are technical support we cannot comment on the possibility of future features or support for future versions of Resolve.
-
no that's not true. It "supports" the same way it did in the last version. You can import the clip in, but it doesn't import the audio at all, which blows.
-
A lot I could say here. This has been so since the release of v12 weeks ago and they said they supported h265. I went to support with the no audio bug and they verified it was a bug. I do not know if it is still in the days old v 12.5 beta. I'm on a project and can't update right now. Yet, I still use resolve for all my nx1 video. I cut it in premiere and round trip to resolve, without audio and then drop the resolve grade into premiere.(lots of videos around how to roundtrip) I do this step because resolve is still not as good for edits as premiere. All that said I use resolve for all grading because it stands alone as the best grading software at any price.

that is an absurd price, even if it had the s lens.

I did not know about the fullscreen 1080p thing. First I've ever heard of it. I am aware I can download my uploaded file, it's a great cheap backup. But along with the inane unchangeable default auto, this isn't the way vimeo used to work. If an uploaded 1080p file was 200mb, as long as the bitrate was within vimeo's guideline, say 20mbs, the download of the 1080 file was 200mb. In this case the download of the original file was also 200mb. But now the 1080p file is much smaller, well under half the size! Much worse for 2.5k and 4k, that are way smaller. This suggests that the playback in 1080p will be a vastly inferior file to the uploaded one. These changes happened very recently. It makes me very sad. I hate yolutube, but it doesn't do either of these.

well I couldn't let this go, so I did so of my own tests. a 4k video with 120mbs bit rate is recompressed to 22mbs.This is by using the download button in vimeo, A 1440p with 120 is compressed to 12mbs. Pathetic.I want to know what happens to my uploaded videos on their end. Exactly how it is compressed. Results using vimeo's own recommendations gave even lower bitrates. I also investigated what the default AUTO quality(you can no longed decide a default quality) always gave me a 720p version. WTF. I have a powerhouse computer and out of this world connection speeds. What do you need to get high auto quality? And I'm a vimeo pro for god's sake. I pay them. If there's something I'm not getting please enlighten. I'm ready to drop vimeo but I've spent a lot of time setting all my portfolios up. It's a major deal to move stuff to youtube.

Start with vimeo 1080p preset then:Export in 1440p CBR at 90 mbps for 1080p On 4K export 120 mbps CBR. so, if I have a 4k video file, like from nx1, should I, in the media encoder export: keep it 4k with 120mbs? Right? Or are you saying to do a 1440p export but at 120mbs? To get further into this: Since vimeo now does this accursed AUTO quality setting, and god knows how it assesses that, if I upload in 4k, and the majority of viewers with see it in AUTO (probably 1080p) , is it better for 1080p viewing quality to: A) upload in 4k and let vimeo do whatever it does to make it 1080p B) or upload in in the suggested 1440p settings? Vimeo would then do it's thing to make it 1080p Thanks for any enlightenment. BTW, I really hate the new AUTO policy. I complained and vimeo basically told me "tough".

Am I the only one finding it hard to ignore the JVC LS300?
chauncy replied to Mattias Burling's topic in Cameras
Yea Mattias. I really loved having a camcorder when I started. It was so easy to use and so many features. Look at what we have to go through to make work audio, connectors, viewfinders, rigging, and my favorite, parfocal. Many of these unavailable or poorly realized until you get up to major bucks. All of it to get a superior image to cheaper camcorders. I would love an under 5k camcorder that was ready to go out of the box and had a great image. Good to see if the jvc has it. Whatever the features it has to have a great image. -
I just went through severAL layers of vimeo support about the new auto quality playback. I am a vimeo pro and want to be able to set the default quality myself. They basically said they will now never support that and offered a refund. I will leave them once I move stuff over to youtube. I hate youtube because of the ads. But youtube has 15 times vimeo viewers. And I won't have to pay.

