  1. The fact it doesn't take photos means it is not a dslr killer. He also has 0 understanding how to properly use a gh4 or an nx1. His main sponser is canon. All these canon guys are the same, trying to push every filmmaker over into the overpriced and underperforming Canon Cinema Series. There are just too many other better cheaper options if you're looking for a pure film camera especially for that price.
  2. the price on the varavon birdy 2 has come down so much now(check varavon for latest) along with the new lite gimbal, that there may not be a need. You can control movement on the varavon gimbals from your phone with the basecam software. I did a whole series of videos a year or so ago. https://vimeopro.com/kevinconder/gear-review-the-varavon-birdycam including one on controlling motion with your phone https://vimeopro.com/kevinconder/gear-review-the-varavon-birdycam/video/113389695
  3. Haven't had it that long. Just noticed today that while recording video... the evf/screen is not switchable, as it is in photo. You can use either the evf or the screen. But the evf is not in auto and pressing the evf button doesn't do anything. when recording video. Is this still the case and there is no work around?
  4. who on earth would use this kodak thing? anyone making films wanting to use film would get something more pro with the film and development costs its too pricey for anyone to experiment with it involves so much waiting for the film back that no one in the want to see it now world will touch it. what is this supposed to be? nostalgi for 50 year olds?
  5. there's also a couple of ebay.co.uk places selling new 50-150 S lenses in box, not gray market, for less than $1200, retail is $1600. I've seen the 16-50 S lens for less than $1k. The 30mm samsung pancake is less than $150 at many places. In the prime non-samsung lens department, I also really like the Samyang 85mm T1,5 AS IF UMC VDSLR II for Canon EOS or Nikon mount, $370. Use with a $50 adapter.
  6. I point you to some of my thoughts: http://***URL removed***/forums/post/57013879 I don't have a gh4 so I don't know if the difference is big enough to justify a jump. But the Nx1 is dirt cheap right now and here in europe I get the sense camera shops just want to unload the gear, so you may be able to talk them down. Many camera stores have used samsung gear as well. As I point out, I got my nx1 and both S lens for less than the cost of an A7rII body. The detail with an Nx1 is just insane. I find the footage relatively easy to work with and get cinematic results. I would never buy a camera just because its resale might be good. I want to use it for a long time. If I do ever sell it, I will sell the entire system. If I was to advise I would get just the samsung lens your shooting would require for all the auto focus and the rest. Fill in with canon or Nikon manual lens with adapters. MF works brilliantly on the nx1.