I think what's trying to be said about some lens is that the sensor can resolve more detail than the lens can show. In a way you could say the camera is 4k and the lens can only show 2k detail. Hence the lenses that cannot show as much detail will make the final image softer. So, it's not really an old lens thing, I'm sure that there are older lenses that can resolve 4k and newer lenses that cannot. And just because a lens is 2k(or whatever you want to call it) does not mean it's a bad combo with the nx1, it'll just look not as crisp and sharp, which could be a very good thing, it that's what the look you're going after.

Aside from lowlight- and frankly you can compensate for that with fast lenses, I think the nx1 image is better. I have no plans to get a a6300 because if ýou have an nx1 and don't need something specfic that the sony has, there's no reason to. The examples I've seen don't do much for me. The test in my hands is always how well the image grades. Can I get it to where I want it, even when the footage isn't perfectly lit and all that? The nx1's 4k footage is pretty flexible, it's not raw, but you can push it around. I have no issue getting "cinematic" looking footage out of the color grade. The only thing I still struggle with is some of the darker areas can lose detail, a black level thing. I've been shooting mostly under the colorless slate gray swedish winter skies and frankly if I can get a pleasing image out of that swill, sunlight should be easy. The nx1's detail surprises me every time. It is too sharp, but that's way better than not being sharp enough. It's fixable. I've shot with both samsung and manual lenses, although nothing older, and the image is always stunning.

I pay for pro service and I'm very upset that I can't set the default playback format I pay for this. My bitch has been sent upward to management. We ALl need to keep the heat on to get it changed.

I remember this review. It''s dated and most of the issues have been fixed. But the reviewer makes a definite point about the huge noise gap between 1600 and 3200. Calls it falling off a cliff at 17m 25 sec in. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1flm65f2Gy8

Chant well done young man.

I did not realize the 960 was the only card with hardware support of 265. That's just odd why the 970 and above don't have the same. Does this make editing and encoding in premiere 2016 and resolve 12.3.1 faster? Or are they not able to leverage it? I edit nx1 footage a lot and it's definitely doable without, but more speed is always good. Will help a lot for all the hack testing that's to come. Dude would you relax. We're all pro hack. I requested the sdk 3 months ago. I doubt any structure to give it out exists anymore. We need an insider.
-
Yeah, how could I have missed that. I've checked this thread a hundred times except the last few days and it's mostly been wish list after wish list. The hopeful Chant doesn't popup until page 12 or so. I was very active testing the gh2 hacks, so I know all about wish lists vs reality and how difficult hacks can be to actually get working and stabil. And SMG, you're just a member not a moderator. You have no authority, except in your own mind.

"with what editing software? Adobe premiere afaik doesn't support hw decoding of hevc" latest update of adobe cc2016 does. Davinci's latest does as well
-
How is this trolling? I asked is someone actually working on this or we all just hoping? I hope someone's working on it. But it's unclear to me.

Is this a fantasy thread or is someon actively working on this?

I have the two s lens. I think the 16-50s is a good lens, but I find the 50-150s lens to be better in every way. It's really hard to get a good zoom pull with the 16.50s it sticks in a couple of places. It also is pretty underwhelming with its boken even at f2.0. It's sharp and resolves absurd amounts of detail. The 50-150s is superior across the board. Zooms easier, better optics at all zoom levels, I think it's a lens that when paired when the nx1, is very hard to match from any camera lens combo. It's what the nx1 was built for. This lens. I have the 30mm samsung pancake and I would rate it as very useable and sharp, but it doesn't have much character or wow factor. But it's cheap and tiny and good for travel and gimbals and such. I'll be using the Samyang t1.5 vdslr 85mm more and more. It amazes me every time I've used it. I bought this in canon eos mount and use it with adapters on my BMCC as well. I love the boken and it can of course get down to a paper thin focus plane. This will probably be my go to portrait lens for both cameras. It's suprisingly cheap for the quality. I definitely would keep any nx mount purchases down to a couple of lens with all the automatic stuff. (since they be useless with other mounts) Any other lens I get will be canon or nikon with adpaters

Running 1st checks. 1st problem.. it appears resolve does not import any audio from the file. No audio track. Other things: it crawls with the initial 4k editing .. but on the coloring tab it's reasonable. I have to say the nx1's files can take quite a bit of processing before they start to fall apart.

adds h265 support for windows!
